I didn’t think much of it the first 2 weeks. Figured everyone is ths same lvl in a few zones, the hype is still super high ofcourse it will be crowded. But it’s been months and the situation have not improved one bit. Even going to the blasted land, a zone I’m usually always skip over is overpopulated. My subscriptions ends in 2 weeks, since classic started I had year long subscription, it will not be a new year for sure. Not sure if I should do a shorter one and see it things improve or just cancel it altogether.
Don’t get me wrong, I still love the game, but it’s not designed for so many people. The last 3-4 weeks, most of the time I logged off, is not becouse I had a good gaming session and it’s time to take a break, no it’s becouse I can’t be arsed to fighting for mobs tags for hours on end.
Anyone else canceling or thinking of canceling due to overpopulation?
Things like overpopulation doesn’t worry me. Pop always going down, slowly but surely.
Things like the mess they created last night with BGs mixed with SoD players are what makes me really reconsider if I sure bother at all with this fresh.
The problem isn’t the total population, the problem is the size of the layers. Last time I was on there was 4 layers on the server, if people log off, they reduce the layer, but the overpopulation pr layer will still be equally bad. Instead of 4 layers they should have 10-12 layers. We would still see plenty of players in every single zone, but not to the point, where every single mob that is part of a quest is more or less beeing spawn camped whter you are lvl 20-40 or 60. We need fewer people pr layers, not neccesarily fewer people in total.
As the previous guy said, Era will welcome you. I think Fresh is awesome, because it’s vivacious and populous. I made tons of friends since launch and I’m happy to make more—I can’t interact with others on an empty layer.
Group up for a quest and grow some social skills maybe?
I group for quest where it makes sence to do so, but even if you group up 5 people, you don’t get 5 times as many drops. Only makes sence if it’s either a kill quest, 1 mob quest or if it makes you able to take on groups that you can’t kill yourself. And dungeons ofcourse. But I don’t want to group for a drop quest, and feeling forced to be int he group for 2-4 hours just to get enough drosp for 1 or 2 quests. I rather go solo for that and feel free to leave when ever I’m fed up with mob tagging.
The rat race hype will eventually slow down and people will get bored and quit as usual. Era is more chill but good luck finding help for group quests or low level dungeons 'cause it takes time.
It ruins immersion, it splits up players and they make grouping harder. It feels like it’s impossible to make groups in STV for example, because people are split up over layers.
You can still make groups, chat works between layers and whith invites you get to the same layer. Yes it looks a bit weird at times, but it’s a lot better than spending 1 hour to do a 10 min quest.
An easy fix could be to make the Looking for Group for each zone global and not only layer specific so you could easily find a group and once teamed up every one in the group hops on the same layer.
you dot understand game. if players too much you wont be able to gather ore herb or kill enough mobs. and on pvp server there will be graveyard run simulator.
Era is a good place if you want no layering and a more tight knit community. If you do some dungeons or raids you are guaranteed to meet the same people on multiple occasions, forming relationships with other players and guilds. To me that is a big part of playing WoW, and one of the main reasons I don’t play fresh. While our community is smaller, there’s always dungeon and raid groups looking for players, and a lot of nice guilds recruiting friendly people
I want to play the game, half the game is lvl 1-60. Rush to max lvl is retail mindset. I was able to complete 2 quest when I logged on 2.40 tonight though, before the server closed down at 3 am. Maybee the things are indeed dying down since you can now quest at 3 am. I mean ther was still atleast 3 other people in an area that have enough mobs for 2-3, but it wasn’t swarmed like before.
No. Although layering is an abomination imo. Sometimes the layer is a little bit too populated for my taste, but thus far nothing excessive. I’m slow leveler though.
