Backdoor in AV

So they aren’t breaking the rules, just the spirit of them.

They are technically breaking the rules because blizzards EULA and TOS is too general which is probably intentional because it allows them to punish whoever whenever as they want. I dont think anyone wants to punish them, it is just that many people here for some reason associate exploiting with cheating, which isnt really the case here. Read the quotes above to understand why it is an exploit.

I did read them, they just sound like someone whining against organised people. I don’t see any rules being broken or an exploit, and I don’t see what’s wrong with wanting to play with friends, and no, I don’t do it. If Blizzard wanted it to be against the rules it would be, but how would they stop it?

Then ask yourself, if blizzard doesnt have anything against premades in av then why doesnt AV have a join as grp button while AB and WSG has one?

EDIT: And yeah, i dont see anything wrong with people playing together either and specifically picking what people you take in based on class and gear. I have nothing against people organizing. The problem is that the horde can’t do it and in the long term when allies stop ranking, the horde will be completely blown the f out facing premades all the time that will grief them and farm them in the cave as much as they can. Meanwhile the horde cant even premade themselves so they cant even step up and git gud to prevent whatever is awaiting them.

Even going up against APES premade wasnt that bad, ofcourse we didnt win but we took up some of their time:p

Yeah AV premades are annoying but it’s not the end of the world.

Also, even if you take away the backdoor horde will find the gap and… fill it.

cheats; i.e. methods not expressly authorized by Blizzard, influencing and/or facilitating the gameplay, including exploits of any in-game bugs, and thereby granting you and/or any other user an advantage over other players not using such methods;

engaging in any activity that grants an unfair advantage is considered cheating.

This is related to the purpose of a matchmaking system, and the spirit of competing vs. opponents for “greater gains” from the match.
In a matchmaking system there’s something called a theoretical chance to win. This is far from 50/50 in the random matchmaking, and closer to equal in a rated system like arenas (or chess, which these systems are based on).

So the random matchmaking needs to be random because that is “fair” as in equal chance to get a favored chance to win in the matchmaking. Such as by setup or skill of players or being subjected to the same social circumstances, there are many things which affects it beneath the surface which is decided in the random matchmaking itself.

When only one side can bypass the nature of random matchmaking and go as a premade -

-it naturally makes the theoretical chance to win manipulated in your favor. In other words, it provides an advantage which your opponents can’t perform, which by its very definition makes it unfair, which is prohibited in Blizzard’s CoC.
(Keep in mind that unfair refers to equal opportunity, not unfair as in " :sob: multiple opponents ganked me while I was alone, in wpvp". Wpvp is designed to be chaotic in order to emulate a real “world”, while instanced PvP is not.)

Which is why they should just enable queuing as full premades with a Join as Raid option for AV as well.

There are social benefits to allow queuing as a full premade as well. It’d also isolate the ones only queuing to AFK inside AV.

If the Alliance can do it then why can’t the Horde? Surely they can do the same thing. I understand about Blizzard not helping people make a group but if you can do it in AB and WSG then why not AV? It’s probably just a #nochanges thing in the end.

The warsong gulch and arathi basin battle masters has a button that allows you to queue as a group/raid. This button does not exist when you speak with the AV battlemaster so you need to go out of your way to form a premade in AV because premades in AV was never intended. IN other words by the use of an exploit. Horde can’t use the same exploit because their matchmaking pool is too big because of a faction imbalance.

They should just allow people to queue as group so that both can premade, it is the only fair thing for both sides.

Because the inherent mechanisms of the matchmaking system only makes it possible when at least 1 of these 2 conditions are met:

  1. To have an instant queue, which drastically reduces the size of the people you can get matched up with at the same time thus increasing the chances to end up in the same one by quite a lot.
  2. To have a very small matchmaking pool, which even with long queues makes it possible to enter as a premade. The key is to reduce the huge pool you can get matched up with which enables it, which is not possible on the horde side.

How can anybody defend this premade issue? I would like to see premades being removed but also afk players have to be automatically kicked then. I’m tired of afk-reporting 10+ alliance players during an AV which does’t have any effect anyway.

An

Just saying

In other words, it’d naturally shift people’s queuing behavior to favor going as a premade, which would become the new social norm. It’d also isolate the ones misbehaving, which is needed. Not everyone deserves a trophy. They’re better off finding their own likeminded social group for such things.

It’d also enforce social bonding on a deeper level, which is part of what makes group content more enjoyable. Anonymity only serves to make it bland, forgettable and more “toxic” on average.

how did this tread ended up with premades issues and not the backdoor?

haha yeah gtfo
If you want that fixed, lets fix the Alliance pull Icetower NPC at drek and just pull drek afterwards, lets fix so when you pull drek you pull all NPC’s… Alliance already have it ez in AV

They’re interconnected.

iterium are you kidding me… horde have elite guards at graveyards… we dont… and u also have the backdoor… the AV right now is so easy for horde…

What you described is both the backdoor AND the premades.
Yes, remove both

blizzard should fix both alliance and horde side, we can pull protector and get her to 10% then she only pulls Vanndar, get her to get the others aswell…
With Drek, if you pull drek you pull all, simple solution

That’s the part I don’t understand, how is it an exploit? What ingame bug are they exploiting? All they are is organised.

I understand now why the Horde can’t do it, due to the queue and it does seem to be the horde complaining, those who said Ha, Ha, Ha when the horde had ganking squads roaming the world.

But you would still be playing against the same amount of players, no matter how they queued, they are just more organised. Which is were your argument holds some water, but only about a glass full.

Exploits aren’t limited to just bugs, it’s a broader term than that.

Read the long post up above and you’ll find the answer to your question. It even explains how it falls under the definition of exploitation, as in cheating, by Blizzard’s own definition of it, with references to source materials.

So what you should ask yourself is not whether it is an exploit or not (because it is), but rather why Blizzard has never taken action against it. It’s been a thing for years in retail, yet there’s been no recognition of it in all that time.
There’s not even any recognition of it being a thing now either.

So what does this say about Blizzard’s ability to police their own games?

I’d argue they don’t do it anymore, and leave it up to the Warden ( https://worldofwarcraft.fandom.com/et/wiki/Warden_(software) )
and their automated punishment system with the right-click reports.

The only policing activity I’ve seen from Blizzard in several years now, has been the banwaves which are limited to investigations via Warden to disable new bots, as well as the PvP ladders (of which they miss quite a lot of people each time, so the effort is pretty haphazard) and of course when people appeal their automated punishments by the right-click reports, which is the first time a human reviews your punishment.

It’s just… sad.
