Look at how Plunderplop started off. It was a grind, until the community complained on a daily basis and some things were changed here & there.
But thankfully this 2 and a bit month event, won’t be as mind-numbing as Plunderplop.

Its complaints based on data already out there. We can see its grindy and timegated.
Grinding is one thing, but no one asked for a timegated event.

You can still get the first set in the first week if you do everything. The 3 weeks thing is from “regular play”, which is very vague from Blizzard but means you’re not doing every single thing.
I mean since everything will be kind of free for all because there won’t be any difficulty involved, I can agree some time should be invested.
If they send everything free per mail would be bad too.
BUT as you say the usual timegating sound annoying
You can casually play the game and earn enough tokens to buy most of cosmetics. This is a typical player created fomo, nobody but you cares what you have in game.
Its not even up yet, they might reduce costs for horde though.

I wouldn’t mind it if I could spam the dungeons or w/e to grind it out when I can play (which is not often)
So I’ll have to see how much of a grind this will be.

isn’t the point of anniversary - timegating? it’s celebration, you don’t celebrate christmas all year long either
