I play with my wife and we decided to have a break. When we got back, I could see I was DCed and when I tried to log in, I was placed in the queue. My wife was in the character selection screen and could keep playing. We stayed AFK for exactly the same time, but I was kicked and she was not. Anyone knows why? Apparently system decided I am a scripter and she is not. Actually it happened to me several times before that I was kicked when AFKing for a while, but I was always sitting next to my PC so I could jump right back in. I don´t use scripts to stay online so not sure why this is happening?
Can confirm they are actively kicking randomly if they see people standing still for x seconds anywhere. Exactly the same happened to me and my wife twice.
got the same problem with my gf’s account, im gone for like 5-15 mins max to do something around the house and all of a sudden her account is disconnected while mine is still ingame AFK.
i think blizzard changed something in their system to get the ppl in que ingame instead or something which is rlly stupid imo.
Ok thanks guys. I thought the rules are clear - we get 30 minut in game and then kicked to character selection screen where we get another 30 minutes. I think it´s fair to allow players to get a lunch or visit a toilette. We´re human beings. Instead I am looking at the 10k queue now and my wife will outlevel me lol…
The kicks aren’t always anti-afk detections, they are also random server hiccups because the servers are overloaded
Should be more stable after some maintenances and after populations have settled more etc.
Note that I’m not saying that it’s definitely not the anti-afk kicker, I’m just saying they aren’t the only reasons people get disconnected
like i know they increased server capacity and whatnot which is a good compromise and all but i think at this point they should rlly consider having free realm transfers to even out the population on realms.
like a 200-1500 login que is doable with maybe a 30 mins -1.5 hour wait time max but anyting above 2k+ and 2-6+ hours waiting isnt not healthy and sadly unplayable for the more casual players among us that have daily lives etc.
They probably have and still are considering it.
I think they might just be playing a sort of waiting game at the moment to get more time to think through everything, albeit whatever “solution” they do come up with gets higher and higher anticipation so people will hope that it better be darn good.
Yes I agree and totally understand that. But we´re using the same internet connection and we were both standing in SW so I would say in this case it was not an accidental DC. But I can´t totally exclude that. In such cases however the grace period should be a bit longer to allow logging back.
I see your point but technology can be tricky
Like for example even though you use the same internet connection your two accounts hold two different sort of “connection IDs”, the server might drop one of them but not the other if unlucky(although dropping it at all is unlucky I suppose).
And yes, the grace period works for the most part now as far as I know, but it also seems to be smaller the higher pop the realm has.
The problem with the waiting game as I see it is that the longer you wait, the worse the consequences will be. Because now everyone keeps leveling hoping they will announce it soon. And the higher the level, the lesser chance players would start over. So I think they should have said at the beginning if there will be transfers or not so the players could act accordingly.
I won´t argue with that as I am not an IT guy I just hope this won´t happen very often as it really ruins your day if you plan to play with friends and one of you gets DCed this way without chance to get back. So hopefully they will fix queues and this problem will stop being a problem
