Not trying to argue with you here, but is it stated anywhere in any of the event info that the ghouls are limited to the capital cities only?
You keep saying that it’s an exploit that is allowing people to take the infection with them through portals and then turning. Do you have any blue post to confirm that this is not supposed to be the case?

Having played low level characters in both the Lich King pre release event and also this one, it means losing a week of being able to use cities as a hub. I’m having to do what I did last time and just set up base in one of the outlying locations until this event is over.
My character suffered cus I hadn’t logged for a couple of days and when I emerged in Undercity at Level 17 I had lost my portals which now are available only at Level 21 … even though the dumb stupid icon is still in my action bar. So I was like clicking the icon and trying to get out of the way of this ghoul/scourge player and suddenly all my screen went red. I then became a ghoul and was killed by the NPCs [ instantly ]. I res’d my body at the grave to avoid having to recover my body and then was instantly killed by a Level 50 player who thought a Level 17 was a challenge. Instant death … and so now what ? I just logged out.
If you are a level 17 Undercity is not a broken mess. And I can spawn direct inside. That is where I was… So the idiot that designed this thought that a lowly Level 17 player can not only survive a Level 50 player ghoul, but Level 50 NPCs and also Level 50 griefers… and also just to rub the salt in the wound remove all portals disabling movement just at the very same time… and finally FLAG PVP. WITHOUT CHOICE.
Talk about kicking a player when they are down. AND FOR WHAT. To give some self satisfying content to end game players as they wait for the new expansion. And so it was a finger in the eye to those wanting to level their chars. We lose a weeks sub cus THERE WAS AND IS NOTHING I COULD DO. Its called cannon fodder for bored Level 50s.
This is exactly what happened last time. And the developers couldn’t care less cus bad press is good press at this launch to stir up interest. I get it. I had only just renewed my sub and I swiftly cancelled it. Thanks a bunch. Have fun.
As i understand it Graytail thinks it should be in the event that portals cleanse the infection because that was tested on the PTR.
He has been advised repeatedly that that doesn’t mean its going to be live and can in fact be a way to contain the spread when it goes banana’s.
Graytail doesn’t respond to that because in his opinion whats tested should be live.
So you found a solution, that’s good, and event is soon over.
Ok, but beta and PTR are subject to change at any point prior to going live (last time I checked) so in such you cant really take anything there set in stone. Unless its specifically confirmed via blue post/dev tweet etc then it ain’t an exploit.

Correct … I had to find a solution. But it leaves a very bad taste in your throat if you are a ‘completionist’ and want to get to cap without dying. Just means I have to start over again. But hey… my bad I guess. Or not. There was no need for this to happen. It is just lazy design ‘cut and pasting’ old stuff instead of doing the job properly in the first place.
That was my first death, and man had I worked so hard avoiding this. But I could do absolutely nothing. The game is about choices. That was just pathetic.
Its about 1,5 hours to get from new to lvl 17… probably even shorter and with no real risk of dying once this event is over.

Using exploits is not solutions. The only blizzard aint gonna do a thing about it. Why shouhlld they waste theyr ‘resources’ that they have last week of an event to not fix things related to an event, but rather, ya know, fix stuff for SL launch.
If you want to talk about player control, yoou need to look at other games from the paste. Games like star wars galaxies. This game is liked because of the artstyle and mmo systems it delivers, not for one event in 10 years that one claims to be player control.
if this was the case we would of long had choices that my tauren druid should be considered neutral in this alliance horde war situation. Story lines allowed it. I was extremely annoyed why BFA didnt have a third faction that was just neutral, focusing on the common enemies instead of holocausts wow style.
