Another expensive mount

if some ppl think its coincidence we get more gold sinks since introduction of tokens then they are delusional, for some time now we have situation when coolest mounts goes into shop/become gold sinks.Blizzard is dead activison wants ur money

Mounts being that price would be ok if they left things like gold missions from wod/mop ingame. Now its just unfair. As mount collector its better to convert gold into tokens into battle net balance and buy store mounts than to buy those ingame mounts.

That argument would make sense if WOD and Legion mission tables didnt give us so much gold and they were added after token was added. So, no. We didnt get gold sinks with addition of token. We got massive amounts of easy gold with addition of token.

since legion all prices went skyrocket and income in this expansion is lower then in mop…

Not really. Legion had only warframe as gold sink while in same time giving us several 4k gold missions daily.

And there is higher income now than in MOP. 2-3 emissaries a week for 2k gold. Paragon chests with 3-6k gold

Never understood this obsession with mounts.

How do you people work in real life? Or is it just WoW thing?

I’ve been using the easy gotten gold to pay for the gametime, I made so much I’ve been paying for it ever since they added the missions and I still got enough to afford to do so for next couple of months.
Mounts… pfshhh.

How bout the spider?

Ye, spider too. But point is that guy claims they added gold sinks because they added token. But he either forgets that WOD massive gold rewards for missions happened after token was added, or it just doesnt fit his Activision bashjng narrative.

Not all of us in real life are rich too my friend, although Ferrari and Lamborghini are out there xD

Just consider it a… Lambo that you will never have and you will be cool with it xD

stop this bs,u cant compare real life to game lol…

The timelines are close together but yes it is not wow tokens that are at fault, it was the addition of the mission table in WoD (and perhaps somewhat amplified by how easy it was to level up alts during that time).

When they added mission tables they had tons of ideas of what sort of rewards missions could give, and they added it all, some gave gold, some gave the common currencies, some gave a mount, some gave a toy, etc etc… and it being a new kind of content, they probably just naively looked at it through the prism of “what is considered a good reward amount for this rare -quest-” because daily/weekly quests and such were the closest thing to missions that we had had thus far.

Somehow they didn’t foresee that once someone had set up his character in WoD (which wasn’t much work after dinging 100), they would only have to login for a minute a day to collect the mission rewards and restart all the new missions, rince & repeat for all ~10 alts and you’ve got a well oiled gold making operation that is raking in easy 5-figure gold rewards a day, for about 10 minutes of your time just re logging between your alts.

The fact that this was allowed to go on forever created extremely large amounts of gold (also this is truely -generated- gold, you can’t compare this to the amounts of gold people pay each other for rare TCG pets, crafted mounts or dungeon boosts or the like, those don’t generate gold they merely bounce it around). It’s economics 101, print or generate a ton of extra currency out of thin air, and you get hyperinflation, the true value of the currency plummets. To make matters worse even though they dialed it back a lot for legion, they still left the mission table in the game and still had some highly profitable gold missions in there, i don’t know if they simple feared the potential backlash for turning off the money spigot or whatever, but that decision sure hasn’t helped much.

The wow token got added halfway through WoD and i don’t think it had much of an effect on the value of gold, infact i don’t think it affected much of anything at all until they linked it up to battle.net balance (but even then it can’t have had much of an effect on the value of gold).

The gold sinks are a necessity (unless you’re willing to entertain abolishing gold as a currency). If you’re the kinda player who looks at those goldsink-mount prices and thinks “that is insane, i will never be able to afford these things” then you are exactly the kinda person who they’re adding them for, not to buy them mind you, but in order to make the economy more accessible to you again, because their oversight during WoD has simply priced you out of the game.

I’m sure we’ll see a slumdog millionaire-style drama featuring a poor tauren hero about this sad event on Netflix soon enough.

Do you ever stop feeling entitled? Why do you think you are supposed to have everything?

They know this… it’s what the token is there for :frowning:

The Blood Plague outbreak bug was used in studies as an example of how society would act during a biological terrorist attack. 9 out of 10 researchers would compare real life with games.

There is far more mounts that will require more effort to earn than even the 5 mill one, simply because RNG is RNG. There are people who have farmed Invincible since WotLK and still haven’t gotten it.

And anything below 500k is pointless to even argue as expensive. Relative to the rate which you can earn money at, it is more affordable than the Yak was when it released.

Finally can’t even argue new players, as new players set on collecting would earn a ton of gold just getting old mounts from vendoring old raid drops, AHing old mats, pet drops, duplicate Island drops etc.

People who actually have problems with these prices are likely just used to getting free money from a table just for leveling alts rather than actually going out and farming money.

It was ment as a joke just to chill things out…

You need another joke to chill you a bit or what?

Problem is, token doesn’t generate gold. So gold you get from token nowadays is very small. It would take you 30 tokens to buy 5m gold mount. Thats 600 euro. So token is not realistic way to get gold.

It can help towards that though.

I have to say I agree. This expansion my list of still need to buy mounts is kind of long compared to last expansion it was just oh that spider mount, I’ll get it some day (still don’t have it).

Sooooooooooo… dont buy it ? /facepalm

But if that’s the answer for 99.99% of the players, why even introduce these mounts for such expensive prices in the first place?

It’s a lot of mounts devoted to that very small segment of players who can realistically afford them. Surely that development effort could create more enjoyment for more players if the mounts were more realistically available to them.

No one is getting a more fun game experience by choosing not to buy the mounts they would like to have.

“Guys! Guys! You won’t believe this awesome and amazing thing that happened in WoW today! I saw this cool mount that I really wanted, and you know what? I didn’t buy it, because I couldn’t afford it! How awesome is that!?”
