Can we get AQ40 already please, we’re probably gonna have to wait 2 weeks after announcements? Then 2-3 week war effort etc

Hate to break it to you but releasing AQ patch is not gonna make people come back to SoM. What you got right now in terms of population is what you got.

New content gets people online. Some stay some do not. At least we’ll actually have something to do and people online.
Delete SoM.
Then, add fresh with better troll racials.
And with better, Berny mean actually useful.
Also, delete human demon hunter vision 1 mile recognizing stealth units.

Yea I don’t think anyone is coming back to som for aq40 considering you need BWL+ gear to even be considered for the raid. You’re stuck with the people you got playing right now…

You don’t really need BWL gear though. You can go in there with just ZG stuff, and also AQ20 is out. It’s good for a strong clear, but there’s people on Dreadnaught that only cleared BWL 2 weeks ago. These guys running green items for half their raid. AQ40 is gonna be ezmode. Only gonna be DPS checks at the higher difficulty levels that you can pick yourself.
Unfortunatly, i agree. No matter what content they add it won’t bring players back to SoM.
I would have gladly play SoM since i love Vanilla. But it was too early for me & the best part for me in Vanilla is the leveling/journey not raidlogging.
Raiders, online players and auctions peak every new phase, it does bring players back and makes everything feel more alive. Always has. They might not stay, but thats why aq40 and naxx need to come out quickly.
You are on some serious copium if you think releasing aq is magically gonna make people want to play som again. It’s too late. Maybe next som will be better. Who knows. Needs better decisions and more effort from the devs though.
Still, it doesn’t bring NEW players.
It bring back SoM players/raiders who were on “stand-by” until the new raid content
Don’t get me wrong, i find all the changes of SoM good. But it look like that either a lot of players don’t either it was too soon.
IMO a lot of players don’t want to experience “harder” content even if it could recreate a sort of “Vanilla experience” with slow progress which require multiples tries and farm.
Modern players don’t want that unfortunatly it feel like the less they play the better.
Sure, let’s open Naxx too.
Total raiders will go up 25% easily, like every phase, when a new raid comes out. It needs live bursted back into it and content to come quicker.
Also, sandy, nobody said new players. New content makes people return.
True for me. I had fun in Classic and I wanna do it again some time but not before we get to Wrath I think.
I believe Blizz got fooled by a small part of the playerbase that kept yelling ‘FRESH NOW!’ even when TBCC wasn’t even out. On paper SoM is a good idea but I think there’s not enough interest atm.
The WoW- classic ‘trilogy’, as in Classic, TBC and WoTLK, is a game that can and will be played decades from now, as long as Blizz presses the big red reset button once in a while, but not too early.
I would be all in for another round of Classic-TBC-WoTLK when we’ve had wrath for a couple of years. Maybe after that people will be nostalgic for the other expansions.
I’d love to re-live MoP and Legion but not atm, since it was only a few years ago.
I think the youtuber WillE made a vid about this recently, saying that the ‘classic’ model for WoW is here to stay.

The problem with SOM is TBC.
It’s impossible for a human to play both seriously. You have to make a choice at some point.
Why you would want to play a Season Of Mastery when there’s TBC ?
Why you would want to play a Season Of Mastery when there’s WOTLK ?
Why you would want to play a Season Of Mastery when you played Classic Vanilla with world buffs and mega-hype, 3 years ago ?
If people played SOM on release, it was mostly because lot of players were in a depressing state after TBC release. The changes from Vanilla to TBC with the end of Classic Vanilla, the end of battlegrounds as you know it, the end of world buff and world pvp due to flying mount, the arena meta where Rogue dominate, was depressing for many of us.
After SOM release, now people know that Classic Vanilla without world buff is very bad. Zero world pvp, zones are empties, no sense of danger, no fun allowed in raid with big numbers. All theses changes killed the fun in-game.
Imagine collecting Black Lotus on a Dreamfoil … common. If things were like that (hard to farm lotus, world buff, …), there’s a reason. Harder raids doesn’t mean fun game (hello SOM and Retail WoW).
If Devilsaur is free to farm and repop instantly, there’s no mafia => no world pvp in un’goro => less people in the zone => dead game. It’s like that, for everything.
We are responsible because we complained a lot that “World Buff suck, Black Lotus respawn suck”.
But after all, we were wrong.
SOM outside of hardcore mode doesn’t have any sense for the moment due to TBC and probably WOTLK. It can be a real thing … after WOTLK, if lot of changes are reverted.

AQ 40 from WAY BACK in ORIGINAL VANILLA was known as the “guild breaker”.
AQ 40 is NOT gonna bring back ppl, its release is gonna make ppl leave their guilds and quit b/c they are gonna go up against the hard wall of diffulty that is AQ 40 with ONE difference this time.
This time we don’t have full Tier 2 and BIS weapons like we did back in Classic.
Even with BIS weapons and full Tier 2 my guild back in Classic struggled and we had all played Original Vanilla and we came from Private Servers where the content was overtuned to be more difficult.
So AQ 40 now that virtually nobody has full tier gear and BIS weapons?
Early AQ 40 release will break the server completely ppl will quit in droves due to frustration.
Wherever private servers or classic Blizzard servers population starts to drop noticeably around AQ time. Then for Naxx even less stays. At least with AQ event there is some non-raid content. Aside of AQ20 you have the badge turn ins and some economy around require mats, people going for scarab lord and so on.
It’s kind of obvious SoM was timed to end prior to WoTLK Classic as even without that only “hardcore” would even try Naxx.
The guild breaker lul, bro guilds with 10IQ between them cleared AQ opening week last fresh. Imagine still believing the myth Classic raids were hard.
AQ40 coming soon is the only reason people who quit or bored with no content are going to come back
Just release Naxx already, so I can get Wrath Classic soon.
