The first bit a slight bit off topic but give to my curiosity, genuine question here as it is a bit of an old lore: Not all. Just some in Darnassus. Most didn’t even know there was a portal to E.D. in Teldrassil too.
Is this stated anywhere? Always open to read more, especially when pedia doesn’t have the citation source anymore. So far it reads as fandral taking over malfi and dragging night elven druids and ancients. (I am referring to druids btw, I know tyrande/none druids weren’t aware, but are there any foot notes on whatever or not he took the entire circle or not?)
However back to the main topic. I believe the general distinction is: Dragons seeked immortality ie aspectral powers because they believed they needed them to protect the world, fight primalists.
While they SPECIFICALLY state that nelfs (by that I am referring to fandral and ones who followed him) asked for immortaltiy not to serve nor protect. As again Alex specifically states. There lies the difference.
Again, Alex refers to fandrals request, not the entire elven kin. And compares HIS case to THEIRS
It’s a shame that the story bends over backwards to make Night Elves seeking a return to a state of immortality into misguided fools. I’m so tired of that ridiculous trope and the constant glorification of generic humans.
The Night Elves have consistently been selfless and sacrificed much in the name of trying to keep not only Kalimdor safe but Azeroth as a whole. That they were not perfect is irrelevant, especially given how the Aspects sacrificed their powers to protect Azeroth only to fall prey to corruption themselves at various points. Now they’re back to their former position, which would be fine if the game wasn’t quite obviously making excuses not to restore the status quo for the Night Elves after all they’ve been through.
They do not need to make them immortal in the present. Simply declaring that someday, when the new world tree has grown stronger, the Night Elves will regain their immortality would have been enough. It doesn’t interfere with game mechanics or the sense of one playable race being essentially immortal if that is the reasoning for not doing it.
Then again, there’s multiple long lived races as playable options who are basically immortal anyway - which just makes it seem like spite writing.
Yep. in Stormrage the part of portal, rest of the druids of the flame is explained in Cataclysm. Fandral secretly used that portal to talk with this dead son who was actually Xavius the trickster in disquise. He used Fandral to corrupt Teldrassil by adding a branch of nightmare somewhere in the boughs of Teldrassil. There comes Cata and Night Elf starting zone where we defeat that nightmare in Teldrassil.
For that part you would have to make Night Elf and play classic before Cata revamp. There is whole questline about Morrowgrain and sleeping Malfurion (poisoned actually). Through playing with that version of wow you will understand that very small numbers of druids was on Fandral’s side. and not even one who was somewhere else. After you get to Feathermoon stronghold you speak with a druid who is suspicious of what Fandral is doing abd you are tasked to bring more morrowgrain to him so he can see what is up with Fandral
Yup. Only that small part of Fandral’s druid who also planted the Aldrassil in Grizzley hills in order to stop the spread of Sronite. And it worked for a while. But old god’s blood again corrupted Aldrassil (crown of the north) and Night Elfs had to chop it down and since then it was known by the name of Vordrassil (Broken Crown)
Teldrassil was their final try and it worked. The tree fough corruption on it’s own and even Malfurion and Alextrazsa was baffled by it. That’s when Alextrazsa blessed Teldrassil for the first time.
But yes, Fandrals demands of Aspect’s blessings was denied.
Night Elves didn’t ask for immortality in first place, they got it as a reward for fight against the Legion in WOTA and as a duty to keep a watch over Emerald Dream and Nordrassil.
They don’t even have to regain immortality. Some like Malfurion and Tyrande are not sure they would accept it. And Immortality does not mean certanty of not dying . They would not die from diseases or old age, but they could be killed or died by some kind of accident. Many immortal night Elves died in war of Satyr, War of shifting sands, and how knows how much more battles or wars they been through in last 10 000 years. Especially in WC3 before Archimonde was destroyed.
Many died after, from old age . Jarod’s wife was probably the first one.
Nightborne are Blood elves. In the war of the ancients books there were only Night elves, all developed a magic addiction because of the arcane well (or whatever it was called), especially the High born. Malfurion found an alternative with druidism and was essentially immune to the addiction.
Midway during tWotA some of the high borne rebeled and joined Malfurions side. At the end of the war Illidan took 3 vial of watter from the arcane well, one he gave to the rebel high borne, who went out to EK and became High elves. The remaining High born are split into 2, the ones we met in the broken isles and the ones who remained loyal to Azshara and are now naga.
What mind cotrol thing? If you are talking about the soul fragment, that was taken from her the moment she body slided into frostmourne, Jailer just returned it her. What you saw in SL was Sylvanas 100%.
More like ascended, right? Being from a Quel’dorei house implies a distinction from the lowborne within your kin, both during the Kaldorei Empire and even now. The name Quel’dorei itself signifies the Highborne, akin to the Shal’dorei. Do you recall Elisande in the Gates of Nighthold, or the NPC quotes
They actually did, but Nozdormu refused to bless their tree as he believed the Night Elves were asking for too much.
Which was present even during the Kaldorei Empire; the Quel’dorei were feeding off mana crystals, as mentioned in the chronicles. In one instance, a Pandaren encounters a couple of Quel’dorei looking for mana crystals to sustain themselves. You all need to stop from labeling the Shal’dorei and the Sin’dorei as addicts. All elven groups in the Azeroth depend on some form of magic in one way or another; there is no such thing as a ‘pure’ elf
Another blatant lie. If you have at least learned the lore of the Quel’dorei, you would know that there were many more noble houses among them. The House of Shen’dralar merely bears the name of Highborne, lacking the nobility and respect they once held in the Empire. Can we truly consider the last surviving outcasts, who bowed down before the lowborne, as the Highborne? Clearly not.
The genuine Highborne are the Shal’dorei, residing in the last Quel’dorei city, Suramar, as well as the Sin’dorei in their Quel’dorei city, Quel’thalas.
Additionally, being Highborne meant you hailed from a city, were educated, and held nobility—it did not denote a new race. On the other hand, the Kaldorei, including yourself, were regarded as lowborne.
What? Quel’dorei was not different in any way from rest of Kaldorei. The actuall race name. Quel’dorei started to call themselfs that to put a wedge between casts. Lord Kur’thalos Ravencrest was considered Quel’dorei, yet he realized what his cast/cult is doing. Same as was Quel’dorei of Eldre’thalas (Dire Maul) who later rejoined their brother and sisters in Darnassus.
Shal’dorei are de facto devolved Quel’dorei which means they are devolved Kaldorei.
Cowards who never fought the Legion with their brothers and rest of Azeroth.
Hell, even Tauren fought beside them.
The conversations about this kind of Immortality, first one and how they get it was after WOTA, when Betrayer poisoned waters in lake of Hyjal which was supposed to be Night Elven new home effectivly turned into new Well of Eternity. Then comes the story of Ysera, branch of G’hanir, Nordrassil and blessing of Aspects and Nelven immortality.
That time Night Elves DIDN’T ask for immortality. None of them even thought of it. They got it for thanks for defending Azeroth from lunatic Quel’dorei, and with a task to defend Nordrassil and Emerald Dream. Is that understood?
Fandral did it on his own. He and a small number of druids while he kept poisoning Malfurion with Morrowgrain. He planted Teldrassil thinking aspect will bless it again, which they refused ofc.
So keep in mind. Fandral and few druids. Not Night elves because except for this small group no one even knew about their plan. That’s why you need to gather Morrowgrain for a druid in Feathermoon Stronghold, so he can research what is Fandral doing.
Don’t skip the sory and fact which I aleady mentioned.
Again false. Kaldorie’s source of Arcane came directly from Well of Eternity.
Kaldorei now is a pure elf
O for god’s sake. Did you played Cata? Did you read any books, did you even read any quest lines?
No, They are devolved Quel’dorei. Addicted to mana wine. in a city where Tyrande, Malfurion, Maiev, Jarod and many others grew up. Place where Illidan burned Broxigar and Tyrande healed his wounds. City from which Malfurion was mostly gone and learn from Cenarius.
Again. Sin’dorei are yet another devolved Kaldorei
Dude, I just told you who’s city Suramar was… And you will call Warden not educated. Illidan not educated, Malfurion not educated. Don’t even have to mention TYRANDE who was Priestess of the moon in Suramar. She was un educated too? Thing is. Quel’dorei turned their back to Elune and completely embraced Arcane with Well of Eternity as it biggest source. Azshara, Lady Vashj, Xavius and many other which I forgot the names now. This Quel’dorei are responsible for inviting Legion and sundering.
A bunch of them realized they are on the wrong side and rebelled against their sect, and fought with Tyrande, Illidan and Malfurion. After war was over they all came to Hyjal. And since they didn’t want to give up the Arcane, they was banished. (btw Kael’thas grandfather or father was one of them) Don’t remember exactly now.
So he, the Sunstider and a bunch of Quel’dorei went to Eastern Kingdoms, while other went to Ferales in to their town named Eldre’thalas which later became known as DIre Maul.
Those are only remaining unchanged Quel’dorei which are now a part of Kaldorei
Please, read and learn. Don’t jump into the topic unprepared, especially not with me about Night Elves
Those were the Highborne(Quel’dorei) not the NE(Kal’dorei) we play, also yeah most of the named subraces from your post are a bit unfair seeing as it was 1 NE that went bad causing the sundering and unleashing the naga and trolls, so although you could say it was all night elves, that would be a bit unfair seeing as we dealt with them each time and single handedly taught humans how to nuke trolls and kill nagas, we solve our “mistakes”, so it works the same way that we don’t go saying the humans are responsible for arthas.
And its possible you have a anti-bias against night elves but Malkanthia is right, everything cool about night elves has been kinda sht on, our rituals, characters, culture and power has all lead to “basic elves that aren’t immortal who kinda like druidism” and to say that the change was in warcraft 3 is wrong because the only thing we lost there was our imortality, nothing else of what they’e stripped since then
The Shal’dorei are the image of what the Quel’dorei of the Empire would have become gradually have they had the access to arcane like the Nightborne did for the last 10,000 years.
Kur’talos during the Legion’s attack on Black Rook Hold in the War of Ancients. The Ravencrest clan was a noble one, but it was not of the Highborne caste .
The nightborne are the night elves of Suramar who fought the Legion in the great War of the Ancients to defend their home and close a second demonic portal using the Eye of Aman’thul that would have overtaken and outflanked the resistance forces led by Kur’talos Ravencrest and Malfurion Stormrage to stop Queen Azshara.
Ashamane sacrificed herself in the gates of Suramar to let the Highborne of Suramar to cast their magical barrier to seal off.
Which were forgotten by the Nightelves as well. Who are the cowards again?
Nordrassil got is special status as world tree because it was blessed by all of the dragon aspects. However, the immortality part specifically came from Nozdormu’s blessing, which makes sense since he’s the aspect of time.
When the Teldrassil was created, they didn’t receive a blessing of immortality from Nozdormou because they nurtured it with selfishness in their hearts. Basically instead of creating this world tree for the inherent good it would cause like the first one, they created it in hopes of reclaiming their former glory and immortality, therefore they did not deserve to have it.
Read the Pearl of Pandaria, it mentions how the Pandaren made contact with the Highborne of Elde’rath, and how they observed their culture, they mention that the Highborne do need magic to sustain otherwise they become whitered. They were feeding of Azsharite.
They were born and raised in the country side of Suramar, never in the city itself. Stop the bs. Suramar was way bigger than what we have at the moment.
Was not even a thing during the Empire times.
Year -10,000: After the Sundering, Malfurion Stormrage concluded that his brother Illidan Stormrage must be imprisoned for attempting to make a second Well of Eternity. Maiev Shadowsong volunteered to be his jailor and was awarded the title Warden. She recruited other volunteers primarily from the Sisterhood of Elune and this group became known as the Watchers. It’s important to note that all Wardens are Watchers but not all Watchers are Wardens. Watchers are the group whereas Warden is a rank within that group.
Illidan was educated in the Moon Guard, and became very good at wielding arcane. But he was never ranked as a Highborn, as the title Highborne passes from blood to blood.
If you would open your eyes and read unbiased lore, perhaps I would. But I wont, lowborn.
Omg man… Please stop, my head hurts from all the insanity you pulled out here. Not to mention my stomach from laughter hahaha
Listen… fat human…
No the yare not because they turned back to Elune, raised cowardly shield and lost every connection to Moon Goddess. Case closed. Quel’dorei in kalimdor and in Eldre’thalas remain unchanged. So your theory falls into deep water and it’s drowned.
What do you think LORD MEANS? A NOBLE. Higher cast then peasents or normal peole. What was Quel’dorei? Exactly that. LORD Xavius. Ring a bell? Main advisor to queen Azshara lol lol lol
They literary raised the shield because they DIDN’T fight the Azshara and Legion. Cowards. Rest of the world was dying but it’s ok, we live in a city with a shield on hahahahaha
Which Tauren? the Tauren in WOTA was Highmountain Tauren. And Nelves remember them very well. Especially Tyrande. And EVEN if they forgot that Tauren, which they have not, what that have to do with being coward? Prime example of cowardice in Wow is nightborne. Period.
You are completely confusing two different immortalities. What is so hard to understand
I just told you the story. READ it please
A cowards own problem. They shielded themselfs in Suramar. Trande’s Malfurion’s Maiev’s Jarod’s Ravencrest’s city. You CAN’T change that.
If they didn’t and actually fought with rest of Kaldorei, yes, some would die. But explain to me Eldre’thalas Quel’dorei? UNCHANGED over 10000 years ago without access to Well of Eternity. Nightborne are not only cowards but they sealed their fate the moment when they turned to Arcane and turned their back to Elune.
They was born and raised IN Suramar. humbler houses maybe, but in the city lol
Exactly!!!
She got awarded the title Warden. A TITLE
Who do you think watched over Nelf criminals during their empire? Wardens lol
And who said Illidan is Highborne? No he is not. he is TWIN brother of Malfurion. He wanted to be one, and he became one by betraying his brother and Tyrande. Read WOTA
As I already told you, Quel’dorei (Highborne) ARE Kaldorei. Only difference is one considered themselves as nobles and one’s didn’t. SO Simple, and yet you don’t want to admit it
I am telling you exactly all the lore of Night Elves connected to this conversation between you and me from every source you can imagine hahaha
Now I am putting a stop to this because it takes too much time from my job to explain something to someone who don’t want to understand or learn.
You HATE Night Elves. I understand that and it is your right. I hate fat humans. It’s my right, but I don’t pretend I know much about Kul’tirans except what was introduced in game and few other sources. And I DON’T CARE You will not see me preaching false information about some other race, like your fat humans and look stupid doing it because as i said I don’t know much. Just as you don’t know one tenth of Night Elven lore and this little you know is all false and creamed with blatant hatred towards a race.
Cya
They litetrary struck a bargain with Legion for their lives AND raised the shield to be protected from Sundering. They was living with DEMONS for last 10 000 years
