Hello. I have been playing wotlk for nearly 15 years on retail, Arena-tournament, warmane and here again on classic. From what I understood when classic was announced and released a few years ago was that blizzard wanted to emulate the experience as close to the orginal as possible…however there are still issues/bugs that are making the experience, in my eyes, not as enjoyable as 3.3.5 was and is seemingly being ingored. These are game changing mechanics that require immediate attention. There is a community of wotlk players that refuse to play this game because the scripting of the classic core is so poor compared to AT and warmane. And to be frankly honest i agree with them. These are a few of the issues from my perspective that really need to be addressed and ive highlighted them in importance:
Spell casting globals reset the weapon swing timer but not vice versa.
for example using a spell triggers a reset on the melee swing timer however if you were to melee swing first you can use a spell immediately after.
Doesnt that sound rediculous? Here’s a scenario which highlights its importance. For example, you can melee a tremor totem then fear instantly after. However, if you fear first you must then wait ~2secs to melee the tremor totem.
On 3.3.5 servers spell gcds do not trigger melee swing timer resets.
Mind Control aura can be dispelled even though the target is classed as an enemy
For example vs a rogue priest in arena. An MC against the rogue can be dispelled by the partner priest even though the rogue is classed as an enemy to his partner priest. On 3.3.5 any dispels would be removing helpful buffs and would not remove the MC aura. The only way the MC aura could be dispelled is by offensively dispelling the priest channelling the MC. This difference has a big impact on the dynamics of the game as it now means paladins can also cleanse an MCed target.

Macro command sequencing does not work with Mind Control.
say for example you are channelling an MC and you want to fear out of MC you could use the following macro:
/cancelaura Mind Control
/cast Psychic Scream
Unfortunately however it does not work on the classic core…
Even though the sequence of the macro is correct, and is working on all 3.3.5 servers, there is a short delay in the MC target being registered as an enemy target on classic so the fear is triggered before the “friendly” MC becomes an enemy. Its easy to dismiss this with “why dont you just cancel the aura manually and then fear?”
Again this is how it always has been but the beauty of this macro is that it is so quick and immediate that the follow up fear cannot be countered with fearward or deterance etc.
Death animation delay with totems
there is a huge delay in totems disappearing from an instance when killed. Yes the totems do not pulse once killed but it is very off-putting to not see it disappear instantly because you might not be sure its been killed especially in the heat of arena. For example you might be holding onto your fear longer than necessary because you believe a tremor totem hasnt been killed yet.
Weapon swap triggers a gcd, however weapon swap while already on gcd is instant and does not trigger an additional gcd
Whats the point in forcing a gcd to weapon swap when you can weapon swap while on gcd for free? Doesnt this just scream of poor scripting?
From my experience main hand weapons have always required a gcd to swap and cannot be allowed to swap while on gcd; while offhands can be swapped instantly and do not require a gcd to swap.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post and one hopes maybe one day these issues will be fixed. Who am i kidding though really, why do we waste our time to write posts like this, blizzard doesn’t read these, do they? If they do a blue post acknowledgement would be greatly appreciated, and ill eat my own hat! If it doesnt, maybe it just proves to everyone reading this post that blizzard doesnt. Lets wait and see and let time decide.
I think some of these are intended, like the weapon swap/gcd/swing timer stuff. It’s similar to certain abilities not being able to used during a gcd, but don’t cause a gcd (draenei racial comes to mind). You kinda get used to it and everyone has to play under the same rules anyways
The mc “cancel + cast” type macros have not worked on blizzard servers in a very long time, potentially intended to allow for counterplay? Unsure about this
You have spent more time playing with the 3.3.5 private server mechanics so it’s understandable why you prefer them. In the same vein, I prefer the retail client and mechanics even if the game can be laggy in certain situations, since the classic client has properly working animations, 64bit client so it doesn’t crash when you try to load northrend 1/4 of the time (lol), actual spellqueueing, updated macro api, active addon support, etc
Don’t forget Wild Growth prioritizing pets over players when using on full hp. It took Blizz like 3 expansions to finally get rid of this bug, private servers dealt with it within months.
There are so many issues with wotlk classic that i won’t be even writing it here. Not only AT/Warmane almost every private server i have tried is superior to Wotlk classic. It really feels like we are still playing vanilla/tbc but just with 80 lvl and wotlk talents. Everything seems odd, damage, scaling, resilience, and famous hitting through pillars on arena i BET i just BET it is because we are still having TBC pillars that were octagons in the code and only visual changes to square so on edges you can still hit players…

People like this are the worst… There are clear and obvious issues with wotlk classic that no one is fixing and we are paying for this service. Blizzard having more bugs on wotlk than private servers should blow peoples minds yet there are ppl like you…

Yes, there are bugs, but you will achieve nothing coming here and advertising private servers. If you think someone from actiblizzard even reads this, nevermind reaches out and asks the cashmane admins “pretty please, can you share the solution with us?”, you are incredibly naïve.
Warmane can (if you want) played with new NPC models, textures, trees, objetcs etc. imported from retail. And the things is they are limited by the old API, so i can’t imagine the beautiful graphics if the game was based on Wotlk Classic.
So currently the old Wotlk is better than this Wotlk badly Reforged.
Weapon swaps do trigger a gcd when in combat, every time. Even when already in a gcd, they will restart the gcd. You can initiate a weapon swap while on gcd, and although I hadn’t played original wrath, this is the same way it worked on private servers that I played. The only way you can cheese this gcd is weapon swapping immediately after beginning a gcd - this way, your weapon swap immediately refreshes your gcd, and if you did it very clean, you don’t have a lot of extra downtime. This is the same way it works on warmane.
I agree with most of it. Warmane did get rid of AT core though and started using the one where you can auto-attack through pillars, while it’s Smourne meta though, which is pretty hard to defend.
I really think that most of you won’t agree but i have a take on this whole situation:
Wotlk Classic project should be shut down until the bugs, issues, and scripting is fixed then after everything is as it should be we should start over again. Right now so many things doesn’t work as intended that i just “don’t believe” in talents, skills, glyphs etc. I’m forced to skip things that are questionable in terms of working or not and just follow the meta. THIS IS INSANE
SHUT DOWN WOTLK, FIX IT AND THEN COME BACK WITH IT AGAIN OR AT LEAST SHUT IT DOWN NOW AND RELEASE ULDUAR WITH FIXED GAME. THERE ARE INSANE BUGS STILL PRESENT AND EVERYONE JUST INTENTIONALLY IGNORES THEM TO “HAVE FUN”, WE ARE ALSO THE PROBLEM

Another thing is the weird not sure what to csll iy but it prevents deadzoning warriors.
You can see what i mean by running out of a building and trying to cast flight form while still running, the game thinks you are still inside until your character comes to a full stop outside. Then you can use it.
Whatever that is called is incredibly disruptive to pvp.
