I have been getting repeated invites from a chat inviter. I put the invite on ignore
and they keep making new names and inviting again. this has been going on
for days while i am leveling.
Is there anything I can do to stop his/her behavior?

Take that name out of your OP, itâs meant to be a web address for what is almost certainly a gold selling website. Itâs an advert. All you can do is report and block channel invites in settings.
True but even blocking incoming chat invites it will still produce a print in your chat frame saying âyou blocked a invite to channel WWWZZXXwhateverâ. So their message effectively still gets deliver. They should instead limit the API to invite players to chat channels, as they are almost likely to use AddOns or macros.
Can you not configure that in chat settings? I know you can do things like mute guild chat or whatever.
Well I think that counts as a system message, so filtering them entirely would mean being unable to read all other system messages. Not sure though.
You can block channel invites.
Interface --> Social --> Block Chat Channel Invites.
Do this and youâll never get them again.
It still happens as Ff said.
I blocked Chat Channel Invites too from Interface Options, and it still displays the blocked invite on chat.
The thing I havenât tried is if thereâs an option in Chat Settings to hide those âsystemâ messages
Again, that is half a solution. You block the StaticPopup to appear, true, but in chat you can still see the notification saying âyou blocked the invite to zzzchannelâ. So their job is still done because you naturally look at the chat when such message pops. The advertising still works, Blizz should either remove this notification in players chat, or limit the API involved in inviting players to chat channels.
Anyone actively trying to block this stuff isnât the intended audience, so no, itâs not working in those cases. Itâs still able to be a nuisance, but an advert is not successful unless it increases the chance youâll buy the product.
There is, open filter settings, then choose the âGeneralâ tab (unless you use a different tab) then âOtherâ. You will find those categories there. If iâm not mistaken though, those messages were colored in gray, so it might be categorized as âChannelâ (right side)
May not be the intended audience, but they still spread the message. The day you will want to buy gold that might be the first website that comes to your mind. The principle of conversion rate is itself a percentage of the people who receive the ad.
If you think that one day Iâll go âhey, I know, letâs do something that could get me banned for a resource that I could achieve instead by just playing the gameâ then youâre wrong.
If you think, in a hypothetical situation where I did think that, that I would remember the name of any of these spammerâs sites or that I even read them properly, youâre still wrong.
Itâs not about API. Thereâs API to whisper players, yet they prefer to spam those channel invites instead of whispering. So either they are using some kind of trial accounts which canât whisper, but apparently can invite to channels or Blizzard have working spam filter for whispers but not for channel invites. In any of those cases itâs better to treat channel invites as an ordinary whispers and disable/filter them likewise.
There are no trial accounts for WoW Classic.
I know but there are accounts with restrictions. I think that after you paid subscription, you can play, yet your gameplay is somewhat restricted until 24 hours or something like that.
Thatâs true, when I first resubscribed I couldnât use general chat.
Itâs a bot inviting to their gold selling sites, so just report for cheating or whatever, that puts them on block
until blizz ip bans them, because obviously its only per character ignore etc
wow thank you so much Grupp. I had no hope for a while. I removed the toxic part of my post. Sorry it took so long
For those who are wondering how to block even that system message âyou blocked a invite to channel WWWZZXXwhateverâ, you can use Prat chat addon. Make sure you enabled âCustom Filters pluginâ. Then open prat ui with /prat, Extra stuff tab, Custom Filters at left window, Inbound, Add Filter, choose a name for filter. In the filter settings, Search Pattern = âyou blocked a invite to channelâ, choose âBlock Messageâ under that Search Pattern text area.

I get it, itâs not ideal, the message is still annoying. But at least you donât have to interact with it in any way and it can be ignored; the same way youâd ignore some idiot spamming nonsense in /yell.
To be honest Iâd prefer to have this than the constant whispers from goldsellers - as they are far more visually jarring⌠to my mind at least.

Please do follow my point. Iâm not saying you or anyone should buy gold.
Iâm just saying that the âblock channel invitesâ fails at providing protection against advertising/spamming. It was obviously not expected to be required in such way, but can still be modified if needed to.
Imagine putting a guy on ignore cause you donât want to hear from them anymore, then having a print on the chat saying âPlayer ZZZ said XXX but you ignored the messageâ.
