Aside from Rogue, what classes can excel at wPvP & 1vX scenarios?

I ganked so much on my Rogue in TBC/WotLK, and haven’t really played much at all since then. I understand that wPvP in Retail is a shell of it’s former glory (or non existant even…?)
It took me months to level up at the time because I love wPvP. I’d log in for the night to go a look for fights. I love the randomness of it, how it can be quick or blow up into a huge thing with multiple parties. Picking a fight and realising I’ve dropped myself right in it because the random I chose out skills me… or an entire night planned for leveling and suddenly I’ve been ganked by 3 dudes and the rest of the night goes into following them around for guerrilla payback.

I’m honestly not a scumbag and I don’t grief, it’s just what I love. I spent months, a huge number of hours gametime, playing Dark Souls 2 & 3 literally just invading other players. I loved to play The Division purely because the Dark Zone existed. I love that you don’t know what’s going to happen or when with that sort of PvP.

I want to level up in Classic and gank my way through every zone, probably spend a few weeks in each zone from just picking fights everywhere I can and getting corpse camped so much. I played Rogue to death back in the day and know the huge benefit of stealth, but I want something different. I don’t want to hide, I just want to take what’s coming to me and dish plenty back out!

I have very little interest in end game and will probably move on to something else in time, but I suspect whatever class I go with will have a place there if I ever make it and change my mind.

I really appreciate any advice you have, or will receive any insults you want to throw at me.

I’m not sure Mage tickles my ganking fancy, so I’m looking at probably SPriest, Warlock, or even Hunter? Almost 100% likely to roll Horde aswell.
Which class is the one for the job?

Hunter is good up until you start fighting people who know how to play, they’re better in BGs and group fights though, they’re a noob stomping class basically but certainly not bad.

Shadow Priests are absolute monsters in 1v1 and if you go down that route Undead is the way to go because Devouring Plague and Touch of Weakness are great spells. The only downside is that in BGs and group fights you will be focused by people who know how dangerous you can be.

I’m not familiar with Vanilla Warlocks so I can’t help you there.

If you wanted to be really out there then give an Enhancement Shaman a try, they’re very RNG dependent but if you get a good WF+Storm Strike roll you can two-shot clothies and take massive chunks out of everyone else, you also bring massive amounts of utility to group fights. The other downside is mana, unless you spec more into Elemental you will run out of mana extremely fast.

arms warriors with pre-raid bis are wrecking balls for sure

Thanks, how are they for PvP as you level up? I heard warriors struggle with… well everything, really… levelling, getting kited etc until end game, which isn’t my goal

Warriors suffer in a one-versus-many scenario. I do not recommend it for the sort of playstyle that you request. Outside of rogues, I think you’re looking at casters for that sort of thing.

That’s what I’m talking about! Honestly think it could be down to Spriest or a warlock, surprisingly I said Warlock because I thought jut they were bad, but apparently I’m very wrong. I looked into the CDL tournament a little and a lot of the good priests went Troll instead of Forsaken, which seemed odd. Anyone know why?

I have a 22 enh shaman about to go into contested territory and could be fun, but I think ele/resto for pvp and some good burst I’d prefer and can’t bring that into fruition until level 40+.

What do you guys think between a priest, warlock and maybe, maybe an ele/resto shaman? Again, mainly to gank and wPvP as I level!

Well… shadowguard is a lot better than devouring plague. That’s why.

Warlock is very strong, especially on horde (no undead to deal with).

Personally I didn’t have that many issues leveling up as people say warriors have. It is true you cannot kill more than two mobs at a time, but with first aid you have little to no downtime. only true class that can kite warriors are mages, the rest gets owned quickly.
