I find it odd that Night elves sacrificed the souls of their entire population only for the dragons to be the ones blessed by the tree.
Did the night elves honestly go to hell and back to have another species which did almost nothing get all the reward?
I also find it highly hypocritical that they would mention night elf immortality as selfish. Still, the dragon’s reasons for gaining their aspectral power were equally selfish.
Or did I read the situation wrong? Am I missing something?
No, they aren’t. They were granted immortality by the world tree they sacrificed at the end of Warcraft 3. Queen Azshara is a Naga and, while having an extended life due to arcane magic, was never immortal.
The aspects gave them immortality after the war of the ancients to help them protect the well of eternity, and they were denied it by the aspects again.
So, can someone who knows the lore answer my question, please?
They said they usually bless the world tree but this time Azeroth choose to bless them showing there is no distinction between Azeroth and the tree but the power came from its manifestation into the real world.
It is a bit confusing and does leave a lot of questions. What I gathered from it was a hint towards TWW and Azeroth calling to people for help. I hope there are more small questlines in the next few weeks because otherwise we have no answers to:
What about the Flame Druids reconciliation?
Why wouldn’t they ask for immortality from the dragons again? Or rather, Nozdormu.
How did the Nelf souls exactly empower(?) Amirdrassil?
What is the actual point of a world tree? (Something something ley lines? I can’t remember)
So we are saying that the Night elves are left to rot even though the tree itself is made from the souls of their entire population and the only ones who benefited from this whole situation were the dragons. The primary threat to the tree was the dragons in the first place, why do they even deserve to have these powers, to begin with when they sacrificed nothing to get them?
Aspect powers are not immortal powers?.. Dragons in wow dont die from aging from the very start as seen from every other dragon that isent an aspect, or even from a non aspect flight.
It was mainly Nozdormus blessing that kept them from aging as you know… TIME aspect and he didnt or couldnt do so again with Teldrasil before the events of Cata when he losts his powers… you know sacrificing his power for Azeroth and now Azeroth giving it back.
Only the aspects don’t die, all the other dragons do die. This is why you have Dragon Blight which was a dragon graveyard and even if you look at early lore for wow you can look up life spans dragons are included there and are not considered immortal just long-lived.
Thought that was mainly just from the fight with Galakrond and that most dragons that died were from unnatural deaths. Its called blight for a reason, or atleast that was my reasoning.
No, this is from exploring Azeroth Northrend “ Dotting the wasteland are dragon shrines dedicated to each of the dragonflights, where a number of dragons go when their lives are at an end.”
Yes, but they aren’t immortal. Even the nightborne were around during the war of the ancients. Dreanai live up to 25,000 years +. The reason night elf immortality was so special is because they didn’t age at all due to the blessing of the aspects.
Oh I am afraid it does. Just check the dictionary.
" adjective
not mortal; not liable or subject to death; undying:"
@Bodhi Dragons are not immortal though, as shown by the fact Senegos dies in the blue dragon qline. They just live a very long time. Aspects are not immortal, as shown in the recent book they worry over Alexstrasza dying all the time (which is fair to not know given it’s a book not in game) they can just live an extremely long time. Whether this is due to them being ordered or not, I don’t know.
