Best way to farm legacy

lets try to help each other out and come up with a definitive list for the fastest way to clear legacy content (mainly instanced). i’ll leave them blank until we start getting ideas. i’ve noticed that the aoe cap is slowing down legacy farm on my shaman. maybe its effecting other classes too among other issues?:

BEST RACE:

  1. dark iron: increased speed indoors & mole machine to get to instances.
  2. Mag’har: increased mount speed where possible.
  3. Zandalari: increase gold drop (2%)
  4. Night Elf: (druid only) increased movement speed while in cat form.
  5. Worgen: racial sprint (CD).
  6. Human: ONLY if you are farming rep.

BEST CLOTH:
Mage - Arcane. instant aoe. portals. blinks.

BEST LEATHER:
Druid - Feral. 2 sprints, stealth, wild charge. dreamwalk teleport out and back.

BEST MAIL:
Hunter - Beast Master. Trailblazer, disengage sprint, cheetah aspect. use a cunning pet.

BEST PLATE:
Warrior - Fury. can learn all weapons except wands & glaives, good for tmog runs. most mobility with charge & leap.

BEST PROFESSION:
Engineering: rocket boots, portals.

BEST CONSUMABLES: (mainly speed increase):

  • speed gems in sockets

OTHER TIPS:

  • do the pet battle dungeons at least once to activate free ‘portals’ from dalaran to their entrances. account wide.
  • potions of deepholm give an extra way back to org/sw.

Could add a “best profession” category, I’d say engi is pretty handy for this type of stuff. Portals, rocket boots etc.

where is the speed coming from in regards the race? (nelf). i only see increased speed when dead or stealth-ed.

well if it works with cat stealth then probably that? would be my guess. :smile:

As far as I know u get 2% boost to move speed( all the time) and Dodge .But not at front of pc ATM

I’ve been farming tmogs on a prot warrior and can pull full rooms and one shot all with Thunder Clap. Haven’t really tried how much I can pull and kill at one time due to looting being really laggy on the realm my warrior is on :confused:

Would personally say Arcane Mage with its instant AoE and nifty Portals is very nice for Legacy content farming.

Worgen Hunter would be really fast. Trailblazer, disengage sprint, cheetah and racial sprint.

And ofcourse engineering for rocket boots or whatever it was called.

Warlock for clothie i would say with tank pet if needed and speed boost and portals .
and its close between shaman with ghost wolf and hunter with talents.

best cloth would be mage. Giving you easier access to the zones. Anywhere you want to go is a teleport away. Unlike others who have to go to capitals or wait for ships and such.

plus, arcane can provide you with good mobility too.

I’d definitely go for fury warrior in the best plate category:

  • double charge (talent)
  • heroic leap (shorter cd and bonus speed with talent)
  • single-minded fury now gives movement speed
  • enrage gives movement speed

For that last point, the talent Fresh meat is worth taking cause the first Bloodthirst on a new target will always enrage you. Although War machine is still better for Legion content.
As for Whirlwind, it is now capped at 5 targets, but it also strikes each target more than once. And since you one shot everything in legacy raids and stuff, you can actually kill more than 5 mobs at a time with Whirlwind.

Under the ‘any other tips’ I would suggest:

  • doing the pet battle dungeons at least once in order to activate the free ‘portals’ from dalaran to their entrances. Unlock is account wide.
  • don’t forget your potions of deepholm if you need an extra means to get back to org/sw

BM hunter.

Now the question is; are mail armor looks even worth farming.
Personal answer: Most of it, no. Ugly. Ugly. Ugly.

I still have quite a bit unlocked of course. Playing a hunter since vanilla will do that. :relaxed:

Also, Warriors can save almost all weapon appearances (apart from Warglaives), so they can cover that area as well!

I’d say Shaman is the better mail class for farming Raids and whatever. Their 150% indoor movement speed in ghost wolf (with the talent) is pretty hard to beat imho.

Just a personal experience, but all leather class are quite good for running old content. They all provide excellent mobility, they all have massive cleave.

As regarding cloth, I would say fire mage because it has a lot of instant single and cleave spells + shimmer is nice.

Yup. Arcane Mage. No contest among clothies.

When you cannot die, or even be much hurt, Arcane Explosion is insane for quick gathering and AoE. Take Nether Tempest talent for the few ranged pulls you need.

Both Priest and Lock can DoT for pulls, but that’s longer and awkwarder.

If you are repeatedly farming the same instance, a class which can teleport out and back is useful - like druid with dreamwalk, monks with the monastery teleport (I think that one works?) and DKs with deathgate. Dreamwalk saved a lot of time when I was farming Vortex Pinnacle for the mount!
