Even if I put everyone who signed up on a waiting list I wouldn’t be able to play with them all. It’s crazy. We can’t take it personally if people don’t invite us.
If people don’t invite me it could simply be the case the healer doesn’t like healing bears, which is fine.
My messages up there, I don’t think it will be used for good and will create massive problems. I do not appreciate the add-on however threatening someone with death over an add-on where you can literally “opt-out” would be really a stupid idea.\
On the other hand, don’t feed the trolls and give them ideas.
From what I understand of how this system works basically what I need to do as a DPS is just focus on doing damage, ignore all mechanics and stand in the fire to get a few extra hits off on the boss. If I don’t do these things then the little stupid parse number will be lower and the RWF wanna be raid leader won’t invite me to the next normal raid and I will get declined.
If the score was based purely on execution then I would support it but the score or “parse” seems to be related to how much damage you do which just isn’t as important as doing mechanics in my opinion.
It’s annoying all the barriers that exist in WoW - I don’t really raid much because I find it really boring. I have done the normal raid but that is purely because of the renowned track. If it wasn’t for this I wouldn’t do it my focus is M+.
There are a number of barriers in this also for example I timed everything as a +9 could I get into a 10? no! what did I have to do? I had to go and +2 all of my 9’s before I could get into a 10. Did all the 10’s could I get into a 11? nope! I had to go and +2 all of the 10’s before I would get invited to 11’s. The same thing happened with my 11’s and now I have done 12’s.
The problem I have now is that I did all of the 12’s fairly close together and I tried getting into some 13’s last time but got declined from them all, why? well I think because I need to wait for raider io to update and for people to download the latest database so until that happens I can’t do any 13’s so maybe at the weekend I will get into a group.
I doubt I will get to a point of doing 14’s because I think by this stage in the PuGLifE world the only classes that should be doing those keys are the meta classes so basically that’s the end of the road for me sadly this season.
Why do forum people always think that everyone with high parses is not doing mechanics? That’s kinda delusional ngl… if there is a mechanic to play for a specific class, then most of the people will be doing it too, obviously.
That’s because of the community who think +12s this season are like +12s last season. That’s not the case. Yes, struggling with meta slaves feels harder this season. It is what it is. But it’s usually the less experienced players who don’t give you a chance, not the experienced ones. That’s the side effect of the difficulty squish and S2 being easier than S1. You have people in that range who do not belong there. All they can do is follow the meta.
I didn’t say that people with high parse scores didn’t do mechanics the point I made is that this system rewards those that don’t do the mechanics and as its a score based on damage then I am encouraged not to do mechanics but instead focus on damage, I wish forum people would actually read the post!
The problem with that way of thinking, is that people that will search for your parses will do either mythic or heroic, both of those modes will not “allow” you to ignore mechanics and just do dps, just because failing to do mechanics will lead to either a death or a wipe.
Same thing as m+. In lower keys there are players that ignore mechanics in order to do damage, but in higher keys, this is almost impossible, since everything is almost an one shot.
Also most people that check for parses, do not really care if you do a blue or purple or orange. What you want to check is to avoid the people that have 1 kill with 0-2 parses (a clear indication of boost).
In my experience people will try to invite people that have already experience in that “key range”. Your experience seems more that the key holder did not have many applicants and chose to take you instead of waiting. I rarely see any difference between having a key timed +1 or +2.
Actually I met a guy today in nhc raid who complained he is not getting invited to HC raids. Later it was clear why. I tried to help him after the boss kill but all he had to say that addons are garbage and for tryhards and he will never use it because WoW is easy anyway.
Ngl, this is the first time in my life I see a player performing that bad. Usually you pull at least like 20-30% parses if you are clueless but that’s some next level stuff. https://imgur.com/a7k9Iw0
Some names can be seen in the image, and I do not believe it is needed to get your point across , I think we all believe you.
Tbf it is those kind of people that everyone wants to avoid. Otherwise, I do not think the addon will be a problem. Just enough color variety to show that you actually know what is going on. Not many people will waste 2-3 hours in queue in order to get someone with orange logs.
Can just stay glued to the boss and ignore every “dps this down or move this to that” mechanics as much as possible. And hope somebody else does the mechanic.
Sure you cant ignore every mechanic but can have a lot more selective approach: Play as a team member vs focus on your parse and do only the most barebones mechanics.
I personally have many times sacrificed my dps on a raid to help out with a soak or cover for somebody else’s mistake but with the addon it will encourage the “Not my job. DPS matters more” mindset.
Sure, as long as you’re able to find multiple groups that can cover for your lack of mechanics well enough to kill the boss, whilst also keeping you alive throughout the entire encounter, and aren’t replacing you for ignoring mechanics.
I’d wager it’s going to be a lot more common that most people just do mechanics to ensure a fast and smooth kill, and accept that they parse like 5 points lower than they would if they were tunnelvisioning.
How come so many people are focusing on the extreme end of the way that it is possible to cheat this addons metrics, rather than the way it is likely this addon will measure you? For every one person that manages to cheat his/her way to a significantly better parse, there’s thousands of people getting an accurate parse. In a broad perspective, the addon does give an accurate measurement on your performance. In a vacuum, it doesn’t, but the addon won’t be used in a vacuum either.
It’s not like people are going to just invite players with 95+ parses either, it’s just that Johnny Awesome who parses a gret ~10 will be at the bottom of the food chain. He’ll play with others at his level instead, rather than getting carried by people who bothered learning their class by the time they’re on their fourth/fifth re-clear of the HC/Mythic raid.
Why should Johnny Awesome freely get to ruin others experience, but others shouldn’t be able to know that Johnny Awesome will be hindrance and a buzzkill?
You assume that the average pug leader does an in depth “research” to any applicant? All they see is the number. They see: “oh pretty rio number! Lets invite!”. While any party leader worth their salts will not invite based on rio number alone, they are not really the majority of pug leaders.
Parses will be no different. All will they see “oooh…pretty orange color, me like it!” and wont give 2 peanuts on “how you got that orange number”.
Remember, we are talking about your average “meta slaving” pug leader which forms the majority of pug leaders.
The experienced “looks into details more than just some parse color or rio number alone” leaders form the minority of the pug scene…
