As a tank I now leave at the first sign of abuse

Sure, I rarely even watch chat since I am used to be on discord, it rarely happened to me to have found people toxic about how I play.

But i think the community should really try and improve itself instead of driving people away.

Never seen this happen, of course there are overconfident and too easily offended people around but really doubt the majority get mad at helpful tips.

The problem is, in timed content a lot of people prefer not wasting 10 second writing down a super helpful tip and then proceed to waste 2 min between the fight gone bad, the death of 5 people and running back to the point you wiped.

First week of M+ I was doing a Sanguine Depth and was writing down to others I would pull a room for %, a dps went all “omfg don’t write it is timed content gogo you don’t need that” and skipped the room.

We waste like 5 min trying to aggro the bats in the corridor to last boss because we were missing % thanks to that person.

Raid are way cooler Imo because instead of reforming the group, explaining tactics might net you way better results.

It is pretty hilarious, as they almost always get the words and context wrong. Generally they are very uptight younger people, who would not -dare- speak to someone the way they do in game for fear of being sparked out, but the internet makes them feel brave.

‘Soyboy’ is a ridiculous phrase anyway. Lets pick that one apart first. Because I do -love- shattering the fragile little petals that are Internet tough guys…

Humans aren’t meant to drink actual milk after we are weaned. No mammal is. It is actually incredibly bad for most mammals to drink milk after being weaned onto solid food. Yes. Even Cats. Especially Cats in fact, it can cause them liver damage. Lactose Intolerance is actually the ‘correct’ default setting of the adult human being. No i don’t have a horse in this race, I am not lactose intolerant, and I love drinking milk, but equally, I know that it is an aberration.

Check out a map of where most people are Lactose Intolerant, and you will find out -why-. It was exposure to the invasion of the Mongols, who extensively used milk for everything including making booze out of. As a result most people in Europe and the USA (as a result of colonisation) are genetically cool with drinking milk. Those nations who never came into contact with the Mongols, like Latin America or Japan for example, have massively higher amounts of people who have Lactose Intolerance, because they were never exposed to that mutant gene.

So this whole “Soyboy” thing, doesn’t actually make -sense-. It is like taking the mickey out of someone for not being a genetic mutant…

‘Snowflake’ is even better. It is better because it is almost always used by these people who actually are very delicate and precious little souls, who have no understanding of what the term means.

The whole -Point- of the use of the word ‘Snowflake’ that people have picked up on from pop culture is that it is the deranged ramblings of a man so insane he has subsumed his own reality to have an imaginary friend who is ‘cooler’ than he is. That is what Fight Club is about. That is why Ed Norton’s Character is never actually named in the Film, but ‘Tyler Durden’ is. Thats why he thinks Tyler Durden gets it on with Helena Bonham Carter’s character, but it is actually himself.

He is -Insane- to a degree that they are not functional.

So for a start, taking anything from that film as an inspirational or insulting phrase, is the most stupid thing ever.

The whole point of the ‘Snowflake’ rant, is ‘Tyler Durden’ trying to subjugate all his listeners into believing that they are worthless little drones, with no purpose, no reason to exist, of no value to anyone, and that life is futile.

OK, So that is the message he is sending. He prefaces that by saying “You are not a Special Snowflake”

Don’t some of these clowns -get it!- The snowflakes are the -cool- people who are unique, have purpose and value, and aren’t drones!

That is the whole damned point of that rant!

Oh, and as a third freebie.

Don’t grow a thicker skin. Lack of sensitivity to injury can lead to increased risks of gangrene and potentially leprosy.

Keep your skin as it is, like it is meant to be…

The post is complete drama. This is WoW. Each day each player getting insulted / roasted or atleast tried to be. Avoid crying in forums. And Blizz Buff Rogue in PvE. Last ones are not enough.

Yeah, well you wouldn’t be the first, certainly not the last to do this…

While I can understand your reaction and certainly do not blame you for it, I personally would tend to react a bit differently.
Dungeons are 5men and leaving because of 1 impacts the other 3 who may have hard times finding m+ groups.

I would report + ignore him for sure, then see if he gets in line and we can finish the dungeon or at least apologize to the others 3 before I leave if that’s the only possible outcome.

This is why I am afraid to try tanking or healing because of the abuse new tanks and healers get. I wanna play prot pally so badly but I just fear tanking for unkind people and people who expect those to know the fights. I tried healing back in Legion and as I was level 10 a person kept on asking if they could get a “new healer” even though I had 1 healing spell and it was a level 10 dungeon. I ended up doing what you just did and left. I haven’t healed since.

I’ve started lvling my prot pal last week and even though I haven’t seen any abuse yet, the amount of DPS who intentionally pull packs or complain because it’s not going fast enough EVEN THOUGH you said from the start that you were learning the class + tanking is too damn high.

On a side note, I’m having a blast with my prot pal. If you can find some IG friends or a guild to play with to learn in a chill environment you’ll have a lot of fun.

I’m pretty sure most tanks have stopped queueing alltogether because most of us can easily get a premade going so hats off that you’re still even trying

It’s more of a CBA, I’ll find a new group in a second, have fun with your own negativity
Unless you think that all tanks who refuse to pug are somesort of social recluses who jump at the sight of their own shadow

You’re the one who suggested it. Who am I to say no when you offer me or any other tank such an honor.

It very well could be. I mean it’s whatever show a party of 5 people will make it to be really.

Honestly, I’m not sure what to even tell you. You can think of anyone anyway you want for leaving, but the fact is, if you can’t deal with it, you should play with reliable people. Has nothing to do with thick skin or friendship really. Just the nature of the beast. Nothing personal.

I agree with you.

Especially when a class has a misdriect and they start talking or CC like… Help the tank. Same with healers people forget to watch and help them

As a main healer, I will follow you and also leave and be in a new instance pretty fast  However, I will also do this to tanks that pull the entire dungeon then cry. BYE FWEND.

Don’t rly blame u, but as a healer I’ve had tons of tanks not respecting my man’s nor hp levels of the party just keep pulling while I’m on 5% Mana and everybody sub 50% hp.
Wipe then ragequit.

It goes both ways imo

Isn’t all this ‘soyboy’ thing about soy causing estrogen levels elevation in males leading to femininity though? Not about lactose tolerance.

Aye i’ve encountered a bit of this when levelling as well.

This isn’t the end of BFA where we all have faceroll gear. We have the drink nerf and we have dungeons that hit hard, if you jump into a big bad pack (like the top of the stairs before 3rd boss if you’re not skipping in spires) and the group isn’t full and my mana is 5% I’m not sure what people expect to happen as such packs will typically require quite a bit of mana/cds due to how heavy they are.

I’ve also noticed on more than one occasion situations where a tank will just fail to pick a mob that is wailing on me the entire pack (and I know they’re a tauntable mob as i’ve tanked these dungeons myself) and it’s generally down to the dps to bail me out so i stop having to waste tons of mana healing myself at the same time as the group.

This said I let the tank know without insulting them, but rather a curt “can you keep your eyes open for the chat and for aggro on me please”. It’s not always a case of being being able to drag the mob into the aoe for aggro if it’s a caster or ranged mob and i can’t interrupt them to move them into the aoe either.

First off, you kids are to sensitive and everything offend you.
Second, you left m+ and you deserve to be blacklisted as well as this guy

And then people ask why community managers don’t show up more often in discussions. This is why. “Blizz” is not one person, you might want to understand that.

On topic, you did the right thing. That’s what every tank should do until people learn that they are players as well and not verbal target dummies.

I have been healing some pugs today…geez…in the first one a dps got kicked because he accidently pulled a mob and the tank was this "rush rush person. Second one tank left because he thought it was going too slow and the dps was too low…3rd one we all wiped because I was oom taking a break and the tank rushed ahead anyhow and then left after he died…4th one ppl kept trying to kick a dps for accidently taking the wrong way in the Ardenwael maze…

Nope not for me. People are so impatient these days

Its been said many times before and will after this, find a guild/community to practice tanking with and you’ll likely avoid this drama, not fully but enough times.

Ethnicity.
Soy may be broken down and used by the body differently in different ethnic groups, which is why individuals from some countries who eat a lot of soy appear to benefit from the food

Basically, soy is racist.
