Who are these “many” people and how exactly does SL seems unfinished to “them” ?
Please, dont tell me your source is these drama queen youtubers/streamers that quit BFA crying like babies, went played classic and after 2 months they where ultra-pro-BFA again… Please dont.

I’m not sure I trust any of those sources. It seems like an echo chamber of stupid if I’m honest. “Youtube comments”, really?

It’s not like it takes more than 10 minutes to go into some threads and see people saying it seems unfinished.
I love WoW, I really do but it seems a bit off to me.
The community does not speak with one voice, for all of the push it back, release it later views there are also the release it now I can’t wait views. And probably many in between.
I know, Puny. But I’m just saying that there are a lot of people saying that it seems unfinished which scares me honestly.
Well, I think people are too trusting of sources or they just live in an echo chamber of stuff that confirms their pre-conceived ideas.
If you watch a video critical of SL you’ll get recommended 100 more on the same theme. You won’t get a balanced view of things that are working well or the hundreds of examples of where they listened to feedback and improved things.
How about you make up your own mind? Get on the PTR or beta if you can instead of resorting to the “they say” type threads that add nothing?
Just look at Path of Exile for example, that is a fairly popular Diablo like game. Every 3 months, there is a new challenge league, which introduces 3 new cosmetic items which are only available during that league. Every game operates with that because of obvious reasons.
Saying that it’s straight bad is stupid. There are upsides and downsides of it for sure, but it’s not straight bad or good.
Maybe it’s medicore for you, but not for others. WoW got a huge player base it’s impossible to please everyone.
For example was BFA good or not?
You can say some people say it’s good! Some don’t but who knows.
Then for example 80% of my friendlist went empty after first 2 months of BFA.
Those are people I met in Legion.
I don’t have beta access, I do have ptr, and it seems buggy. 
Some abilities don’t work at all.
For example my boyfriend was testing his leg sweep as a monk and it didn’t stun me and I was next to him.
There are many others.
I’ll be honest, this feels like one of those generic whine posts where you don’t really have any clue what you’re talking about but “you heard” stuff. All noise and no signal if you will.
Also, leg sweep can be dodged. Are you sure it was a bug?
Yup, we did it in a duel. Also the healing orbs don’t spawn for some reason.

I don’t disagree they should communicate more. I am pretty tired of every person interpreting it to mean what they think it should based on their biases.

I love this game so much! It’s been part of my childhood and I don’t want to let it go. But I want it to be good and enjoyable last two patches of Battle of Azeroth were not so good for me…
Its actually hilarious because your argument is instantly overruled while you claim “lots of people” without even you knowing wth you talk about im afraid.
You cant love this game and get infuented by social media click baiters that managed to downrail BFA for nothing just because they are attention seeking XXXXX.
If you love this game, you play it even at its worst state and enjoy it. BFA or even WoD was OK for me because I DO LOVE the game and had lots of fun with guildies and even pugs playing it.
I don’t have the information of how many beta testers and other people have said that it seems unfinished, but I have seen lots.
I don’t find it funny at all.
I wouldn’t be influenced if I played the beta. I’m just saying what I heard and how it seems to me.
You don’t need to watch a single video or open social media at all to know that it is not good.
You only need to go on Beta/PTR to figure out that Shadowlands is unfinished and still needs a lot of work.
Furthermore, that BFA had big problems has been recognized by the devs themselves: it’s definitely not some misleading narrative pushed by a few “influencers”.
