No need any skill for being “Grand Marshal”. You even do not need to dismount and use any single skill. Just que for AV and run around with your mount. If you can do this all day you are “Grand Marshal” … g.z

Whoever started playing classic for vanilla is beyond retarded. Vanilla has its charm but PVP in vanilla is the absolute worst pvp in all kinds of iterations of wow. I havent played beyond wotlk but I can imagine pandaria being a much better expansion for PVP:
Nah the PvP in vanilla/classic is great because it is the most fun, with lots of unique quirks for each classes, crazy items, and so on
But it is also the most unbalanced and not competitive at all.
If we compare that to retail: no items, no unique abilities (every class has a way the same core) and every victory is defined by who had a better management of their offensive and defensive CDs (burst coordination and so on). Balanced, but boring.
To OP: it always was like that, why do you complain now? To get grand marshall you have to take the path of least resistance to make sure you have the best xp/hour. Back in vanilla it was done by forming a premade to stomp pickups and queue-dodge the other premades. The AV farm is at least less toxic imo.

Back in vanilla it at least required a slight bit of skill to win WSG or AB matches. The real vanilla AV was not a rushfest and so the honour gained was substantially smaller than it is today.
Please note I said a “slight” bit of skill because in theory you could just run around on your mount in every battleground whilst your group won the game for you and still get Grand Marshall

I knew from the start that vanilla pvp is worst pvp system/pvp stage of wow compared to any expansion. Get your rose-tintled goggles off who thought this system is awesome. In actual times i had no surprise most of rank 14 people were not above 1700 rating in arenas, there were some exceptions, but only some of them. I didn’t feel much difference if i killed private ranked character or high warlord in early TBC in 70 lvl BG’s or arenas.
Dunno how it is now, but when I got Grand Marshal besides at least medium gameplay skills you only needed to know enough well-equip PvE players and have some moderate leadership / team management skills to ensure your roster was always full enough to keep a full pre-made running.
Class balance and personal skill took a lower role because once you got enough reputation, most premades would just dodge and it’s fairly easy for even a semi-competent premade to crush PUGs in WSG.

I could name you several rank 14 players from my vanilla server that were legit hardstuck at 1300 rating after 1000 games in TBC
Stupidest whine on the forum for a long time, seriously! Of course if you play this game for longer, the more chances you have to become a Grand Marshal. And no, you cannot do it if you only play 3-4 hours a day at most. Isn’t it time for this game and forum to be clear of whiners already?
But man are they cocky. Riding around in their full gear with 5000 HKs per day. Then you mirror duel them in your blue crap and they get ripped.

Unbalanced factions fights wpvp is not about skill also, but nobody cares. Nobody Will care about your statement about AV too 
I mean, maybe I am? I just dont see myself going pve, its just too boring for me. And sadly there is no achievable pvp gear for me. I mean I am still riding a 60% mount.
But the point of my post was that even if (most of) those faction leaders have the best possible gear they still get rekt by blue geared people, so I agree that most of the time they are not very skilled… they just have the will needed to grind. And thats… Something, I guess.
Pve litteraly takes 40mins a week if ur good. Ive stopped flasking and bassicly make all the gold i need for respec /other consumes from daily professions. So saying 40 mins of content a week with 0 farm time needed to be able to get raiding gear is just a pathetic excuse. Also on my server at least, the people going r14 are also high rank arena players

Yes Gehennas has more good players than other servers, thats a known fact, if they like grinding for ranks then I guess its only up to them, but its not like that on other servers.
So you rather run around in dungeon gear? While i have full epics and would litteraly destroy you in a 1v1
