Ok you all need to stop complaining about the authenticator. You all asked to blizzard to do something about the LFG spamming well here is the result, if you don’t have a phone that isn’t compatible with BUY ONE not hard. Secondly if you activate it and you still cannot put something in title or some, Simply log off, log off bnet and restart then it works, you see this is your all doing does this stop boosting certainly not but that’s not why this is implemented in the first place. If you all know a solution to stop the boosting well send your cv to blizzard and ask them for a job. This is a nice approach from blizzard btw so all stop this nonsense and get one not hard tho.
I have been reading the various threads, some say boosters are back in lfg, others say it’s clean. I haven’t logged into retail myself to check, but I tend to think that the boosters will soon find a way to carry on, they always do
I am surprised that nobody is arguing as to why it is on the player to stop it, i.e. using an authenticator, rather than Blizzard themselves actively moderating.
I am sure you, like myself, have seen all the new initiatives they are putting money into to making Blizzard more inclusive, recruitment drives etc., why is none of that going back into game in the form of Customer Support?
They closed the Versailles office and if I am correct, I do not believe the staff were redeployed. I personally would just like to see some money being spent on the game that would benefit players, in more Customer Support roles, maybe then things that should be moderated, would be.
I think requiring auth+sms can be a bit annoying for some, an inconvenience at least.
The problem is Blizzard has already made restrictions to the Premade group finder TWICE to try to solve this problem of RMT and people advertising there that’s not supposed to by restricting levels and changing who can list for what which was detrimental to anyone under 50 that wanted to use the group finder in the first place.
The problem is, it does require an active phone line and quite a few pre-paid plans don’t really work for SMS verification so that alone will kick some customers from being able to use it like they could before without any recourse.
Then there’s people that don’t have an ‘active’ phone line and use other free options that this may or may not work with, which is another downside. Honestly there were some listings up for days at a time, making it clear that Blizz wasn’t actively enforcing their rules even when people would report…
Honestly gets tiring they instead will continue to push things through that either inconvenience people or make them unable to use it rather than take care of the problem with GMs using IP/Hardware bans for all accounts associated with advertising there.
I still had to report around 8, but we’ll see if it improves or worsens over time though if it’s like the previous times it’ll end up worsening again later on.
Well I personally only wanted something done about it in trade chat since I don’t use the custom LFG tool The new account-ignore helps a lot though. Seeing as I’ve used authenticator since forever, this change really is a non-issue for me either way.
So true, but this is zero expense for Blizzard not so for all of their customer base.
Again can’t argue with this, but what also = less profits is a dwindling customer base
I really do think that the trend or Blizzard ‘go to’ response is to put things on the customer, they previously have made a lot of cuts in Support Staff and I think it shows in the quality of support. Now I am not saying the current Support Staff are bad, I just think there are maybe too few to deal with such problems.
That lousy question that became meme was not hated because people didn’t actually have phones, but because people do NOT want to play their favorite games ON PHONES, especially those people that invested loads of time and $$$ to go to to BlizzCon to see the convention from their favorite games PC making developer.
So, really, it is kind of … sad … to see there are people that say it is actually a problem for them to have either an authentificator installed on their ios/android phone, or using bluestacks on windows pc, or maybe some other posibilities I don’t know.
I mean, come on, you get the Core Hound Pup pet, increased size for your primary backpack, and firstly the #1 thing on the list, the security of your account.
I might sound/be cynical, but if, in 2021, when even sites like those that distribute the “pirated” version of zygor, are using 2FA, you are struggling with Blizzard’s Authentificator, then you should … re-evaluate … “stuff*1”.
WELL SOME OF US, have enabled both shtty things and still cant post custom stuff in LFG, so the whole system is shtty and bugged. thats why people complain.
I can get that. Bugs, and things not working as intented is a different discussion from my earlier point.
We had loads expansions that were unplayable for the first 1-2-3 days after launch, so, yeah … if you have all set up, it will get fixed.
I’ve tested mine yesterday, and I’ve been able to post in LFG without doing anything special.
At the same time, you can post without writing. It is far from not being able to play. But I can feel your frustration.
" Developers’ note: A Group Finder that’s full of advertisements bothers us as much as it does you, but a challenge we’ve faced in trying to eliminate those ads is that they are often posted by compromised accounts or other throwaway accounts, such that penalties incurred by in-game reporting have not proven to be an effective deterrent. And regardless, relying on reports still means that some number of players have their experience disrupted by the spam before it gets reported. The Battle.net Authenticator is available for mobile devices and is a simple and convenient way to secure your World of Warcraft account, but if you prefer not to use it for whatever reason, you will still be able to post groups that will have descriptions auto-populated (e.g. based on raid name and difficulty selected in UI dropdowns, or derived from the Mythic Keystone currently in your bags). Our goal is to clean up the Group Finder while trying to minimize the inconvenience to ordinary players."
Honestly, I want to SCREAM by now at people who haven’t yet read the threads, so they still believe this is an option.
Edit: This subject is getting to me. I need to move away from it for a while. I’m a big believer in Hanlon’s Razor, but I don’t believe it applies to Blizzard in this case, and that’s hard to let go of.
Before this they did have us reporting boost spams in lfg, I remember reporting many when I last played and they would disappear from the list, but then I could log on another character and the boost remained. It was literally just hiding the boost!!! I have no proof, but I felt that it was not actively moderated, rather it was removed from sight for players who reported.
If Blizzard did not actively moderate it before, I see little reason for them to do so now, again they will rely on the authenticator doing the job.
I know we may not agree, but I really do think the Customer Support cuts show both in the game and on the forums. I really do think they made a mistake with these cuts and should be looking to reinstate more CS roles.
Yep, nova is still vomiting their service, then the mount farming guild etc… if you don’t pay for these runs you basically won’t play the game on the higher end which is still part of the content.
