it amazes me still to this day how he of all people became wow’s biggest streamer.
i guess he matched the format of a typical wow player best?

Likeable personality, bit of charisma, able to hold his own with actual valid opinions and to be fair, yeah quite relatable to the mid 20s/early 30s MMO player.
in terms of the wow community that is not surprising. if that is what they consider likeable personality and charisma :P.
fair play to the guy though, no disrespect to him. i can tell he is a lot smarter than his on camera persona lets off.
Haha, to be fair, he stretches across many communities, pretty sure he’s done polls before and half of his stream didn’t play WoW.
Yeah, I’ve got a lot of time for him, and hey, more attention for FF14 and more attention for the better parts of WoW (Tazavesh) and Blizzard getting a bit of a lesson… is all good.
i found him a mile more entertaining when he played darksouls over wow personally.
kind of glad he is moving away from wow … i hope it stays that way he will only get better for it.
Can’t wait for the furry asmongold memes And furry fanbase getting mad at his fans for making fun of furries
He won’t ever quit WoW. I’d say his moving and literally every WoW content creator being unhappy has made some heads roll at Blizz HQ.
Was listening to a clip that the YouTube allogrimth threw up of Preach every today and he kinda hit a few things I’d like to see on the head… bringing the world back into WoW.
i like preach less than asmongold personally… at least asmongold is somewhat entertaining at time. preach to me is just the typical min maxer elitist you get 1000 times in wow.
his opinions are also irrelevant to me as they are usually heavily biased towards the things he wants to be in the game rather than what would improve the game for everyone.
I’m glad he enjoys the game, I myself don’t like FFXIV not because it ‘‘rivals’’ Warcraft universe, but just because it’s not my type of game. I’m so used to the ‘‘cartoonish’’ WoW graphics, that every other MMORPG that is out there looks boring to me it’s maybe because i grew up with the game ( most likely). But yeah people should not compare the two games, because for me they differ even tho they’re the same genre. I’m really glad that there are more kind of games in that genre that are coming out. That’s more possibilities for me when i get burnt out of the game, even if i don’t play them I’m glad at least they exist.
You’re not wrong. As we’ve seen with all the Battle Royale type of games on Twitch, player naturally flock around and leave previous game at moment’s notice. Was crazy watching him play last night, where he single handedly beat the entire wow category + world first race streams in viewership. I might not find FF appealing but he himself has grown into a bigger and more valuable brand than the game he regularly played ever was.
The best part of the stream is him mis-pronouncing names!
Disclaimer, i dont like the guy really, but just to straight up things,
Who are you to say what the guy likes or doesn’t. You’re spitting on the guy in a 20 line essay but it seems to me that you actually know him quit well, probably because you’re watching his stream. And even if what i’am saying is an assumption, well you’re doing the exact same thing :
You’re selling people words as if they were true, but in the end it’s just some guy speaking about someone he doesn’t know personally. But hey, feel free to spit on him, i don’t really mind, just pointing out that in the end, you’ve never met him, never spoke to him, never done anything with him rly.
What i do believe tho, FF14 is actually a pretty cool game overall, might not be the case if the only thing you value in a mmo is the pvp, but the PVE aspect of the game is extremly well made. In the end, it’s not even about PVE or PVP, but just about what the game does for his player, and if you’ve played wow for a long time like i did ( from vanila to SL ), you could see that outside of the UI, nothing’s changed really, in fact in 17 years the game actually got way worse. Now, that’s quit the achievment if you ask me.
I see all those post about the dude switching for FF14 because of this or that, but all those reason aside, he might also play because he likes it, i recently came back to it and felt something i never felt on WoW in years, actual pleasure.
When i play this game now, i’am frustrated, the game pisses me off, and mostly i have this feeling of wasting my time. There’s so much BS going on, so much useless stuff, so much useless farming, it takes time, a LOT of time that you’ll have to literally waste juste because someone in the company thought that farming reputation everyday to get extra gem socket was cool, and they believed him.
Not only asmongold quit the game, a ton of player did before him, and he’s like everyone else, he heard about FF14 from someone, he tried it, and gave it “time” because the time he spent on WoW wasn’t valued at all, and please do note the “time” notion because it is very important :
We spend time to play game, when you play wow or FF14 you BUY game time, so that “time” we are talking about is the key factor. Over the years in wow it has become more and more tedious to reach the actual end content. Now, the amount of time you have to SPEND just to get to the fun part is unbelievable. For exemple if you play arena on season 2 of SL, and you try to make your reroll viable for that content, it will take you hours, weeks, month of FARMING, what noncense is that, i just want to play some fkin arena.
I think at some point, the people that sells us WoW totally forgot that it’s just a game, and i’am as much conviced of that as asmongold is, he felt his time on the game wasn’t valued anymore, for the right reason. Time is money, and i don’t want to spend time, nor money on a compagny or a game that makes my gaming experience into something that is miserable, frustrating, and in the end : a waste of my time.
They got greedy, the monthly subscription they had from me wasn’t enough anymore, they wanted more money, they focused on all the aspect that doesn’t make a game better just to get more money from people : Obvisouly the game got worse because of that and now many people are left wondering what is happening, well, it’s really obvious : when you don’t care about your player and their game experience, but only about money then it ends up like it did : with people leaving the game for good.
The sad part about all of this is, many of us stopped the game many times way before that, and then they came back at the next extension, thinking : Maybe it’s gonna be awesome like before, but every time it got worse. After 17 years, there is no point wasting time on a game thinking that it’s gonna be better at some point, thinking that “maybe” things are going to go the way it’s supposed to. Blizzard had to opportunity to change thing many time before, and they didn’t. They left us for 17 years with a game that kept trying to balance PVE and PVP, making both of those world miserable just because you can’t balance both of them while keeping them together.
They won’t make the good change for the game, they never did, because they don’t listen to their player. And again, that’s why people are leaving. FF14 understood that ages ago.
Was never something I stated.
The irony of your post being more than 20 lines and criticising -me- for my many words is staggeringly ironic… Besides, who is spitting on anyone here? I’m not getting a plane ticket all the way to America, just to hire a private investigator to locate the house of a streamer, so that I can spit on them, before jumping back on the plane and coming home, now am I?
Maybe it’s a language thing, but people do seem to use the phrase 'spit in the face of, and ‘spitting on’ rather a lot these days?
The irony being of course, that Asmongold did indeed encourage his drones to /spit on people in game. Obviously these are just pixels we’re talking about, but still, really, you can’t use the word ‘spitting on’ to defend someone who literally encouraged that behaviour!
This is where it gets even deeper into Ironic Territory. I don’t believe I was selling anyone any words here. Anyone who read what I typed already has a Sub, so paid for that. The funny thing is, That is what Streamers do, They sell people their own opinions back to them and make money from it! They make money from it!
There is an almost deeper irony in that aside from the forums I actually do sell my words to people. I’m a Voice Actor. It’s my job.
Err…He didn’t. I mean he said that himself. He was giving FF a try. He specifically stated he was not quitting WoW, so I am not sure where you are trying to go with that.
OK, You’ve basically just described any non state owned business to me, in terms of their practices. Where were you trying to go with that?
