Backstab is so bad

why is it so bad? If I dont have shadow dance and only back stab im hitting less than 1k, while ret pally autoattack is critting me 7k ??

nice illogical response. But I will answer that a ret paladin does whatever the fk he wants to do:

Because autoattack is a big part of Ret DPS. If you’ve seen crusader strike and non divine toll judgement values you’d understand.

My 205 Ret pala crusader strike tooltip (so pre reduction) is listed as 1.1k damage. Judgement is barely over 2k. TV is the only ability that hits somewhat hard and even then it’s just over 3k as a finisher.

Backstab is builder not finisher - compare it to Crusader Strike if you want to be fair (also take into account that Crusader Strike have CD).

And if you really want stronger combo builder - take Gloomblade.

No really dont take gloomblade, its such a bad choice.

We all have those spells that feel like they should be doing more damage. For me it’s lightning bolt.

So you invest you power budget into other tools (there is also a conduit that boosts Backstab/Gloomblade too) and then complain that the tool in which you invested nothing underperforms?

Because it underperforms compared to other classes?? hard to understand?

I see you’re using gloomblade on your newbie rogue. Really dont lmao.

You conparing different tools without context. If you compare dackstab you should compare it to some other spammable bbasic builder like DH Demon Bite (which also hits for 1000 or so).

I use build that suits the content I do at the moment I don’t need to pop up Shadow Dance to kill off couple trivial mobs it’s clear overkill - thus Gloomblade.

u dont use backstab at all to kill trivial mobs, so l2p issue. And calm your advice since you clearly dont know end game rogue game play and problems.
It is not by chance that there are currently 0 rogues in mythic raids.

Attacking person instead of argument considered a surrender of your own arguments - just so you know. Point proven.

Me telling you that playing gloomblade and using backstab on trivial mobs is inefficient is not attacking a person, but advice. You’re taking at as attacking because you think you know the spec

I see zero rogues. Not a single rogue.

That means they are doing it right.

yea those are alts, now look at top 100 dmg rank and tell me where u find first rogue.

not a single rogue

Took me only a few seconds

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/rankings/26#boss=2383

Rank 41 on Hungering Destroyer

There’s also several on Xy’mox… Are you going blind?

Top hundred means nothing in this context. There are thousands of rogues in mythic raids.

This whole thread is idiotic.

Really

Why don’t we cross the pond to m+ where on both over 15 and 20 keys

Rogues cover 17.7% of successful keys on RIO while Ret paladin is at 0.4%. You are the most played melee class in high m+ currently.

Do Ret Paladins need to be buffed due to lack of representation in m+. P.s Ret paladins aren’t rly used in the raid either… holy paladins generally are.

I can use a statistic on almost every class in the game which u could argue the class needs a buff based on in all honesty.

The fact of the matter is there’s alot more to the balancing and how things work then just reading into numbers or statistics.
