Most likely this isn’t the first thread about this. I have been playing and leveling a warrior on the anniversary realm in preperation for TBC. Whenever I am in stormwind the amount of boosters spamming in chat is so large that it out shines any meaningfull information in the chat.
This is me just ranting due too frustration but I hope Blizzard will try too minimize it.
Wether or not boosting should be against the ToS is a different discussion but I’m mainly annoyed due too the bots (lvl 1’s) spamming and overshadowing everything else.
Seems like there is a whole botting and boosting cartel.
Might be annoying too lower lvl players but if you don’t allow (or severely restrict them, like 1x per 5min) players below lvl 20 or 30 access too general / trade chat it might discourage bots taking over.
I understand it’s hard for Blizzard too differentiate between bots / organized boosting and the 60 that just wants too make some extra gold but its getting out of hand.
I’d personally prefer boosting would be against ToS again but can also understand the player that has lvl’ed countless of times in classic and just wants too chill and get too max lvl asap. It does promote rmt, wether due to buying the gold for the boosts or the gold used too pay for the boost being sold in a rmt.
Blizzard please get a little creative and thanks for reading my rant
It’s not bots. Level 1 are alt accounts of boosters, they spam from level 1, because spam accounts can be banned/muted if they will be mass reported, so they don’t risk with their main characters when spamming from those level 1.
Back in original vanilla I used to have a ball lighting a basic campfire under the feet of those L1 Gnome spammers that used to hang around near the AH in Stormwind.
I even ended up getting angry, incoherent threats in the form of whispers from the people controlling them.
I totally get you, it is an issue as many new/returning players don’t have the gold. Which means they have to play the normal way, the way the game intended. But, those with ALTs simply want a fast way to get through the Dungeon content. Which kills the game for new players, as they cannot get a group to do instances. As there are so many idle players asking for boosts!
Sadly, this will only get worse when TBC arrives, with the boom in Pally Boosters for Strath etc.
I’ve also seen an influx of Mage Bots in the world, and going in and our of Dungeons, including Mutli Boxers (which I still see as in exploit!)
Download and install mod “GLOBAL IGNORE LIST” in game type “/gil UI” and set up filter “[contains=BOOST]”. And enjoy global channels without this boost spam
It got removed (campfire always spawns away from players now) precisely because of what you describe. Certain type of players had “fun” putting fires not only under spamming gnomes, but also any lowbie who stopped at AH, went afk in a city, tavern or just at a quest giver.
Well, enjoy the spam then, because Blizz sure ain’t gonna do anything about it
It doesn’t help anyway they don’t just spam trade in capital cities they also spam Services and LFG most times these level 1-20 characters aren’t even in the capital they are outside the dungeon they are boosting ready to summon customers.
I usually report everyone of them (not the 60s who wants to make money ofc, but they use a different wording). May be the bots are muted for me, but they are not getting fewer. Reading the trade channel is difficult when it is spammed by these pesky bots.
Again, THEY ARE NOT BOTS. They are boosters, they spam from level 1 to not risk main account in case they get reported.
The only people who are bots, are those who spam “offering full 1-60 level boost, services, RFC-SM-MARA-ZG” and advertising RMT discord/website. People who just spam “WTS Mara boost 330+ mobs,…” are real boosters, not bots, they spam from level 1 to not risk their main account for mass reports.
However. I want go get rid of them and I want them to be punished if they have done smth against the TOS. Therefore I will continue to report those pesky spammers if they are interfering with my ‘safe space’.
As you understand it’s exactly a reason why they spam from level 1. It’s better to have fresh account banned for reports from such people as you, then main account. Even non-goldselling mages, who just want to make some gold for consumes/aq idols/BoE and other, can’t spam from main account, bceause they can be reported and banned
