Very well, I will ask Koralash: have you roleplayed any of your many characters recently, and if yes, which one?
Sadly, the time is up! Time to give some other (lucky) poster a chance to fire their question(s) at someone they maybe never had the opportunity to.
Iâll slide in at the opportunity to ask @Tenasa some questions. How has DK RP been post Shadow Lands? And what would be some advancement in lore youâd like to see to further facilitate the DK scene?
Our roleplay has been rather solid, all things considered. We have adapted things from the Shadowlandâs lore (For better or worse) and focused our attention back to Azeroth. With the Scourge being mindless, we focus around the idea that powerful warlords of the undead now try to gain control over various groups for their own gains.
So with that, it allows us to mix and match different enemies without it being stale. Right now, we are chasing a group of Sanâlayn we have called âThe Blood Crownâ, which consist of a lot of Sanâlayn âghoulsâ (Feral, blood hungry elves who are effectively mindless blood suckers), Nobles (Who keep control of the ghouls), Blood Mages (The ones who resurrect the ghouls) and an unknown Blood Regent, who leads them.
We mix it up with Liches, Wyrms, Abominations, and sometimes, outside factors. As well as chase down other threats that are deserving of our attention, such as users of necromancy, those who meddle with the Old Godâs blood, and other threats that disrupt the balance of Azeroth.
As for advancements in lore, I would love to see something else that can drive us to fight beyond just the Scourge. I personally believe that most factions should at least have the drive to fight off two different major threats if the story can allow it, to give more interactions outside of âone enemyâ types.
For example, if the Light turns out to be a nasty oppressive force later on, it would be nice to see the Ebon Blade stepping up as a counter to the zealots. After all, removing zealots is one thing, but if they can ressurect their dead, then you need a means to remove those bodies, and as an added bonus, turn them against the zealots.
This can apply to other factions as well, but only within reason. No need to spread everyone everywhere. Just where it fits the narrative best, and shows that other factions are still showing that they are active. For example, The Earthen Ring being rather inactive, save for a few individuals, during Dragonflight was rather odd, given the elemental abuse that the Primalists were unleashing. Youâd think theyâd be rallying their forces to help against them.
My question will go to @Syelia.
What are the plans for the Kirin Tor now that the city is gone and the group is now focusing on studying more and interfering less in the world?
The post-Fall questline was certainly something. However, besides deciding that it would be great to have characters react to a city being destroyed with almost universal defeatism (bless you, that one Covenant gigachad who was flabbergasted why they arenât just fighting nerubians instead), placing Alliance and Horde characters at the head of a mostly neutral organization and turning some of the most powerful mages on Azeroth into mage trainers (await the letter from your assigned Kirin Tor representative to take over your local trainerâs duties), Blizzard also gave us a great leeway with hitting Kirin Tor with the âno more city, no more councilsâ.
If Jaina, Aethas and others are merely figureheads helping KT rebuild and there is no real structure anymore, what is stopping a group within the organization saying âNah, weâd actually rather continue fighting the Voidâ (which, btw, Iâm sure all those âdecentralized scholarsâ from Avengers team such as Jaina are going to do anyway)? That was basically the mindset the officers in our guild took and our storylines have been centered around the rammifications of the Fall, such as:
Where do we set up our base?
We need allies to help us because we no longer have a big city and its resources to fall back to.
What the hell is Harbinger doing after she rage-quit in Hallowfall?
How does the world react to the Fall and arrival of other Kirin Tor mages into their cities?
That last one has been the basis for a great storyline (I can say that, Iâm neither officer nor DM for this one) about strangely well-organized set of attacks on KT mages by mobs around Stormwind with suspicious strength (yes, Jimbo the Farmer might be angry at the mages that poisoned his sheep, but how the hell could he and his friends kill two powerful ones at the same time?). The story takes a lot of inspiration from the pre-Warcraft 3 times and lore when mages were hated by a lot of people and had only one truly safe havenâŠexcept that haven is now gone.
In terms of further future, that depends on what Blizzard does. If Kâaresh ends up being a âheroes go there Avengers style, sucks to be youâ, then we all will naturally do things differently than if entire armies go there. But, either way, there is QuelâThalas to look forward to, which Iâm especially excited for (and dreading at the same time) as Syelia is member of the Covenant and the whole elven dynamic is going to be shaken, we just donât know how exactly.
For my question, keeping in line with the neutral organization thing, @Vitsaus : How is Argent RP nowadays? How many people were blinded with the radiance of your bald head in the recent times?
(Also, while I canât speak for others, I wasnât notified of being tagged, might have been the same for them too. If thatâs the case, we might need a better way to reach the ones being asked. Unless thatâs not how the forums work, I admit at not being the most forum literate person)
No, the forums justâŠwork poorly sadly.
omg syelia hi (˶ᔠᔠá”˶)
How Argent RP is doing is a broad question so maybe I will or will not capture the essence of it, and I couldnât really answer for how it is on the server as a whole, but for my own gang.
We are alive and well, during the Christmas/New Year break I came up with a Scourge plot which has kept me excited as a DM and the guild seems to be quite engaged with it. It felt both on theme and relevant despite the absence of Scourge/Argent Crusade related updates in recent content. Recently we hosted a small tournament with some experimental trials inspired by Monty Pythonâs Holy Grail/Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade/Argent Tournament dailies, which were well received and Iâm tempted to do it again, but bigger. There are more frogs to kiss and more holy cups to choose (poorly) from.
Weâve also gotten better as a whole at finding the odd locations where there seems to be other players engaging in RP, which is a big plus, though there is still an odd level of Argent Crusade hostility in places.
Beside that, the expansion release provided some cool nerubian stuff and Hallowfall to engage with, which was great for the Argent vibe (it is just a pity that the Ansurek stuff was wrapped up so fast and that everything that happens in the Priory kind of goes unexplored).
Now weâre just carrying along, there is a growing sense of a âwandering knightsâ theme which is quite a change from our origins as âscrawny ragtag crewâ.
And now I guess Iâm supposed to pass the question along so uhhhhhhh
@Kaitylinn, what is the story, how did you get into hosting crazy adventures for just about anyone and everyone on the server, and also who is on third?
Officer Iâve never heard of that woman, but if I had, I assure you - she knows, and sheâs sorry.
âŠ
Although, pretending for a moment that I was Kaitylinn (donât look at which character Iâm posting on, it wont prove a thing, and Iâll still deny it in court) -
hosting crazy adventures
Aha! Well, I still remember the first day I logged into WOW as a smooth-brained teenager back in 2004 (yes, Iâm that old) - almost immediately succumbing to that thin line between a lust for adventure and plain stupidity, I followed that winding path straight out of Deathknell and perished within minutes to an immensely powerful local mob (Tirisfal bat).
Undettered, I tried again - wondering what on earth all those exclamation marks above several NPC heads were all about (nothing useful, surely), and to the surprise of nobody, perished once more.
Eventually my level 1 backside got deep enough into Tirisfal that, upon dying for the umpteenth time, my ghost appeared in what just so happened to be the nearest graveyard -that being Brill. Just in time to see the zeppelin to Orgrimmar flying right above my head.
My young eyes widened like dinner plates; that goblin airship was surely the coolest thing my x-teen old self had ever seen (I had very limited horizons at the time), and I instantly fell in love with the wackier side of the Warcraft lore. Airships; ray guns; robots; goggles; zombies - imagine my childish glee when I realised you could in fact put the zombie in the goggles, and have her ride the robot! Naturally, I scoured the primitive wastes of the early 2000âs internet for HOURS trying to discover the secret of how to unlock one of those gnome-only robot chicken mounts on a forsaken character, and to this day, Iâm still searching.
Flash forward to Warlords of Draenor, returning from a prolonged absence from the game (I owe passing my degree to my mother refusing to fund my subscription anymore after I turned 18), my somehow even smoother brained self blew the dust off my begoggled forsaken engineer, and discover to my absolute delight -
The literal canon plot of the game involved going back in time, to stop an orcish Genghis Khan starting the industrial revolution, in space. Ending with a different, greener orcish supervillain launching a fel-powered industrial revolution of his very own. In space.
Yes, I realised. The lore of this game is truly wonderful.
And thatâs the sort of spirit Iâve tried to capture in my events ever since! I know the âweird and wonderfulâ side of WOW isnât for everyone - if you prefer your Elywnn forest footman going toe to toe with gnolls with naught but hardened steel on side, thatâs marvellous - but for me, it was all about the ironclad battleships, felsteel annihilators and the mechanical mount with a machine gun for a face. I appreciate you canât just whip that stuff out in the middle of a major RP hub without raising some eyebrows; but it always felt such a shame to me all that stuff was out there in the world, being critically underused in any kind of RP!
So I made it my mission; find that all that weird tech on the outskirts of the universe, and make some use of it! With a bit of elaboration, it was a short step from âoh wow, thatâs literally a star destroyer hovering over the broken shore!â to âand what if other badguys built their own too?!â, and thus, Kait events as we know and (love?) them today were born!
for just about anyone and everyone on the server,
Aha! Now that comes from several places - first among them is a crippling lack of social awareness (those people over there, in Orgrimmar, sitting quietly by the tree? They -MUST- seek adventure!). The second is a gung ho sense of âthe more the merrier, right?!â, and the third -!
Okay, remember when I said that, upon returning to WOW during the WoD expansion, my young 20-something year old brain was somehow even smoother than it had been during my teen years?
I meant that quite literally; my roleplay at 14 was cringe, for sure. My roleplay in my mid 20s wasâŠsimply dire. So; upon realising just HOW bad it had been, I tried to turn it around and go on something of a redemption arc - doing what I hoped would be a bit of good for the server, instead of simply spreading cringe! And the only way I knew how to do that; events! Events by the bucket load! Please come, Iâve turned it around, Iâm good now, I swear!
âŠI swear. Guys. Please. Come on. Look I can change okay. Guys?
also who is on third?
Youâll have to beat that information out of me.
WITH ALL THAT SAID:
I ch-ch-choose!
@Casious, was it?! Formerly of Shadow Runners fame?! Now I think in the Crystal path?! Iâm in your discord, I think you forgot?!
But still; how are you doing! Howâs the alliance guild - still on adventures of your very own?!
Time is up! Try asking another poster and if not, you can forfeit your turn so the next lucky contestant grabs it. :>
Ah! I darenât ask anyone else (I donât know anyone on AD whoâd be willingly associated with my anymore)-
I yield, and forfeit my position!
Yoink.
@Gruggosh I have seen the A3 doing campaigns and storylines and liked the video you guys made about the Stranglethorn one. Is there a way for individuals to partake in them without joining the community or a guild thatâs part of it? Can individuals actually join A3 without a guild membership?
If both of these are possible, what are the requirements and how should people begin with applying?
Mok-rah. Those campaigns and storylines are generally written and hosted by me, and truthfully, everyone is welcome to joinâitâs never a problem. I donât usually announce them on the forums, though I might consider doing so in the future, or at least give a heads-up in my threads. There are no real requirements; I approach my campaigns with the idea that the world is open, and anyone could reasonably wander in. Nothing is gated. Obviously itâs a community of guilds, but we also have plenty of unguilded folksâusually people who have already taken part in our storylines in the past.
Since @Megnarosh gave me the heads-up for this post, I figure Iâll return the favor and put him on the spotâmaybe heâd like to share a little about a guild project heâs been working on for Summer!
Sure would love to! Canât wait to launch it fully in August and start roleplaying alot more again!
Basically the concept is magic loving blood elves that wants to claim magical knowledge for their people since sharing it with the likes of humans was clearly a mistake! In a true wc3/tbc fashion i donât want blood elves to be portrayed as good guys, but not openly evil either. As for what the guild would accept, only magical aligned blood elves since we use the heritage, no nightborne, no dks, for now i say no bkâs and no dhâs aswell, i feel both demon hunters and blood knights have their own astetic although that might change with midnight!
I already know whom i want to ask a question. Good olâ @Atahalni what roleplay have you been up to recently that you would love to share?
Hey Meg! Nice to hear you are still playing and have a guild project coming in too! Best of luck with it. Hopefully I get a chance to run into you and the others at some point in the future, main or alt alike.
My latest RP was during the Grizzly kills campaign, where I got to dust off some of Atahalniâs investigation skills during some rp-pvp and prisoner of war rp. Long story short, he found out some good intel on the Alliance that ended up affecting the end battle, allowing Horde to make an escape with most of the Lumber they had acquired before any reinforcements arrived.
Further, he also encountered an entity hidden amidst the Alliance in plain sight, much to the said entityâs disgruntlement- I donât know if him revealing their ruse to their comrades worked in the end or not, but I very much enjoyed it.
Me and Shogganosh also butted our heads together and were planning on starting a guild, but then Tagar announced the return of Bloodsong, so we put that idea in ice for the moment. Still, itâs somerhing that might happen in the future. Weâll see.
Currently, Atahalni is at his endgame crossroads. He needs to cure his crippled condition, or wither away. He has two avenues to do this, and depending on how things turn out with Bloodsong, he will either succeed or fail. More than that, his soul also hangs in the balance: Maybe thereâs a chance for redemption for him like how Vitsaus advised him back in the day, or will he douple down in darkness? Weâll see.
As for my question, I had a lot of people in mind, but I have chosen @Linma. How are the Ronin doing? What RP have you folks been partaking in lately? How do you find the RP currently on the server?
Since Linma didnât answer, I shall instead reach out to @Gora from the Chosen of Draenor.
How are you doing? What are the chosen of Draenor up to these days?
If there is no answer, I forfeit my turn to somebody else.
Lokâtar!
The Chosen of Draenor, as part of the larger Magâhar clan has been sent off to reinforce the clan and its struggles both in the Arathi Highlands as well as on the Isle of Dorn. Weâve also aided our allies in our communities in their events, campaigns and storylines that weâve all had an amazing time with! Thatâs in character, out of character weâre unfortunately in a bit of a hiatus given both my own personal situation with moving countries with my partner, but as well as an unfortunate activity slack that we couldnât get ourselves out of for months on end. We may return, in the future when weâre recollected and weâre ready to go - but for now, weâre out there in the world. Screaming our lungs out, being inconsiderate to any and all non-orcs we come across and having the best of times.
I have not a clue as to who I should ask, so uuuuhâŠ? Iâll leave the floor open I suppose? I love to hear any and all stories and tales of what anyone is up to these days!
Xoxo Gora
Letâs resuscitate this.
@Tenasa
Whatâs the absolute worst experience you had in RP while you were part of the PCU?
I wish to not answer that. Some things are best left in the past and I do not want to bring up old drama/bad experiences at this time.
@Aethian
What would you change/update in the old world to give it a revitalisation and make it exciting again?
Fantastic question I have a lot of strong feelings on.
Remove the wack penguin wallpaper from my Winterspring office. Please. I cant imagine my guy is doing paperwork while staring at goblin penguin wallpaper all day.
But honestly we RP in the old world a lot and while running around to set up campaigns I always find new corners and details I never seen before. Old world has its charm though I would love better ground textures
(Donât forget to ask someone else something!)
