Are Covenents Another mistake?

You can’t be so obvious, mate. If you want to make a group of only white people, you need to ask them if Radiohead - Creep is their favorite song. If they say yes - you can rest assured it’s a white.

What a idea! I will try it next time on AD.

I strongly believe Covenants will be a disaster for content pushers or even just people trying to get their weekly 10/15 done.

You wont persuade people by trying to appeal to them via mythic+ meta or raiders.
It simply won’t be fun after the first month to be locked into a certain ability. End of discussion.
Imagine if you could only change your normal talent tree once a week.
Or your transmog even on a daily basis. Do you think those same people arguing for Covenants would suddenly defend that because “your choice matters”.

It don’t matter because if you chose Vanthyr you do quest for Maldraxus because they are friends of Vanthyr. So duck logic.

I don’t really know what that means.

I dont care cuz i dont do instances and i have no friends ingame

You help every faction in Shadowlands with they big problem. And then they say you are no longer they friend because you are doing quest for one of them, but thet faction send you to other faction to help them. So you are helping faction that yuo don’t like even if you don’t chose it.

Yes and it took me a whole very long patch to do this because for every key i get in, 50 bounce me.

It will be worse because you’ll have way more combination than just “its the meta tank or not”.

It’s always been like this, except blizz spent an awful lot of time in creating tools ingame for people to find other people to play with.
If it was so easy and simple finding players, why the need for those?

Be realistic, they playerbase today is way more casual than many can admit.

They are. Pugs want the easiest time possibile, so meta only.

Several layers, not just one.
Because you’ll have rio and spec, plus covenant/dungeon combo, plus covenant/spec combo, plus buff only to some classes, plus aoe caps wildly varying between spec.
It’s a huge amount of discrimination possible here, and it will happen.

This assuming your whole guild is as good as you, or you don’t care about the results.
There are tons of people who are way better than their guild average and stay there because of friendship, years of playtime togheter, play hrs and many other reason, who can afford to stay there because of the pug system allowing them freedom to play at an higher level.

Or, it’s just you with narrow minded mentality. You’re just assuming that everyone should play “to push” and if helped will grow, excluding the fact that tons of people play just 1 aspect of the game, or play just for causal fun with friends.
I can help my group, but if my group does not care about being helped to grow?
Should i drop my guild then and find another one just because the only answer to the meta problem is “make your own group?” Break years of playing togheter because the game is going every day more in creating tight player brackets rather than an inclusive enviroment?

if this was true, then nobody would care about META
I don’t think the overall tendency increased towards casual, but I believe the divide between casual and hardcore is a lot bigger.

It doesnt becouse those people also in same situation. There is not such thing as best covenant for all types of content. Everyobdy will be limited with beoing optimal. Just look at forums and players opinions on what is best covenant for this and that and you will get thousands of different asnwers. Nobady knows what is bis and nobady knows what best for what. And nboady will ever know becouse game is tunned around all 4 covenants and it has situations where it sucks and where is shines.

hugs I’ll be your friend.

But all in all why couldnt Covenents have been just cosmetic then we wouldnt have the meta bs?

causal are not just the people who play for fun.
casual today are also the people that play when they can if they can, and still have objectives and target to achieve.

Yes, yes they are

I would actually argue it’s casuals that care about meta more than hard core players.

Agree somewhat. A fair proportion of players who “pick up and put down” the game don’t necessarily study or read up on the stats in depth, instead relying on generalisations about what is good and what is not.

So they don’t necessarily know whether that marksman hunter is capable of doing a 15+, and so avoid them because the generalizations are “they’re not as good as BM”.

You can see it with a lot of questions here where people ask “if i play x class will i be able to do mythic raiding or mythic+ because i’ve heard they’re bad?” etc.

This is why player power shouldnt be associated with Covenents as it helps others dictate what Covenent any other class should go and if it changes to another Cov ability during a patch then people are not going to enjoy regrinding a new Covenent.

So should we also get button what can swap class skills? Like pala steed for warrior charge? Will it make game better ?

Whats that got to do with anything? Why should a throw away temporary power dictate how you play the game and which story you experience, it sounds misrable to me.

And to answer your question if you want the Steed roll a Paladin.

Well its same principle. You lock yourself into class get bunch of skills what you cant change and you have to play with it or spent lot of time rerolling. So maybe we should be able to change our classes with press of button.

And thats same for covenants. If you want necrolord shield roll Necrolord. If you asked for covenants being swapable its same as you would ask warrior to be swapable with for example palading so you can stay in meta.

I do more dps on my tank than half the people pugging ~+10 mythics. I’m nowhere near the high tier, maybe things change once you’re above 16, but on my level it’s a total hilarious mess. And I love it.

I was commenting on you directly saying you can’t play with your group because they’re too weak for you.
