Are normal dungeons way too easy now?

This issue has probably been raised before.

I started playing again some time ago and I like to level alts. However normal dungeon leveling 60-70 has become very tedious because the following reasons:

  1. The tank is on rush mode autopilot. Have no idea if there are mobs behind him, healer mana, or if everyone is even in the boss area when he pulls a boss. (So someone is always locked outside the bossroom).

  2. There is always for some reason a level 70 in leveling dungeons doing 10 times more damage than everyone else combined. Leading to massive packs of mobs gathered and aoe snoozefest.

There is not much to be learned from dungeons this way. So when people go into mythic + later they have no idea since they do not even notice any mechanics while leveling.

Would it be an idea to make normal mode and heroics more difficult, and even increase the rewards for completing to compensate.

It has to be really offputting to especially new players who just run after 4 other people aoe everything to the ground in 3 seconds.

What do you think is a good solution to this?

No need. There’s a reason why there’s so many different difficulties. If you think normal dungeons are too easy, do HC, or Mythic, or Mythic+

You can’t penalize people for having good gear at the end of an expansion. If people have good gear, they should be able to shred through lower difficulty content.

If I would have the option to level in this game through heroic, mythic and mythic+, then I would agree with your point.

I think there’s just too much incentive for overgeared players to go into normal/heroic which is why you hardly see groups where all people are at ilvls the content was meant for.

First of all the augment runes that are given to roles that are in high demand. Then I’m not sure about this season but previous seasons there were weekly dungeon quests for renown.

The problem isn’t the lack of progressive difficulty modes (there’s more now than ever). Some of them are simply dead (like M0 and lower M+ levels) while others are filled with overgeared players farming them because the game offers incentives.
Since the only teacher is failure, someone can get all the way to mid range keys without ever learning anything. Eventually they’ll get a group that relies on them and the finger pointing begins.

I agree to a certain point basicly untill +15 everyone can do this without a hassle, but there are players who dont even can do +10 or lower just because they dont put time to understand their class or even the dungeons. Most people pvp in this game because its easier to gear up to a certain point.

The reason you’ll see a level 70 in a normal dungeon is due to a possible quest, where they need to go in there and pick up an item.

I imagine others may just be a bit bored and want to boost randoms through their dungeon.

The tank thing you mentioned is normal these days. Even worse is when someone dies and they don’t get resurrected, so you have to release and run back and hope you don’t get kicked out the group because you aren’t there for the pull >_<

But trust me, you won’t learn about boss mechanics for Mythic+, until you’ve started your key runs. Also with the “follower” dungeons, if people want to learn what a boss does, then that is a great way if you want to take your time.

Yeah, normal is too easy and too fast. I really agree with it. But I assume people want it this way

I see OPs point, i made a post a few months ago about how much of a race leveling alts (or even your fist toon) in retail is. Everything is go go go until end game. Theyhave follower dungeons now which slowed the dungeon down but you take a hit on exp.

Its also hard to try a learn new roles if everyone in the dungeon is trying to finish it asap - talking about healing or tanking. There is already more pressure when healz/tank and the rush just adds to it.

Just as a idea they could implement something like joyous journeys from classic. Plays with it on go into one pool for dungeons and those without go in another…

There should be a tourist difficulty like normal to discover dungeons and stuff. Heroic should be removed, it serves no purpose whatsoever.

And on the same note, everything up until M+20 included is a bit too easy right now.

I’ve made the same observation. Roughly since Mythic dungeons were introduced, all difficulties below just turned way easier. What has been nhc and hc in Cata+ is now hc & mythic (or even above). That’s also why I tend to complain about why the group finder was “removed” from mythic dungeons…

Easier isn’t always better. It would be nice if nhc dungeons would require ppl to play the mechanics and wipe from time to time; nowadays you can just ignore them and never die. Would help ppl to realize there actually are mechanics to react to and get them used to wiping, so they don’t leave instantly if it happens later on on higher difficulty.

It’s call to arms 99% of the time.

The rest is brakenhide where people need the altar of rot to do a craft.

Also I almost forgot but LFD dungeons still have the 5% buff per player you weren’t originally grouped with (stacking up to 3 times) giving most people a 15% increased output (unless it’s a premade).

It was made to counteract the uncoordinated nature of random groups, but seeing how easy those dungeons are nowadays I don’t think it’s necessary anymore.

for you i guess. i struggle in M0

I broke +19 key Throne with a group that had 2 485, 1 483, 1 479 and me who was 469, just because they were clueless about some boss mechanics. Granted, they were all french, so my standards shouldn’t be high, but you’re not supposed to die in the first 10 seconds or so against Ozumat because you stood in that big aoe on the ground that is very visible, and that gives you about 2-3 seconds to react. Except it happened, for 2 people.

Imo, people like these being able to get so close to the highest ilvl possible indicates how easy it is to get geared nowadays.

How can i explain myself better? Its perfect you can broke a + 30000000 with your skills.

But exists people that never want or care or dare go above a certain level. So you can do any key and let the other people stay in low keys or heroic.
What’s the problem?
