Firemaw as you can check on ironforge website, but join alliance plz to keep the balance good, if you join horde you are just contributing for the best pvp realm to become worse, atm the balance is 46.5% ally, it wont seem like you will have any effect if joining horde cuz realm is full of ppl, but new players like you are the ones who make or break it.
Ij you want to go horde go gehenas, as the alliance there are used to be less then horde while still have a good balance and more horde doing pve then firemaw

Literally an impossible question to answer…
Because every server has players who partake in PVP(Bgs) and every server has casual guilds with casual raiding the only big difference between the servers is Horde to Alliance ratio and whether the server is classed as Normal/PVP/RP and what the current population numbers are for those servers.
You can check wowhead for classic server ratio/populations and thats honestly your best option to picking a server.

Is it? At least on Alliance side we seem pretty stable. What is increasing is the amount of raidloggers (so less general activity) but the peak times on raid days are more or less stable. Some people are quitting over time but in /world there are also some people starting, asking for guilds or general server state. What’s interesting is that I probably met a dozen of Horde rerollers who made their Alliance twink on Skullflame.

Golemagg if you want to be on the underrated but awesome high pop server. Lots of great players here and good community both alliance and horde (so I’m told).
