Battle.Net freezing - and freezing my PC (force restart)

Whenever I use the Battle.net app, it freezes within 10-15 seconds, and then the rest of my screen freezes, forcing me to restart… Other games/apps etc seem to be working fine.

I saw another thread in the “bug reports” getting many replies with similar issues since about 1 hour. But in that thread the guy said his game only crashes when using Battle.net AND wow at the same time, my battle net freezes even before I can start wow.

I tried to re-install app, tried another quick fix on the internet, and checked to make sure if my drivers were up to date.
Now since there are this many people who replied in the other thread that have the problem since about 1 hour ago… I figured I’d make a thread more specific for this problem

Temporary fix: Use the Twitch client (from their website) go to addons, add WoW and launch it trough there.

You can launch WoW from your retail folder. Add a desktop shortcut if you want.

Also try looking over here:

Try updating your nvidia driver from the website, worked for me

Had same issue

Just a “me too” post. I also found the post from Dec19 describing a similar issue and tried the remediation steps described. No change.

Actually kinda glad y’all are having the same issue. Means it’s not me.

Any other games i launch, works perfectly, but the battle. Net app freezing the whole PC.

For people who updating drivers didn’t work for them, try doing this

There are honestly too many threads about this, hard to get the info available.

Hi folks!

Please follow the steps in the main thread here:

Putting this out here!
Battle.net launcher causes freeze on the computer(nothing works), a manual restart is the only thing to do, doesn’t fix the problem.

Same problem for the US: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/battlenet-launcher-crashing-and-freezing-pc/443915/51

apperantly for some Nvidia users it works to update their drivers, for others it don’t.

I performed a Roll Back to my Nvidia Driver and now it looks like I am not facing the same behavior as before where my whole PC would’ve freeze.

Im using the Twitch client (from their website) to launch Wow without battle.net

Hi, when I log into my App there is some update ready. But every time my App and computer freezes.
Only option is restart whole computer.

same problem here, on 2 pc’s
games launch fine from there .exe, but when launching banttlenet app, the pc freezes and have to force reboot

It looks like there’s an issue with nvidia cards, try updating your driver. If it doesn’t help try doing what it says here:

Edit: Threads got merged so deleted duplicate posts, at least as much as I could. Decided to leave this one in as it’s marked as a solution.

Good evening!

Hoping to get some help with an issue that started of this very evening.
When battle.net launcher is started it freezes my entire computer, which is forcing me to reboot it.
Everything else works as normal, other games, streaming other programs all fine, just not battle.net.

Tried uninstalling Bnet and also removed all Blizzard games before installing bnet again, but to no avail, it simply freezes the computer after my initial log on window in bnet.

Hopefully you are able to help me with this issue.

Kind regards

Hey > Sadly i can’t fix but i have a temporary solution: Use the twitch client (from their site) go to the addons thing, and launch wow trough there. (without using battle.net)

Any chance you;re using an Nvidia videocard? (some guy said clearing his driver update fixed it)

Thank god other people have similar problems, been stressing over this for some hours now. I am using a Nvidia graphic card, and every time i try to start battlenet my pc freezes up and goes into a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION bluescreen, I am really hoping this is an issue with blizzard and not my precious ssd =(

Edit: Other programs I have saved on the same ssd are working properly.

Try updating your nvidia driver from the website, worked for me

Hei, everytime battle.net launcher opens, my computer freeze and eventually crash with the errorcode dpc_watchdog_violation, even tried reinstalling windows and it still happens.

Tried everything here https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/10483#:~:text=Restart%20the%20Blizzard%20Battle.net,to%20resolve%20any%20compatibility%20issues.&text=Uninstalling%20and%20reinstalling%20the%20Blizzard,to%20crash%20within%20Windows%2010.

Did not help.

Please help:D

That error normally relates to having wrong software installed/drivers for your ssd apprently, I googled it, Type the error into google there is lots of fixes for it apprently.

Got it fixed, had to download the newest ndivida drivers from nvidia.

Seems like a bunch other having the same problem. Even though it says that you have the newest drivers, just download the drivers from nvidia and it will fix it.

thought so too, thats why i tried reinstalling windows and updating every driver.

But it was the videocard driver. Updating nvidia driver worked.
