Youre an incredibly kind person Lebanisten. My friend is on a pve server, but I can ask her about it
It’s not apathy.
We have all gone through it.
You can’t police mean behaviour.
Just like in school and at work, there will be jerks, dealing with that is part of growing as a person.
We can’t create safety bubbles everywhere, because you would never mature.
I do not disagree with those points at all, I just do not condone such behaviour because you’ll never know how and whom it might affect.
On topic: When people act like that without any cause is actually the moment that I start annoying them.
I also start following them, tagging certain quest mobs and standing near them when there is a chest. Not saying anything just standing there not fighting.
Especially when there is a chest they get angry.
It’s really funny, to see these a-holes go mental over someone just standing next to them
There was a group running around Westfall killing the gnolls and trying to intimidate other players into leaving the mobs for them.
They ran up to me as I pulled two gnolls, surrounded me and jeered in chat. They clearly don’t know much about wow gameplay as, when I froze the gnolls in place and ran back (for ranged shot), they started chicken noises. I easily killed the two mobs and the bullies fell silent and moved on.
Put them on ignore.
Total idiots who will probably get bored of the game quite soon.
Aaaand todays weather forecast: special snoflakes falling of the WoW grid.
Somehow the internet is a safe place without bullied and there’s one in WoW. :))
Move on.
Wow, imagine being actually nice to people.

I play on the rp-pvp server and so far I am having an incredibly positive experience. I think the realm itself has a general cooperative and friendly attitude towards players.
If only this stretched through out the whole EU server.
I have to say that my experience so far was very positive. People were so kind and helpful. Plenty of people helped me with various things and so I repied thrm for their kindness. I also already encountered some amusing semi roleplay.
If you read through out my comments, you will see that I am and most of us are aware that people will be jerks.
But it is no excuse to act like an a** to people for no reason because you will never know how you may upset them. I dont care if you or somebody else cannot perceive the fact that some people are sensitive to hostility and they are doing their best to get more confident by trying a social game.
And with this knowledge should offer a little insight not to encourage this type of behaviour in the future so that our new or shy players can have a better experience.
The quickest way to disarm bullies and jerks is to not give them the attention they seek. They act like that to provoke a reaction and to trigger people.
She’s not gonna be able to change the behavior of nasty people, only thing she can change is her attitude towards them. So no, “we” don’t have to protect the vulnerable, she has to stand up for herself.
Show her some videos from gaming conventions, and she’ll see what kind of dungeondwelling necbeards they are, she might get her confidence back.
Oh, but you can. That is what report and ignore are for. And, if on a server with a good community, the rest of the community. If you fail to behave and are put on enough ignore lists, at least in Classic you can leave the server or reroll your character because you will no longer find groups which will take you. Though I must confess, this does not work on every sever.
There will always be a few bad seeds in an mmorpg no matter what server you’re on.
Tell her to right click their names and report them. She can also open up the ticket window and write a more detailed report for harassment that way. If there’s one thing i know they take seriously, it’s harassment, and those doing it will get a ban, and that ban might even be permanent, depending on the severity of the harassment.
Best thing you can do is to tell your friends that this is an isolated incident and not something to be expected on a PVE server.
While this behaviour is unacceptable, why you feel you must take this in heart and carry it on any further ? People are jerks, were jerks 2000 years ago, were in 2005 are now. We cannot act and feel offended every time someone tells us to f-off.
had that happend to me I would have trolled them until they put me on ignore, and most likely tagged the mob a few times to just annoy them or something similary silly, for it is act like an douche, and be ready to be trolled in to oblivion.
notable I never use swearwords when doing that, so they can not report me for profanity at all.
Unless you’ve been living under a tiny rock the past 15 years, there is a policy against harassment aka bullying. Even more so on PVE and RP servers.
People need to wake up. Just because you’re on the internet, you can still use common sense. No law says that you can’t use your brain and show some manners.
Harassing other people aka bullying others? You can’t sink any lower than that, and by displaying such behavior in a game, that really tells me everything i need to know about how you behave in real life.
