Bad Day at Blackrock Spire

Today I have run Upper Black Rock Spire 5.5 times as a rogue. I built the group 3 times. Here are some observations.

  1. You often have to pay tanks to join and it costs a lot.
  2. There are a lot of boosted players wearing junk who who do poor dps and want carrying.
  3. Even with a raid warning some hunters and warlocks still fail at dismissing their pets at the jump into rends room.
  4. When a tank gets shut behind the gate in rends room and dies you are one tank down until after the encounter is over unless you have a druid who can combat rez.
  5. Some people always want to fight on the bridge and will often be kicked off into lbrs (this was funny once now its just annoying).
  6. When the Shadowcraft chest drops the rogue doing less damage than the tank will always win (this has happened twice today).
  7. I wish the other players were AI controlled.
  8. I wish wish tbc was out I am losing the will to live.

Sorry you’re having a bad time! Maybe join a guild so you don’t need to PUG

I did look for a guild but they all seem to be about naxx in this phase. I am still trying to gather preraids items on my rogue.

Why do you want this preraid stuff? Just go ZG and grab gear.

Well I played a rogue back in vanilla and I tried to collect the t0 set but never completed it. It’s just a goal of mine. As some one who has failed to get into a raid guild, I have to make my own goals in the game. I know it might seem stupid to others.

I do remember seeing a tank or two that were advertising their services months ago but not lately. Personally I’d never pay, and I don’t dare imagine what attitude to expect from “professional tanks”. On the contrary, I often tank random groups just because I like doing it.

Bad groups are the best if the attitude is right.

Yep. Or they fall behind looting, or someone gets knocked into whelps just before that. That’s the beauty of random UBRS.

That’s super rare and you can ress going in with the group unless you have zero dps.

That’s the tank’s/leader’s fault.

Good for them.

A UBRS run where the tank is an NPC you have to escort would be hilarious.

Remember the bloodbath in TBC with PuGs when heroic keys were removed? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Yes, please!

Maybe dont inv them then? U can inspect people, so just kick them if u arent happy, its your group after all.

Maybe reserve an item then? Idk how it is bad thing that someone wins in random roll.

Population degraded a lot since launch. “Normal” leveling and progression was at launch and now you are quicker to get boosted and then start AQ20/ZG for starter gear.

One of reasons some people want FRESH so they can start on a way more sane and fun realm.

  1. You often have to pay tanks to join and it costs a lot.
  • The run Costs a tank alot in repairs not many items worth running the dungeon for tanks can sell services doesn’t mean you need buy them get a fresh 60 to tank for free or a friend or guildie
  1. There are a lot of boosted players wearing junk who who do poor dps and want carrying.
  • It’s a entry level dungeon what do you expect most people only do it to get attunement to bwl or ony or they need some pre raid don’t expect many geared players.
  1. Even with a raid warning some hunters and warlocks still fail at dismissing their pets at the jump into rends room.
  • This sucks but doesn’t happen often
  1. When a tank gets shut behind the gate in rends room and dies you are one tank down until after the encounter is over unless you have a druid who can combat rez.
  • Must be rare I’ve never seen this happen
  1. Some people always want to fight on the bridge and will often be kicked off into lbrs (this was funny once now its just annoying).
  • Just remind them of the knock back if the tank doesn’t know the dungeon before pull problem solved.
  1. When the Shadowcraft chest drops the rogue doing less damage than the tank will always win (this has happened twice today).
  • What makes you so special? it’s probably the only reason why that rogue joined your run in first place DPS shouldn’t mean loot if there bad they won’t get invited next time if there undergeared good they got an upgrade then huh.
  1. I wish the other players were AI controlled.
  • Maybe stick to single player games if you can’t handle people they are not your puppets
  1. I wish wish tbc was out I am losing the will to live.
  • Agreed the sooner the better

This infuriates me more than it probably should.

People joining lvl 50+ dungeons with their crappy level 20-40 green combos (while usually missing 4 gear slots worth of items). The least they could do is buy some damn greens from AH, if they have to gold to buy darn boosts.

Hope this never happens.

You had to start to our “Fresh” Dragonfang. Most people are only getting level 60 now. Everybody gearing up, no one has started to seriously raid yet.

Short answer: find a casual guild and run with them., long answer:

  1. make some tank friends or join a casual guild (tons on my server), we sometimes run the place for fun and giggles (i sometimes even log my main tank to do it just for laughs)
  2. it’s meant to be cleared by people in greens, honestly 1-3 decent geared players usually carry the UBRS groups i run in.
  3. hehe, yeah, that happens and sucks if combined with #2, otherwise it makes that dull arena at least semi fun and exciting :stuck_out_tongue:
  4. well, you only need 1 tank really for the dungeon except the last boss. laugh at the silly boy stuck behind the gate (not that i ever saw this happen but, well, some people are gifted)
  5. i always make sure the tanks pull either to the room before beast or tank at the drek room.
  6. wow loot rule #12, the player that contributed the least/worst geared always get the loot.
  7. then WoW isn’t for you.
  8. WoW, you think TBC will sort this out? there are SOOOO many ways other players can mess up your runs in TBC dungeons/raids

Yep, its an interesting dungeon. Very simple but there is ALWAYS something that goes wrong. Part of the charm in my opinion but i think that’s just me

Yeah, if you think what you encountered on these few UBRS runs was bad, weeeell…

  • The equivalent to UBRS in endgame content is Heroics.
  • They are ALOT harder, way easier to f_k up, and when your group disbands, you have a 24h id on them.
  • Rogues are one of the least-desired classes for doing them, as they have no buffs, unreliable CC, and are squishy melees in content that is ripe with cleaves, voidzones and similar goodies.
  • Most tanks will do heroics with their mates, and there is the aforementioned id, so finding tanks is even harder
  • Finding a tank is hard enough, finding a GOOD tank is even harder
  • You will also need to find a good healer, and 2 other reliable dps. Not every heroic is super hard, but as said before, it’s really easy to f_k them up, so you need five good people instead of just a good tank and everyone else kinda tags along for the ride as it is now in 5mans and UBRS.
  • “TIME FOR FUN!!!” … remember that sentence. When you hear in a heroic, know that there won’t be any fun. Whatsoever.
  • The one piece of loot you want will drop of the endboss, it will drop at 14% chance, and since dps druid/shaman and tankdruid are now respected specs, and hunters are played as much as Warlocks, you will have ALOT more competition for it.

Enjoy TBC

Thanks for advice I have already rerolled an orc hunter on dragonfang and got it to 60 for tbc. I know rogue is not wanted.
