Haven’t logged in like 2 weeks. Now have some time off and wanted to play as well as do some updates to my addons. Been stuck at Initializing for hours. I even reinstalled whole Battle.net launcher and tried usual fixes, nothing worked. Guess gonna leave till morning.
Have the same issue. Cannot play the game because it takes 3 hours to download 150 MB. Something that should take 20 seconds normally.
I’m going to speak badly because between the problems with the AMD graphics and the download speed of the updates, you have me sick. Let’s see, for quite some time now downloads (especially hotfixes) have been going at the same speed as the internet did 30 years ago. WHY DON’T YOU FIX YOUR PROBLEM? WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT 6 HOURS TO DOWNLOAD 300 MEGAS? ALMOST EVERY DAY I HAVE TO BE DOWNLOADING HOTFIX AND YOU HAVE ME UP TO THE BALLS, PAY THE APE THAT MAKES THE INTERNET WORK, I WANT TO PLAY I PAY THIS DAMN VIDEO GAME FOR SOMETHING
I was thinking to buy 1 year subscription of this game. But before that I wanted to download the game first and guess what happened next 
? Download speeds are complete mess…! was downloading it with 50kb/s…I have 500mbit fiber connection. No issues any other game to download with this speed.
Before downloading it stuck at " Calculation Size "… and it cancels itself sometimes…Says " update " and clicking it but nothing works
and I decided not to play. Because this garbage company does not care about customers. Bye Blizzard…
Another week of atrociously slow download speeds, and still no response from Blizzard… WTF is going on?

I just posted in another thread.
Workaround which works for me.
- Go to your wow installation and start the Wow.exe manually.
- Close the game without logging in.
- Now you have some seconds to tab back to your battlenet launcher. The play button should be blue and you can start the game from battle net. If you take to long the download might start again, just repeat.

Unbelivable, I pay a lot for this game and every time I am waiting 20min-1 hour for an update… 100-300mb… what is going on in the Blizzard? Nonsense
Thanks, yeah, this seems a working solution. At the start, it was a whoopie 15Kbit/sec downloading speed. After this workaround, it almost instantly finished it.
This is getting frustrating now by the minutes.

This is a nightmare! 9kb, reached 4% after 30min
Its like that for months and they don’t fix it!
Ok, I finally found the problem: under settings the default dl speed of pre-content was set on 1kb/s, that’s what caused the whole issue!
Is this a new setting? Haven’t found it before, I changed it from 1 and 20 and set both to 0, that didn’t work, but when I put it to 100 000 then it worked.

I guess they changed something (or It’s a bug)
Shame I had to waste tens of hours on updates because of such a silly issue.
