I held off making a separate thread specifically about this, hoping this matter would be addressed or at least get more attention. But here we are, almost a full week in, and the Void-Scarred Lynx still has a 0.7% drop rate, and somehow, everyone’s just fine with that?
No blue post, no tweak, barely any conversation.
To be completely clear here: this isn’t some rare legacy drop from an old expansion. This isn’t Invincible (that actually has a higher drop chance!). This is a recolor of an existing model, tied to current content, dropping from satchels you can only get three times a day per character. It’s not tied to difficulty or progression, it’s just pure lazy out-of-touch last-minute RNG.
The fact that this kind of design is still being silently accepted is just sad at this point. We’ve been here before in SL and BFA, and people hated it then. So why is this okay now?
The drop chance has to be increased. This isn’t rewarding. It’s not fun. It’s just bad design, and it deserves to be called out.
EDIT: Edited the original text and title. The Wowhead counter now shows 0.7%, used to be 0.8%.
But to play devil’s advocate, low drop chance on newly-released stuff is not itself bad. It gives players a sense of good luck when they get a rare item and of uniqueness when they show it off in capitals or instances or wherever. But when content becomes obsolete or even legacy, drop rates should either get close to 100% or everything with a drop chance should become available on a vendor. Yes, this includes Ashes of Al’ar, Invincible and even those 1/20000 chance pets.
The game should simply recognise your attempts on a boss and after let’s say two years worth of id (that ofcourse only works for raids) you get the mount.
Or if that takes away the excitement since it’s guaranteed let the Dropchance go up ever so slightly. If I farm a mount every week for two years the drop chance could be at 30%.
I personally have tried over 1000 times to get the strat mount for years and that are only the attempts where I specifically went there for the mount not the amount of random dungeonfinder runs I was there.
I have only seen the mount drop once since vanilla one day I just stopped cause I felt stupid for running it again and again and again
that is why I don’t search or run after mounts - I simply ignore them and if I get mount then all good and fun - if not - I won’t even have idea there was a mount. Ignorance is a bliss in that case.
I got this mount after like 20th opened stachel in total - got lucky etc but for sure there are mounts that I’m not aware of, with low drop chance and I don’t pursuit them because I have a lot things to do.
And as a side note - it is ground mount so you wouldn’t use it anyways.
I don’t mean this in an offensive way, as I firmly believe in the rule of “to each their own”, but reading these replies, it makes me realise how truly dead the community of collectors is, and I question why I dedicated my last 5 years to heavily grinding everything.
