It is NOT their right to show my score to anyone else when i’m not even using their add-on.
Even if my score is 2k, I don’t want others to see it.

You can log into there site and hide all your chars i know you shouldnt have to but its a choice you have .

there is a setting in your profile here on the site to turn off sharing your data with all third party developers.

The other 2 have already said what you can do to stop this, but neither should be something that players have to do in order to play the game without the information being given to addon creators in general.
Not for Raider IO but many have adopted a reliance for the addon based on what it does.

If you would bann it another one would take its place. Gearscore, raider io, whatever. Even without any addons you would ultimately end with a site that still does the stuff which then the raider io “fanatics” would use.
It just makes the account check easier. Thats all. Its not a reliance but more of a “very nice to have” thing.

Then those requesting R.IO won’t invite you because it’s blocked… 
Complaining about it is rather pointless, there’ll always be some metric used by players to ‘measure’ someone they don’t know… and that is their ‘right’ to invite who they want.

You can join my scoreless runs. The run costs 500k gold and nothing is guaranteed. Nothing, as in its not even sure a group will form up. Payment upfront. Player supplying the key gets a 50k discount.

If you think that this addon is the only thing that stays between my groups and specimens like you, then you are delusional. All it does is saving me 20 seconds i would have to spend looking you on armory/warcraftlogs.
And yeah - hidden score would just mean 0 score. Just like hidden profile always was.

While I don’t think it should be “banned”, because I understand some people like the concept and get use out of it, I do fully agree with the quoted sentiment. I should not be beholden to some completely unofficial third-party service.
You don’t need to use it, but you may experience longer times to find a group.

It’s absolutely their right because Blizzard allows it by default but as people said here you can disable it in your battle.net profile.

Thats fine, then disable your score and hide it through the rio website.
But please dont make a thread next week: i dont get invited into ANY m+ runs because i did hide my Rio score.

Yes it does, sort of. It won’t remove historically stored scores, but it will stop new ones being attached to your name from the point you turn it off.

Gearscore…item level…RIO…there is always something that becomes the latest craze for measuring player performance. It’s annoying and all-consuming but sadly has became such a core component of WoW.
For new players or those returning after a very long break, I can see it would be a very frustrating hurdle to overcome on top of learning / re-learning the game.
I try not to focus too much on it but sadly not many have that same mentality.

As with most systems, there is a minority that ‘abuse’ it so to speak with ridiculous requirements for example a +2 Freehold.
However which way you look at it, players generally want a quick smooth run, and this is the best tool we have right now.
Personally I’m neither for or against it, I never use it but its useful in higher keys
The best way to avoid being judged for your rio is to make your own parties. Some will still do it, but in general, if you dislike how OTHERS form parties, you have the responsibility to take initiative. Don’t apply to anyone’s key, just run your own.

Its totally needed, the gear is so inflated in a lot of noobs.
Just invited 3x 480 dps to my 15 KR, as my rio addon was expired and I thought ill just inv high ilvl people for this easy key.
Pulled 4x Animated Guardians (normal).
-They didnt know how to rotate around blue shjt got killed.
-Healer panicked and stoped casting spells after dps wiped and just told group to wipe
-DPS panicks and dont press any buttons just stand there. I am max dpsing as tank doing 80k dps, while second best dps is at 50k, and third best at 30k…
-I die as tank because no heals for 1min and im not 50% vers, but ilvl 470, still tanked plenty of higher keys like 18s.
-DPS keeps running in to get one shot
-Wipe 16x on first trash pull, healer leaves group.
