All of my characters only have the Netherweave Bag with only 16 slots in their inventory and bank and I’m happy with that. (I only have the bag, because it only costs 1 gold something on my server and you can sell it to NPCs for 1 gold, so you don’t make a big loss)
Because I died at the event and someone rezzed me (which I find very kind), I gave him my event bag as a thank you.
Not everyone is so nice and rezz other players, even if you ask nicely in the chat. and I hate how long it takes to get back to your corpse.
He told me that 36 bags are really good, because you can only buy bags with 34 spaces. But why would you need so much space? and instead of 34 slots 36 slots, those are only 2 differences.
Is it really worth farming these bags? i just checked the auction house and the Wildercloth Bag with 32 slots only cost 39 gold, while the Azureweave Expedition Pack bag with 34 slots 2500 gold. shouldnt 32 slot bags are enough?

Yes, 36 is really good. You can only get one from the event per character at a time though. So it’s not worth trying to farm it per se. As you noticed yourself, you can easily get 30ish slotters for not much on the AH; not much at higher levels anyway. A Dragon Isles world quest or two and you’ll easily have hundreds of gold.

More space never hurts.
You’ll accumulate a lot of stuff, like the numerous different tokens in Dragonflight or additional hearthstones including whistles, that’ll clog up your inventory. Then you may want to carry around alternate gear pieces (for different specs for example). Also, when you start farming old content (raids), you will end up with a ton of loot.
This is the only way to currently get a 36 slot bag, so on a main character I’d always try to get it.

You can only get equip one of the event bags but it is free and given the 34 slot bags are very expensive, I’d say yes, it is worth farming. Why you’d need that much space depends on what content you play in game. I usually have 4 Wildercloth Bags equipped and they can easily fill up when you have quest items, gear for different specs and then do something like run an old raid for transmog. But if you’re happy with smaller bags then don’t worry
I did read somewhere though that people are selling the event bags for 50k gold, so you were very nice giving it away for free.

2 slots times 5 bags is 10 extra slots of crap filling your bags… I’d say it’s worth it

If you are someone that has a lot of different types of gear, trinkets, consumables and a fair amount of garbage in their bags (like me), having a 36 slot bag is really nice.

Wildercloth bags are cheap. On a new toon I always buy them for every slot.
You gotta love all that junk you can collect.
And the 36 slot bag is nice. It’s purple!

For me? No. I’m so bad with managing my space that my bags would be permanently full even if i had 150 slot bags.

I’d almost argue you need them.
However, I still do a very poor job with inventory management these days. Items just keep piling up and I can’t sort out where it’s all from anymore, and there’s so much of it. All sorts of random junk. And what does it all matter anyway if I’ve got a portable bank and vendor anyway. Whole inventory management gameplay is broken, it’s just weird now.

Personally i dont rly care about getting that much bag space.
Like of course im gonna swap out smaller bags in favour of the bigger bags, but im not going out of my way to farm for these better bags

It depends. I play multiple specs on some of my characters, which means I end up carrying around two or more sets of gear, different runes and phials as well as other consumables, plus a selection of spare gems and enchants… That tends to fill my main bag plus a second 32 slot bag before I even loot anything.
If you’re not carrying a load of stuff all the time, you probably don’t need so much bag space.

You answered your question, they are not FOR YOU.
He shared his opinion because he values the QoL to have extra bag space.
So if you are happy with the bags you have then the bags are not worth it for you.
You could walk around with 50 slot bags and your inventory would be full. Blizzard cant seem to help but create more junk that you need to have in your bags at all times.

You lose a bag now for your proff materials too, well, I have one of those for my main anyway. One bag is usually fairly full with HS, keystone, consumables and perhaps a few trinkets and maybe other items. That leaves what 3 bags? Easily filled up doing some world content or older raids in no time! Granted I haven’t actually farmed this new bag, and probably won’t put much effort into it! I do upgrade to the xpacs biggest bags when they’re out

A friend of me once told me that the two most important thing in a MMO is bag space and run speed…

With how much crap they fling at us these days I’m not sure it matters how many slots you have - they’ll all be full of 47 ranks of grass, pixie wings, hen’s teeth or whatever.
I guess 16 slotters have the advantage of being quicker to sort out.

As a minimalist I steer away from content / items that require me to perpetually babysit 150+ bag slots. I prefer to have some focus.
That said, it’s great to have the convenience of looting an entire raid or a couple dungeons, also to have bit of a world tour and pick up trading mats. Herbs in particular.
Most of that should ideally have a system to take care of. For example in GW2 you can stash trading mats any time, as well as start auctions from anywhere. And there is no character bank, so you likely carry around your alternative gear, as also mentioned here above.
“47 ranks of grass” sounds like profession items which shouldn’t require to carry around. Having a material bank (one slot for absolutely each material) would likely force them to streamline their inventory. Unless that’s what the current designers enjoy.
