Are auction house scams against ToS?

So there is this one character who basically has auctions for every trading good & consumable ( everything with a very low auction fee ) with a low bidding price but a 500g buyout…i guess it’s only meant for people to accidentally buy it…

Is it even worth reporting or is it considered fair play since people need to pay attention to what they buy? The most annoying thing is that it messes with auctioneer auto pricing alot

It’s a scummy move, but it’s allowed. Be careful what you click to buy on AH.

That’s what i thought …oh well fair enough

If you want to piss them off, bid on every single auction they put for coppers. Yes it takes some time, but you waste their time too when they are forced to cancel and repost them.

You can’t phrase it like that. The EULA doesn’t say what is allowed and is very broad and forbids what is not reasonable when it comes to players lowering the experience for other players.

“conduct intended to unreasonably undermine or disrupt the Game experiences of others”

That is the exact wording in the EULA. So that can basically mean anything and it absolutely can mean that selling grays for 500g on AH to trick people will unreasonably undermine the experience for them, because it kinda does.

I fail to see how buying something on the AH is a scam, you pay and you receive an item.

It’s your fault if you don’t check the price.

It is a scam no doubt but that’s the price for having a free AH based on offer and demand.
You are free to ask whatever you like for your stuff.
This isn’t just a WoW in game issue it’s the market we are living in, based on lies and misinformation.

So it’s more into a grey area regarding ToS.
The seller might wanna scam but the buyer still have all the information about the trade. So both are to blame here.
Anyway Blizzard can’t do much here without interfering into the AH that’s supposed to be free.

I believe blizzard use the system, Caveat Emptor, they even say so in their loading screen tips. Is the practice despicable? Yes. Is it against the rules? No.

No, it’s not mentioned at all in the ToU.

Blizzard could offer coaching “how to pay attention” that might help.

Exactly how quickly are you trying to snipe said items without looking at the price?

Tbh I have not played classic for a while, but correct me if I am wrong. You simply cant put more than one item on AH right ? Auctioneer addon adds this option. If he has to put all of his goods on AH one by one, it could be a little complicated for them

Some addons do just so many things that should not be allowed ( spy addon ), but thats a long discussion …

Last time I encountered this behaviour, I wrote daily msg to my guild to bid on all auctions like this till the price was acceptable
More people, more work for scammer

Anyone can claim that anything undermines their experience. It’s extremely subjective. A guy dispelling your world buffs is probably undermining your experience in a raid, is that against rules too?
No one forces you to take those buffs same as no one is forcing you to buy that gray for 500g, so while it is definitely a scummy move that I do not condone, there’s nothing Blizzard should or will do about it.

just get any AH addon to prevent that from happening
