The difference is the jarring popup that gets squelched. Your example isn’t the same.
I think the spammers probably delete their account after doing the spamming tbh
There is no difference, in both cases it is a feature that would block a message from being visible to the player. Be it because it’s promoting a illegal activity, or because it’s a message from a player you don’t tolerate.
And I hardly think so, since there is no trial accounts for Classic and it require an active subscription to be played. Almost likely they delete the character, switch to a different IP, then create a new one.
Again, no. Whispers don’t make a window pop up in the middle of the screen until you make a selection. So no, it is different, because what you’re doing by blocking channel invitations is minimising the disruption they cause.
Blocking the static popup is only half the job if you are Blizzard and it should be in your interests to kill that business and not only limit it. Hence my original point, hotfix the ‘block chat invites’ feature to prevent the message to appear in the chatbox.
Here’s the problem. Someone, somewhere, at some point in history, will probably have used a channel invite correctly. Otherwise they’d just remove the feature entirely. The notification has a point. And yes, I know you can work around it if you whisper people and tell them to turn blocking off and so on, but at that point why not just tell them to /join?
I can’t really think of a scenario in which having this enabled is crucial.
Who said anything about crucial? Adding minor inconveniences to your game just to combat a business you’re opposed to is how you end up with a constant stream of people being way angrier than they need to be. Like with DRM.
Then I don’t understand why blindly refuse to apply a change. Who exactly would be angry at them disabiling (or simply limiting, i.e not reporting the channel name just notify that a invite was blocked) this ‘feature’ lmao.
I dunno, man, I just know how much salt people generally throw at stuff that really doesn’t matter much.
