I’ve recently run into a new concept I never experienced in vanilla, or at least not this persistantly. On my server, we’ve got a guy constantly (using an add-on I assume) putting up 1 of every desired consumable or crafting item for 1 copper bid, 400g buyout. This means it’s always the first item to show, and he clearly hopes somebody missclicks and buys a 1gold item for 400g. He then of course cancels the auctions before they actually expire, and re-makes them all again. This has, and I kid you not, been going on for approx 2 weeks if not more. I’ve talked to Blizzard about it, and it’s apparantly not concidered scamming, though it clearly preys on trade by confusion; nobody in their right mind would pay 400g for an Elixir of Giants. Now, I do understand this is the original auction house from vanilla, but I doubt there were add-ons or tactics this predatory back then. And truth be told, if a player wanted to, he could fill up the entire first pages this way rather than just 1 item like this guy is doing.
Anywho, so far there’s not much to be done; the guy is clearly some level 1 alt so his main won’t get blacklisted, and there’s no way to hide his auctions.
Solution? Auction house ignore list. Either link it to your current ignore list, or make a new tab specifically for this. Any person you don’t wish to trade with, you can simply ignore and never see their offers again. Heck, you could even have an option of ignoring the sellers account and not simply just character, meaning he can’t just remake it every cycle. I’m open to ideas and discussions, just figured i’d highlight a problem.
I should’t have to get an addon to fix a problem caused by an addon that someone else is using as an annoyance to players. If the game was in development now they would add a AH ignore list to fix this.
You should get an addon for the horrible job blizzard did with the original UI.
If you like to spend longer as anyone else on the AH because you want to be sPeShUl by all means don’t get one. I’ll happily play the game when you’re still browsing.
But stop crying about things you can easily fix yourself in that case.
First I am not crying people like you need to stop using that as some sort of argument or observation it’s not working out for you. Second how i play the game is no concern of yours. Third the problem was created by an outside source and I should NOT have to fix it using and outside source. If you can’t understand that that’s a you problem not a me problem.
Oh but I have no problems at all.
You clearly do, since you don’t want the easy fix instead you moan on the forums.
Many problems in the game are fixed by community driven mods. Imagine Skyrim without mods noty.
I understand you very well, what you seem to not understand is that blizzard will never “fix” your “problem” as in all those years they never did in retail eighter.
Eighter you adapt or you stay snowflaek forever.
Now excuse me, I have a game to play.
I think bidding 1c would still frustrate the auctioning player into stopping if a significant number of players did it. They would have to re-list 100’s or 1000’s of auctions. And lose their deposit.
If they use a addon to do the listing, use an addon to do the bidding too.
Bidding would not affect them, the 1c gets returned to the buyer when the auction is cancelled. What should happen is once someone bids on an item the seller should not be able to cancel the auction. That will show these people.
Auction ignore would be a nice idea. I like the nostalgia feel of the original AH ui so am reluctant to use addons for it. Even though it’s terrible lol.
Anyone else bought a single thorium headed arrow for 1g? Maybe it was a magic arrow. Guaranteed crit?
