Make this event warmode only. This needs to be fixed ASAP!
Agreed - if you don’t want to participate in the PvP part of the event, this should be an option.
While you could avoid the capital cities for a week, this really isn’t a practical option - especially since they removed portals from other locations so that you have to use the capital cities, Exile’s Reach ends at the capitals, and the capitals are where you enter and exit Chromie time.
I am sure a lot of people will enjoy this event and have a lot of fun, but for those who aren’t interested, they shouldn’t be auto-flagged into a mode they don’t want to play.

Neither does yours.
It lasts 1 week, and there is no relevant content other than it during said week.
Just take it easy and enjoy the ride.
Look at it this way. There are hundreds of thousands if not millions of people playing WoW who all hate PvP with a burning passion, yet you are the only person on the forums complaining about it.
People want this event. It reflects the story and it’s a bit of harmless fun. It’ll be over very soon.

I’m glad I looked in here before I logged in this morning. Steeled myself for combat…pets on defensive, check…pvp talents on action bar, check…pots at the ready, check. Clicked the quest portal and hovered over a trap…aaaaand nothing. No one around, pvp 5min flag on. Handed the quest in and that was that.
It’ll be interesting to see if it’s any different this evening and I know the realm is theoretically quiet (SWC/AD/Moonglade/Shatar etc). Maybe I was just up too early for the shenanigans.

What event? I don’t pvp and have no idea what the crying is about. The zombie event maybe?

The bigger issue I have with this is that it feels impossible to make zombies.
NPCs just randomly don’t get infected.

you pay for access to the game, as it is. World of Warcraft is an ever changing environment. It has a timeline, it has events and it is always evolving.
Our developers try to provide ample content where different groups of players can find something they enjoy doing. However, there are times when the events of the game don’t just impact a small corner of it, there are times when that impact is felt everywhere. This is one of them.
I understand your frustration and I’m sorry that you cannot do exactly what you want when you want to. If you were playing a standalone game, that is something you could reasonably expect to be a constant. This is an MMO, and events that take place in it, especially events of a coming expansion, are meant to be felt throughout it. .

Well, Blizzard is WRONG with that stand. Plain wrong.
And the solution is so simple. They already have it, since they TESTED THAT VERSION on the PTR.
