They already do, bosses say stuff before they do a tank buster for example. It’s just way easier to have it always say the same thing. It also requires way less paying attention if something is saying what to do.
Also if you have DBM turned off it does announce some mechanics. For example the worm boss in NL. I got eaten once because it only says the attack name. I was thinking “I hope this isn’t the one where he eats me!” and sadly it was.
People aren’t against addons that add utility, e.g. to adjust the screen how you want, to sort out bags as necessary.
The issue comes when you have an encounter designed around external addons when the base UI doesn’t enable the encounter to be done as is, the need to have an addon to tell you what to do isn’t good, it’s fundamental bad design.
Something like DBM is mostly used for learning. Like how often per dungeon are you actually using a timer of DBM? Like 1 time per dungeon? After done the dungeons a couple of times you start learning what everything is doing in there.
Edit:
I think i am actually only using a couple of timers in everbloom. All the other dungeons nothing.
I have to say here, that at least Amirdrassil is done in a way that doesn’t require addon support. Every mechanic is done in either heavily scripted fashion so you are just knowing what is next, or with over the top visual cues like brutal tank swap on Volcoross where the entire monitor starts glowing very disturbingly.
And we counted and found that, compared to the goulash setup that Sepulcher was, it is actually very user friendly.
In days of yore when the Old Gods were just the Gods…
You used to need a Guild to do “Hardcore” content, Raids or rated PVP.
These days you need a Guild or Community to play in a “Casual” style. Casuals either migrated to communities where they weren’t being judged or forced into meta classes or they simply gave up grouped content altogether. Leaving behind the try-hard sweaty brigade who’ll kick you for saying hello or for doing 0.1% dps less than optimal.
There will always be people filtering each other in hardcore content.
But in WoW, even a leveling dungeon is a place where a player’s performance has allegedly being subject to harsh criticism.
Yea, like I said to Draghonis, it is just that the content that people in FF14 will be picky about is far from the mainstream level of gameplay.
Which leads us to the main and real source of problem, middle of the train wannabe-pros, who are really not that good but they act like they ate knowledge of the universe and decency of a deranged village stray dog.
I agree with you in that I never really seen any so-called toxicity in my runs, but whenever I came across somebody really really behaving in bad manner ingame, it was never the top dawgs or really casual players. Always, nasty stuff and chat and everything went from middle of the pack.
If someone goes into group content and isn’t pulling their weight they deserve to be told so. This mentality only benefits the people that want to get free carries.
