It’s not about people. Not me not you. Just box ticking. They tick more boxes because they offer more content at a fraction of wow’s budget. Obviously cause 90% of wows budget goes into useless systems.
RMT will exist in The New World the moment it launches. The game is hyped up so the services are probably just waiting to launch. When Amazon notices the RMT, they will want a piece of the action and they will start selling tokens.
The token in WoW is severely overblown. It can buy you some achievements. BoEs aren’t really “pay2win” because they rely on supply, and I’d argue the person selling them is winning much more than the person buying them.
You can also buy boosts obviously, but again - that’s part of the whole RMT thing, which will exist in every single MMO. One of the WoW RMT boosting sites I track also sells FFXIV boosts.
In fact, the reason why this garbage “pay for convenience” exists in the first place is that gamers were doing these mtx transaction even before they were officially in our games. The market came first, the satisfaction came second.
There’s no MMO with monetization as cheap and generous as WoW.

I swear, people who don’t pug discover boosting from the incessant complaints against it. It’s how half the people in the world discovered piracy through anti-piracy ads.

But that still depends on what boxes people want ticked. Games are subjective, there will never be a game that is objectively the best game.

I never even try to get hyped for new releases anymore, last time for me was GW2 and that really didn’t live u to the hype, great game, just wasn’t what I was expecting, so maybe I will give this one a try, a month or two after release, also NEVER PREORDER.

If wow was to be released today without countless of addicts it would not survive a year. Would be free2play and die pretty quickly because in this state there is nothing to do besides getting bigger scaled numbers wohoo
No, not to a degree. Any form of entertainment is subjective. End of discussion no matter how bad you want the FF devs, new world devs or anyone to be soooo happy with you they give you a years worth of sub.

You do know about how housing works in FF, yes? You know the current housing crisis? There is no perfect solution.
I always try out most new mmo that comes out eventually. So propably yes.
also remember that P2W games are dominated by Whales who have infinite resources and will spend thousands of $$ every month to stay on top and be the most competitive, unless you are very well off you cannot compete at the highest levels with these people
the whole idea of P2W is to catch as many Whales as possible so no amount of QQ from the masses will get any changes made to the game, 1 whale is worth an infinite amount of F2P casuals -
this makes every P2W MMO essentially the same toxic experience no matter how innovative or pretty it is

I think it’s better to try something new than to farm the same mobs in the maw / korthia / same dungeons
Sure, new world looks decently fun, and just the fact that they released it on Steam instead of making it exclusive to ANOTHER launcher is a good sign in my book.
I remember listening to an interview with a high end BDO player recently and it was eye opening how little regard he had for ‘swiping’ a couple thousand dollars away in order to stay competitive.
I was so on board for New World as were a few old DAoC buddies but once they started testing a cash shop in Alpha, have said that QoL buffs will not come this year but might the next, then it was done. It’s designed to be a cash cow.
have you researched the cash shop in new world? its only cosmetics with possible rested exp boost by mid 2022. Where is the p2w? If rested exp boost etc is p2w imagine wow lol ( and I don’t think wow is p2w)

How do you expect a MMO to make money without a sub? its not like a single player game where you buy the game and its done. A good cash shop with some QoL its fine. You already play a game where you can buy currency and buy BIS Boe items lol.

Imagine a game where you can buy currency, such as gold, exp boosts and content-end-game boosts with purchased gold. Imagine if that game also has a subscription …
