Yes, I’ve been hyped for New World for ages, my issue are clear, within less than a year of the games launch, we are going to have a rested exp boost and other advantages?
Does that not scream ‘well, this leveling part blows, people are going to want to skip this’?
That does to me, WoW after 10 years adding in boost made sense, having P2W (sorry, boosts are pay to win, especially in PvP games) so early into a games life already means there has been a design philsophy based around having montary blocks.
How do they make money? Cosmetics are absolutely fine, but they’ve literally already come out and said there will be boost, exp gains and so forth. Good on you if you can live with that, but that you can’t competently design a game where the actual leveling process is that fun (aka FF14) that you already need to market to the players that it can be skipped, it can be made quicker, then you’re already at a loss, especially in a PvP environment where the players will be so much quicker to react and leave.
It does look pretty, but I don’t think that’s enough to draw me, really. There are many pretty games.
On first glance, New World doesn’t look to have any playable fantasy races, and seems to take itself very seriously. Don’t think I’ll like the tone of the world or be able to make a character I want to play. Seems like an oddly mundane magical world.
ye i kinda agree that for alot of players that are heavy into fantasy/lore/RP it can be harsh to pick up new world. Its more for players that care more about gameplay/new/cool game mechanics PvX with an immersive world full of player/guild/faction interaction
It’s not. Thats saying a car with 1 wheel is good because you like it. Wow is that car, all other cars have 4 wheels these days. Wow should too. Nobody is asking to remove that one good wheel, just add to it because 4 wheels are objectively better even though you might think it’s not.
We’re not talking about what is fun. We’re talking core game design.
Wow has:
Murdering, quest mudering, mythic raid murdering, dungeon murdering, pvp murdering, crafting for gear to murder
And… mounts.
Basically 2 wheels if you will. Other games have that (arguably better or worse) AND more. Wether you think the wheels look good or the car is subjective. But the fact that 4 wheels are better than 1, is not.
And the first video i see WoW people / WoW CCs react to, already says it is just an ‘‘above average game’’. Basically nailing what i thought. It is looking exactly like it, a overhyped game that in the end dosen’t deliver on that hype and was indeed just mediocre in the end.
Once again overhyped pos that didn’t become so much greater everyone that has being tracking that game, thought it would be. Even after 1 additional year of Delay cus of Covid and to ‘‘improve the game’’. Improvements, sure? but to become that much improved it would be this next big MMO, overhyped as well and deliver on that hype? nahh son.
It just People being sheep with hype as always and a developer (Who already so far have a bad track record for create any good games to begin with) thinking they can do it better next time. Which surprise, surprise! the people that follow your game. Dosen’t see it in the end.
I do also have more faith in ashes then new world. I think new world can be really fun for a bit and first play through. But I don’t think the combat makes it long lasting. And boring in the long run. Happy to be wrong tho.
Nope! Between there being an issue with it and peoples graphics cards, the proximity based voice chat which has proven to be incredibly toxic and unmonitored and to the bad combat I have zero interest in even giving it a shot.
I wonder what “optional” means for ingame purchases? I think I will see what they are selling before I buy it, but if they have a free trial I’ll take a look.
Also i just saw from an Asmon stream vod, where he’s reacting to a video from Josh Strife Hayes that have tried the Beta. There is literally a Faction in the game named ‘‘The Syndicate’’!
…
Where didn’t that originally originate from.
Oh yeah, i remember.
WOW!
They are literally coping the names of Things from WoW in that too, not just Ideas…
And althrough Beta, Hayes also was one of the unlucky ones that had his character skating while running forward. Skating in a Static Animation.
Yep, this game is shaping up to end up exactly like i said i expected it would, and i refuse to believe otherwise, now that it’s less than a month away from it coming out.
I wasted too much time when I quit WoW in 2007 (addiction) experiencing other online games, I wish now I didn’t.
I’m just gonna watch other people playing it, if I’m curious.
It’s quicker. Just like I do with other things in WoW I don’t have time to. Like raiding, I watch Asmongold, because it’s funnier to watch people failing and raging over it,than succeeding at it.
I bet it will be tied to prime, if you have prime you get special perks and rewards, if you do not have prime, you will be stuck without it special content. Look at how Twitch is, if you are not a Twitch prime user you do not get the freebies that are offered. Everything Amazon does is built around prime subs, thats how they really make their money.
I’ve been playing the beta. To me it feels like a cross between GW2 and BDO. I especially like the crafting & the fact that one character can do everything. Only just managed to afford a house, but I can make all my own furniture etc, which reminds me of ESO. I can’t comment on the PvP because I despise it in all its forms, so won’t be touching it, but can say that they’ve nailed their flagging, unlike WoW. You can’t be baited into PvP, you can’t accidentally flag and that’s good.
It’s really weird that there are no vendors though - sell everything on zone-locked AH or salvage it for repair kits & some mats.
Playing it now, having a blast. It’s very different than WoW, don’t expect a clone.
End game PvE content is lacking but it’ll come.
The graphics are absolutely awesome if you’re into that but you pay the price with high system requirements. I had to upgrade pretty much everything in my PC except the case and PSU.
