Archeology in dragonflight

plz tell me that in the new expansion archeology will return.
IT would be cool to learn more about the island and the dragon race and stone gaints and such through archeology and i think its sad they never reinvented it like the other professions we have in current expansion. plz tell me we are gonne see the return of this. maby revised but i do want it to stay and grow like the other professions

I’ve never done any Archeology in wow but I do feel like if they did something with it that I could engage with it. They should have been using this and Caverns of Time to put more of the lore in-game. Too much really significant and important lore has been divested off to 3rd party media such as books, comics or youtubes.
They could do with an In for this profession. I looked at the Vial of the Sands mount and realised how much time, effort and gold would be needed to do this and was put off immediately.

In one of the interviews they mentioned they aren’t very happy with how Archeology was working so I’m not expecting it to return yet, but if they manage to find a solution they are happy with, we might.

Or they could bring a new profession like scholar or something and they could create ingame books filled with lore

I absolutely loved Archeology when it was introduced. By the time BFA came along I wasn’t really doing it, as there wasn’t really anything worth working towards and it took too long.

I would love to see it return, and made more worth while.

around 600 troll solves

that profession can stay where it is
forgotten.

I mean… it’s a pretty low-effort minigame to develop. Pet battles are probably more complicated to code. It seems sad that they just abandoned it.

And aren’t Korthia and ZM perfect places for it?

Yes it would ! :moyai:

They might plan to do some of this via the intro quests.

I love this idea, complete with scholars outfit transmog, pen set, record book, mini brush, trowel set, magnifying glass, safety lamp etc… (for an archaeologist /scholar)

Or for librarian scholar:

  • Runic date stamps

  • Self rolling parchment

  • Tome bindings

  • Goblin made endless ink well, (which sometimes explodes)

  • (Ink stained hands for unfortunate librarians)

  • Grimoire containment fields

  • Gnomish wobbly extendable ladders

  • An erratic book trolly.

(I personally prefer more scholar to Indiana Jones destructive tomb robber/treasure hunter style). :woman_shrugging:

Breathe new life into the Ironforge Hall of Explorers.

If there isn’t time to develop the profession fully, maybe throw in ten optional side quests, which will later be carried on in a future patch, leading to the next expansion after Dragonflight.

(Effort is then not wasted and alts have something to catch up on during slow times).

I also had some thoughts and ideas on libraries in an older post.
