So was Tyrande with much of the new patch… hell much of the emerald flight questline as a whole. So with screentime alone Tyrande wins over Sylvanas by a big margin. Lets not forget that dungeon in legion that made most of the playerbase actually want to kill Tyrande and Malfurion.
Only real diff is the CGI cinematics that Sylvanas got, nothing else!
What you mean where is your story? Whole BFA and last part of SL was yours. Not sylvanus but forsaken. You got literary best heritage armor of all the races. You commited genocide, blighted Darkshore, slaughtered woman and children. There is your story. If you are not satisfied with it that’s your problem but you didn’t loose population, and you was not thrown out of your homeland. You are there since moment Arthas turned Lordaerions to undead. You took it back, Twice Once after deed was done and once in SL. Only thing you lost is a lunatic leader who actually never gave a damn about you. You should be glad for that.
At least, with Calia now, a sister of Arthas you have legitimate right to Loarderon as your own, not same for people from Loarderon who are still living in SW. Anduin Lothar for example, remember him? And don’t worry, the moment blizzard conclude this god damn awful story about Night Elves, it will be your turn and it will be glorious. Not even close to disapointment Night Elfs got. It was already seen when you retake Loarderon back in SL and defended it from Scralets in heritage. Night Elfs got copy paste qhest chain from Vanilla-Wotlk from Jaedenar with bugged to death Maiev Thanks Blizz
Don’t worry about forsaken. You are in for great time.
See? And you got REWARDED for it without even asking for reward. With cherry on top, you threw Night Elves from their homeland which is now horde territory as a whole. I envy you as much as I hate your race lol
The subjective sense of being rewarded. Yeah, I do feel good when I get to play the Forsaken as Forsaken, which I haven’t been able to in quite some time.
Asked once by Fandral after planting Teldrassil. Didn’t get it. Even Malfurion was against it for some reason.
Never asked before nor after.
Hell, they didn’t even ask for the first one but that immortality came with a twist. Eternal watch of Nordrassil and Emerald Dream.
Nothing you say will change these people’s minds, I just want Warcraft 3 Night Elves again and actual cultural development instead of purple high Elves.
Dragons aren’t immortal btw…they are LONG LIVED. Senegos himself says so, only ASPECTS are immortal. Though they live incredibly long…Alex’s consort was around 20k years old at the least and was still at peak. Senegos died of old age, that should tell you how old they can get.
As for aspects didn’t sacrifice anything…They lost 3 of their numbers well almost, majority of their kin constantly died while trying to protect the world. They gave away their aspectral powers to stop hour of twilight.
Nelfs in similar fashion gave way their immortality to stop the legion.
Difference is…Aspects weren’t asking to be given their powers back from the world or asking for it, alex makes it clear, she says they came here to defend the tree and the world expecting nothing in return.
Night elves legit made a tree to GET THEIR IMMORTALITY BACK, asking for it, expecting it. That’s the difference.
Immortality bit was for people mentioning dragons already being immortal xD read most of the answers but didn’t want to post multiple things.
If you are referring to aspects, they openly state that they weren’t trying to get their powers back defending Amirdrassil, and they appear to be equally surprised to have their aspectral powers renewed through it.
No they said they needed to get them back as a matter of their survival as they couldn’t fight primalists it was the whole reason for their oathstones.
Getting ready to sleep, pills re swallowed so now all that remains is to close my eyes in few minutes and fall asleep so I will answer this quickly.
Noght Elgs didnt ask for Immortality after Nordrassil. Small sect of druids connected to Fndral Staghelm did. And because of that they kept Malfurion in unnatural long sleep with Morrowgrain.
Malf man was against it.
Second, even more important. Night Elves didn’t ask for immortality even when Nordrassil was born. They got it as a gift and punishment in same place. Gift was Immortality. Punishment is eternal watch of Nordrassil for regular Night Elves and eternal watch of Emerald Dream for druids.
Main reason why Nordrassil was planted was because traitor Illidan poured 3 vials of well of eternity into lake on top of Hyjal literary converting it to new Well of Eternity. That’s why he was inprisoned and called a traitor. Because of that Night Elfs had to abandon Hyjal which they started to consider their new home because water in Hyjal was poluted and couldn’t be used for drinking anymore. So they went to Moonglade and lived there for few millenia. And next thing why Nordrassil was even grown is exactly because of what Illidan did. Ysera brought last branch of G’hanir, a world tree inside Emerald Dream, and planted Nordrassil on top of Well of Eternity.
Now all this was for nothing because with second comming of Legion, Archimonde wanted this new Well to summon rest of the legion and Sargares (just like in War of the ancients trilogy) to Azeroth. Events of WC 3. So, Malfurion and the Night lvs did only thing they could do. They designed a trap to slow down Archimonde with three settlments, First by Thrall and ocs, secon line by Jaina and humans and third by Tyrande and Night Elfs to buy Malfurion enough time to summon all the wisps to detonate in exact moment Archimonde get his dirty fell hands on it. De facto killing him but severly damaging Nordrassil who is still healing 30 years after. Night Elfs lost their immortality.
Now. I will not get into Fandral decision if it was a good and right choice or not. It IS understandable because not ALL Night Elfs agreed to this.
That is why he tried to grow new tree to re gain immortality to his own people so no one would have to die again like his wife and son. (small note here) Jarod Shadownsong’s wife was first one who died from old age in 10 000 years of history.
Problem is, he did it for selfish reasons. And Malfurion was against that.
Result. Teldrassil became corrupted by Emerald nightmare and Xavius. Events in Stormage novel, read it, very good book. Before the events in the book. Alextrazsa sensec that Teldrassil is showing a resilliance towards Nightmare and was fighting against it. During the events of the book. Teldrassil was fighting alongside Malfurion, Tyrande, Varian, the orc female, never bither to remember the name, but I remember she was niece of Broxifar. and rest. With Tyrande by his side Malfurion fought way over hi s limits. At first, one second he was in E.D. fighting nightmare and xavius, next one he was in mortal world fighting Nightmare there.
When the battle was over, and Malfurion with his help of Tyrande, orc Varian, Broll Bearmantle, and others with two unexpected aids from Teldrassil AND Nordrassil who was and is still healing, there was a weddig of Malf man and Tyrande. In this wedding, Alextrazsa blessed Teldrassil again and Ysera for the first time. Nozdormu was not there and Immortality was not regained.
Great book for those who wish to understand Teldrassil and stop calling it corrupted and Nordrassil along with who and what Malfurion really is. For the first time since WOTA we saw him in action. And it was awsome. Read the book I think 10 years ago and still remember it very well, Well i remember it all except for orc female who I don’t even want to know the name because I don’t care about horde P
Eeesh, while explanation is correct perhaps it was a misunderstanding alas, OP’s calling out was towards dragons calling elf’s earlier attempt selfish. Was merely explaining WHY they called it selfish. As the ones who raised Teldrassil did so expecting immortality, ie Fandral. Also from what I recall it wasn’t a small sect but rather cenarion circle and the grove of elders.
"In Malfurion’s absence, Archdruid Fandral Staghelm took over leadership of the night elven druids, and convinced the Circle of the Ancients in Darkshore that it was time for the night elves to create a new World Tree and regain their immortality.
The Circle of the Ancients and the wise druids led by Fandral combined their powers to grow an immense tree in the Veiled Sea. They called the tree Teldrassil, meaning “crown of the earth” in Darnassian." Not that it matters, as the topic of debate wasn’t the spefication but rather the difference between teldrassil case of immortality and aspects current blessing.
They said they needed their blessing to defeat teh primalists, and were trying to empower the oathstones at the beginning of the xpack yes, yet if you watched the cutscene you would find out well: Spoilers below for post raid cutscene and dialogues
Kalecgos: How can this be? Our aspectral powers...have returned?
Ebonhorn: Azeroth..Blessed us.
Alex: I thought to survive, we needed to reclaim our aspectral powers, but they were never ours to take.
-Post Raid Dialogues-
Alex: I did not expect to see our aspectral powers returned to us in this maner.
Not so long ago, Fandral Staghelm asked us to bless Telrassil, as we did Nordrassil long ago. It was a selfish request, born not out of desire to protect or serve, but simply live forever. We refused.
We did NOT fight to protect Amirdrassil for power. We did as we have always done—fought to protect our world. And the -WORLD- in turn offered us a means to protect it.
Not all. Just some in Darnassus. Most didn’t even know there was a portal to E.D. in Teldrassil too.
Especially not the druids outside Darnassus like the few in Feathermoon Stronghold who was also asking players to bring them Morrowgrain because they deemed it suspitius and didn’t trust Fandral. And again. Smal part of druids, few chosen ones joined Fandral. Tyrande didn’t know anything about this, neither did any sentinl nor civilian nor priestes of the moon.
As I said. Night Elves didn’t ask for first immortality just like Dragons didn’t ask it in DF, but they was seeking it and there comes the thrown out story about Oathstones. Then their second hope was Tyr. So yes, Dragon wanted aspectral powers and immortality back. There is not denaying that, but I guess they didn’t know, just like Night Elfs in WOTA trilogy that they will get it. Night Elves got it from Dragons through Nordrassil, with a duty. Dragons got it from Azeroth through Amirdrassil. Remains to be seen if there will be any kind of duty applied on them
Not my problem. Use common sense. The world isn’t how you would wish it to be. It’s also a video game I have better things to spend my shreds of humanity over
