World of Warcraft is currently updating and the speed I am gettins is around 40kb/s, sometimes even less. Making it take days and days to update wow even for a small update. Is there some known problems going on now? I usually download these updates almost instantly. And my internet speed is currently very good, so no problems on my side. I checked the limitations but the download speed has not been limited in the bnet app.

Stuck at initializing for up to 2 hours by now for a 250 mb download, this must be a joke.

For me it says initializing not downloading.
219MB and i’m at 38MB now… going up in slowmotion like i’m on a 386 PC.

Pausing and restarting the update increases my speed to 700kb/s for a few seconds.
So I guess I can pause and restart repeatedly and have it done in just an hour of blood, sweat and tears. And rage.

SOLUTION: start the WoW.exe in the retail folder, worked for me, should’ve tried it earlier

Until they fix it i will join the game by his own application retail wow
So I tried that, and the wow.exe had the wrong symbol, gave me and error, and then just deleted itself. So now I don’t even have a wow.exe anymore. How lovely.

Yes we all got antivirus issues at the same time, no, it’s not that. It’s on Blizzards side. Unless they are running avast or norton on the server.

I had the same issue - starting the WoW.exe in the retail folder fixed the issue immediately and the game updated within seconds.
This game makes me feel like a kid again downloading on a bad dial-up connection I noticed however when i start the battlenet app it says i have a newer version so tried to download and install battlenet app and it’s now on 99% updating … crazy stuff.
