Another Thread Griping About Timewalking Pugs

Yes. Another one. This time from the perspective of a Tank.

I do quite like getting a thirty minute Deserter debuff because some healer was having an anxiety attack because I wasn’t following his “Most optimal route” in Dire Maul.

No I don’t care that I can jump down into the garden, and it’s better to clear out the walkway otherwise a tree armada comes in and kills you after Hydrospawn/Satyr boss. At least, as far as I know, not sure if that has been fixed.

A tank sets the pace. If I so choose I can go and slowly pace and smell the flowers if I so desire. Well I won’t do that, but I am getting progressively more vindictive towards pugs as a whole.

And you can most likely guarantee these people will then go do their M+ and then start complaining that there are no tanks. Well gee, maybe they’re not around because you push them away. They got tired of being abused and decided to just go be DPS.

Anyway, vent over. Discuss.

Thats how it should be but people can not control themselves and just pull for you or try and make the route.

The old traditions seem to be dying.

Nowadays they’d rather live in a world of tank shortage than to allow the tradition of Tanks setting the pace to continue.

Only a mad man would tank a PuG in these times.

I love seeing them squirm here on the forums. It’s literally the consequences of their own behaviour and it’s glorious to see.

“Where’s all the tanks”. “Why do i wait so long for invites”. “A mythic+ queue will fix everything, even though i waited 2 hours for a group i will kick the tank at the first deviation from perfection” xD

Toxic people really need to stop the random kicking and think about what they are doing. It’s the tanks that decide the route, it has always been and always will be, this way. If the rest of the group disagrees or have something else to say, then you embrace diplomacy and write your thoughts while being friendly about it. People shouldn’t be punished over someone’s egoism being threatened.

I’ve said it before on these forums, which applies to real life as well: Being friendly, understanding, polite, kind and patient will get you much further than being the opposite. You only lose by being unfriendly.

Please tank for my little Holy Priest…
I detest tanks that just pull the entire dungeon and then cry I can’t keep up.

Fun fact: on my horde character today in a timewalking dungeon I had more civilized interaction with a tank that didnt know the way then in 2 years of playing Alliance.

DPS forget this lol… But same dunegon yesterday the tank wanted to do it proper I didn’t have the time or want to do it (hate them 2 dungeons lol) so I left. If you don’t like the tank pulling slow or doing it proper then YOU can leave.

Kicking is being abused most times it pops up before I can read who is getting voted its already done…

When I tank TWW I ask the healer if they can do big pulls, if silence I pull big and if they struggle I back it off next pulls.

I mean it sure contributes, but its much more like the consequence of blizzard’s old new tank design which we try every expansion only to see it flop so hard that by season 2 it fully disappears.

And the threat nerf is not even mentioned here which is just yet another annoyance a tank now constantly will have to deal with (especially with something like retri dps). It was already there in SL and got very swiftly revered but apparently blizzard needed a round 2 of it.

This, in addition to the their timer design that basically makes pulling 3 packs absolutely necessary in many cases…
Needless to say, currently tanking can be pretty reprehensible in general, especially when you can just go dps and let anyone else bother with it.

idc about tank changes, its more than playable even in a pug (only played bear/pala). It’s other people that make keys exhausting.

I did a single 12 (it was easy af) just haven’t done anything but weekly since lol. I burn out every single season long before i want to stop pushing, if i had a group i would go for title every season. But had a bad experience with one before so stay pug.

What really gets me is if you decide to go the fastest route, but you’re not confident in your tanking abilities and take 1 or maybe 2 packs at a time, majority of the time as i’ve seen it, the healer will start pulling for you. IF the healer can keep you alive then sure, go for it but that has been extremely rare.

The absolute impatience in queued dungeons has been increasing more and more. Now you can get kicked by not skipping ONE single mob. If you take 5 sec too long in anything, its either someone throwing a tantrum, you get kicked or even both.

I see, but the tank exodus literally happened at the same time as the tank nerfs.
Clearly most tanks would simply rather play dps or tank their own key, hence the long queue times.
Its objectively easier to perform dps role than tank role and its not even close.

Ppl behaved pretty much the same way even back in SL and in DF as well.

Yeah but i think it’s just exposed the issue even more. Tanks nerfs and CC changes have just made it harder. No free ride. If you don’t DR a tankbuster you should die, before you were invincible

But its still a community problem. DPS with garbage attitudes expecting perfection when you get to watch them fail over and over and dying with DRs up etc. Yet you make even a single mistake it’s the end of the world

Only way they’ll stop me from following this tradition is if they physically try and stop me.

I recall seeing some threads around M+ and then one or two about the lack of tanks. Plenty of people saying that tanks are ready and willing to do the role, just aren’t willing to deal with people who act like the world is about to end and they want to get in one more dungeon completion before it does.

I could do that, but I’m not sure how it would work given we’re on different servers (Me on Draenor and you on Argent Dawn)

I’m thinking the most impatient ought to just roll tanks and do it themselves to “Show it how it’s done”. But odds are they’ll not be happy with it because they aren’t pulling bigly numbers of damage (The one thing that typically people care about the most), or they’re just too lazy to take up that kind of responsibility.

But if they really want the best results, they should roll a level 10 character that can tank, twink it out a bit, and then go smash everything in sight.

I’m afraid I’ve derived some pleasure from dps pinging like mad to indicate shortcuts to the tank. Unfortunately for them, the tank came with his own healer (me) and a dps, and we all three enjoy doing all of it. We happily ignored it and went our merry way through the dungeon.

The consensus here seems to be that the majority rules, and the assumption is that that majority wants max speed and efficiency. I’ve never recognised that, I simply follow and respect the tank, and I prefer tanks who take good care of their groups. If that means going a bit more slow, and doing side bosses, all good with me.

Honestly this go go go attitude isn’t even required in keys, sure you need some pace in m+ but it’s not the insane race that I see in TW / LFD.

To add to this. M+ is created so we werent outgrowing dungeons. In M+ you need to do mechanics and pull small.

Normal dungeons were always be zerged.

My tanks never complain, but I did get tired of doing pugs. I play for fun, and I do push myself to improve, but the comments people make sometimes. I ignore them, but when they cross a line, I just leave.

As a DPS, I enjoy the 30 min DPS queues! :stuck_out_tongue:
P.S. About Classic TW, they might have considered adding more dungeons, and rotate them weekly.

Tank sets the pace? You’re god damn right we do.

It’s a nightmare in dungeons now. Players just want it to be over quickly, can’t even enjoy the scenery without a speech bubble saying “gogogogo”

Whatever happened to walking into deadmines and not leaving until an hour later?

There was nothing to fix to begin with, that only happens when a clueless hunter/warlock doesn’t dismiss their pet before jumping down, in which case you can simply tell them to do so, which is what a true tank and party leader would do.

Being a tank doesn’t mean you’re a dictator and everyone should follow your orders or that you’re free to waste everyone’s time, you’re just one more in the group, and you can and will be replaced if you don’t work towards a common goal with the people around you.

You should expect people to follow ONLY when you’re knowledgeable, but when you are as clueless as you are, proven by the fact that you don’t even know how the dungeon works, you should let others lead even if you’re the tank.

And you can most likely guarantee that you will end up leaving any dungeon run that doesn’t go as you expected, complaining about people “harassing you” and being oblivious before your own ignorance.

This expansion I decided to go back to maining a tank and it’s been a blast, I’ve had 0 toxicity towards me, do you know why? Because I do my stuff.

I study the dungeons, I safely test my limits, I have my routes planned, and most important, I have a good attitude. I suggest you learn to do the same and instead of looking for problems on what’s around you, learn to work towards what’s in your hands.
