Anyone else wish Blizzard would release concrete plans for the classic eco system?

I’ve been getting pretty frustrated with classic over the past year.

We have so many variations of “classic” and outside of vanilla era, it feels like all other variants are up in the air on what where they are going which really impacts my drive to play.

Before Anniversary hardcore came out, I was happy on era HC. But then the new anniversary HC cannibalised the era HC, essentially destroying all communities there as everyone moved to anniversary.

While that sucked, that wasn’t even the worst of it. Not only did we have no option but to move to anniversary HC, but now we cannot transfer to a PVP realm when we do eventually die.

On top of this we do not know whether TBC will be an era server or progress to WOTLK. I have no desire to play WOTLK but would love a TBC server era server and given Blizzard have given us no information on this it makes me so reluctant to spend hundreds of hours on a character when I do not even know what their roadmap is.

When the progressive vanilla servers play out up to TBC pre-patch, I really hope the dev team provide some clear information on how the classic eco system is going to pan out for TBC with some really concrete plans for how our characters will be managed.

  • What happens to anniversary HC once TBC starts? Will this be merged with the era HC servers?
  • Will we have the option to transfer our characters to either era servers or TBC servers
  • Will we be able to transfer to PVP TBC servers like we can already do on era HC?

I just want to level to 60 all characters on vanilla HC, but then with the option to transfer them to a PVP / PVE realm of my choice, be it vanilla era or the anniversary server. I’d happily pay to copy them to both era and TBC.

This is super important information that players should be informed about before they even start a character. If I’m to invest hundreds, even thousands of hours and pay a monthly subscription, I expect to know where my investment is heading.

That’s why they don’t disclose. So both TBC era fans and Wotlk fans would play together for a year. Otherwise they would lose one half or another.

Same, couldn’t care less for WOTLK - I only crave TBC/Classic. Rest is just dogwater for me.
I wish they could have more accurate or even any communication at this point - it’s all a toxic slurry of people saying when/if/then on all forums when they add nothing more than a vague roadmap. L system.

If they announced Era servers for BC and Wrath alike they would gain players en masse. And igf they announced that HC would progress as well, even more would return or start playing.
All the uncertainty keeps lots of potentially happy WoW players away.

I reckon their main priority is getting people back to Retail now.
We’re going to have 1 year+ of Classic TBC on anniversary servers, combined with a possible “Classic+” announcement at BlizzCon next year in September.

This “Classic+” depending on when that would launch, it would soak up the majority of the classic playerbase. I doubt we’ll get any era servers anytime soon.

Well, there’s gotta be something to happen with Anniversary servers at the end of TBC, right?

So the choices are:

  1. Close the servers and send characters to the Classic MoP. I don’t consider option with character deletion, because that never happened before.
  2. Keep servers at TBC, so Era.
  3. Progress server to WotLK (and the same question would arise year later).

So it’s one of these options, no other way around it.

I would love a TBC era server, but I doubt they would add it.
Merging servers is only a one-way street - you can’t let Anniversary have incoming traffic, only outgoing at this point.

Seeing they have the infrastructure for it now - I bet they will just launch WOTLK etc all over again, and see if it attracts enough people.

We were hoping for a Fresh server that would stay TBC era, or likewise.
Guess that’s not happening.

Cost vs rewards, as always - they don’t care about the minorities!
The recent Glad mounts in the store say it all

OK. They’ll sooner get me to unsub than play retail. I stopped playing WoW about 7 years ago (BfA) and I only returned - on a new account even - to play Classic.

I’m not sure I care overmuch for Classic+ … I do not trust the new developers with making something worth my time and sub, whereas keeping TBC as Era would keep me subbed and happy. I’m btw. not spending any time playing Anniversary before I know what’s going to happen with the servers.

But I lived without playing before, and I can do so again. And if not, Era HC is there same as now.

Same here. I stopped caring much for classic+ after SoD phase 2 hit. Then it was clear they’d fail again. I won’t touch WotLK again. Seen it from 2008-2010. I’m done with it.

I‘m fine in Era for the time being. I’d like to play TBC. But I won’t until they announce TBC Era servers.

I won’t play on seasonal servers anymore.
