Well for one you are very rude. Calling people names and terms and what not to attack back. Second is the fact that you are trying to even paint me as some ‘‘intuative superhero’’ Like now or someone who thinks he is. When as I told you. I have simply had enough human interaction to know the difference between what callousness and cynicism is. Compared to skepticism. There is nothing more to it than that come to think of it.
Yet since you dislike that as if i had some ‘‘intuative superpower’’ you lack. Your coming for the attack instead.
The ‘‘You people’’ You just said you didn’t like talking too cause they asked for ‘‘Unfair advantages’’ But really just had a different view than you in the faction war thread.
Dude at one point in that very same thread. You replied and intersected your self into the conversation too xD And don’t pretend like you didn’t do just that to me here. Carrying your white knight insult over from the last harassment thread. Well bye then. Sad to see you go.
What OP said is a huge reason why I entirely retired my old main and only show achievements that characters earned, not the whole account’s achievements. There are people I want to avoid who would be overjoyed to find me, and I know that transferring server and changing my name is not enough to escape unwanted attention. It is far too easy to stalk someone.
Yes yes people can get reported but prevention is better than cure. Not to mention it would be less tickets for GMs to deal with if players could better protect themselves from unwanted attention.
Sorry to interrupt you guys fighting over egocentric BS but i dont see who benefits from unsolicited friend requests other than creeps, stalkers and its generally super, ultra uncanny that i cant even hide my online status once they added my character, it only works for B-net friends.
Ah the self insults. And you want anyone to take you seriously? Especially since i didnt even repeat them at you. Just because this is “your thread” doesnt mean every post is specifically pointed at you.
I repeat it because he keeps missing it. Same with me telling you now that you should report the stalkers to Blizzard.
I did notice. Doesnt change a thing. As I’ve said:
Something i have already said in the thread.
As i said: Report them to Blizzard.
They could also just /who you. Has the exact same results. Only thing they would have to do is type /who yourname every 5minutes or so to check whether you’re online. A stalker will always find a way unless you punish the stalker specifically. Remove one tool and he will find another.
Everything you say is more stigmatizing than helpful.
Ill ask you again to back to the place you crowled from.
It would be nice if you know how much of said thing is said enough times, you really repeat yourself too much and you dont really do anything else but annoy everybody who simply want to indulge in a productive conversation, im sure you have heard this IRL too.
Its not a hard fix at all we could just be like:
“lets make add character as friend require consent” and “lets make /ignore work by hiding you from /who and friends lists for the ignored player” but no we gotta talk absolute unnecessary projections of insecurity onto others.
Its the reality whether you like to hear it or not. Report said players to Blizzard.
Amusing insult. Is that the best you can come up with?
It was a discussion between me and rootlocus. You barging into it is your problem, not mine.
/yawn. At least get creative with your insults.
A: Its not a fix at all
B: They could still stalk you.
Yes. On that we can agree. On the first point we dont.
However then they will simply make a stalk account. Circumventing your “fix”. Bringing me back to my point that they will just replace one tool with another.
You are currently the one insulting someone else. Pot meets kettle.
I am not going to sugar coat my posts just to make you feel better regardless of you being a victim or not. Especially since your proposed ideas wouldnt change anything.
I did try to report them, however evidence is needed i dont walk around with a camera on my forehead you obviously bitter person, and im not gonna even bother.
And report- filling takes time. I dont have much of it.
Then do it again. Give examples. Give timestamps etc. Otherwise go to your realm forum and have your realm deal with these people given the realms community.
Still trying to insult i see. Its quite ironic given your background. And the term youre looking for is “brutally honest”
Ah, so now im being accused of being a stalker/creep/whatever. How to throw out every little bit of credibility you still had left out of the window. Congratulation.
I have never been fond of the idea that if something doesn’t entirely fix a problem then it should never be introduced.
There is something to be said about making something more troublesome to do. While some people who want to stalk will go to any insane length possible to satisfy their hostile needs, there are others who are much more easily discouraged from it if it requires anything more than minimal effort to locate someone.
There will never be a way to 100% protect someone from being stalked, but there are many ways to make it more difficult to accomplish causing discomfort to others.
And it’s not like the game is going to suffer if players must mutually agree to be on friend lists. This is how it is done in many other online games and community activity isn’t stifled because of it.
The thing is that it wont fix the issue at all. Not even remotely. The issue is that there is a stalker. So we now remove the friendlist option, which in itself is worthless because of the /who option. It was said that the /who option should also be removed if for example said person is on ignore (could also just say if someone has you on ignore you cant add them to the friend list either). Sure. However we are again dealing with a stalker. One can now create a throwaway account and do it with that account instead. Circumventing the change in its entirety. The fix having failed to achieve anything.
The only way or ways to deal with said stalker/s properly is to report them and/or get people to accompany you and corpsecamp said players over and over and over again should they start to show up considering it appears to be a pvp problem. And even the second option is a hard guess given the length of them doing it already.
Someone that does it since BFA (so well over 3 years) to this very day is most certainly not going to be “easily discouraged”. Easily discouraged people stop pestering you fast anyway, regardless of the aforementioned suggestions. So unless Blizzard deals with these people in particular, as was the case in Punys case, they will continue to do so.
I havent said its going to suffer. But its also not going to benefit. The suggestion is pointless.
As I said there are many ways to discourage stalking. Having to mutually accept friend requests is but one. Opting out to be listed in /who is another.
Other ways to discourage stalking:
Being able to entirely hide your achievements and other personal character data so that players and third party sites cannot easily access them.
Preventing ignored players from appearing in the same phase as you.
The option to entirely remove yourself from the friend list of others when you change name, faction or server.
I can tell you from personal experience that the lazier stalkers don’t always get bored quickly. The stalking I experienced only stopped when I retired my old main and every alt they knew I played, but these people could still find me if they really wanted to. The difference is now it requires significantly more effort.
Making things more difficult to do is far more effective than you think.
Sure. its that. I deserve to be stalked because i refuse a bitter guy who obviously watches too many podcasts and is only here to argue and always on the resisting side no matter what in every tread he is he is always fighting semantics rather than staying on topic.
Correct me if Im wrong but theres nothing negative about changing how adding character in your friends lists work and /ignore to also hide your seeing them you in /who ?
I deserve to be stalked because I talk back i guess ?
No, because you have an attitude problem. You got given solid advice and (for the second time actually) you pounced with personal insults and an atrocious attitude.
You weren’t even part of the conversation and you started to attack…
Now all we need is for the other parties involved to appear and give their side and find out you are actually the OP from that other thread…
