It just deleted itself from my computer overnight (checked anti virus logs and has nothing to do with it).
I did some searches and came across the CurseForge reddit where multiple users have reported the same thing, 0 answers from each thread as to the cause.
I don’t trust anything that deletes itself from my computer, went ahead and purged remaining folders/wiped all traces from my registry.
Going back to manually managing addons via the website until i can find a clear and logical answer to this.
Just a theory but did you have Windows updates before the app magically dissapeared? Microsoft have this new “feature” since Windows 10 where it decides to unistall things without notice during certain updates. I’ve had this happen to me before with certain programs.
curseforge/overwolf would literally install themselves on your PC without your input if they could, what could they possible gain from deleting themselves?
You cannot. WowUp does not have access to Curseforge. WowUp can “only” access their own addon hub, TukUI, Wago. io and WoWinterface. And while a lot of addons are on all platforms, there are some exclusives to CF, for example OmniCD, MDT, SimC.
Edit:
Also using the standalone Curseforge app (sans Overwolf), and it’s still working as you’d expect…
I’ve never ever in my life seen any AV that deinstalled software on your behalf to protect the system from infection.
I did see them quarantaine / delete suspicious files that got picked up through a regular or heuristic scan, and those files are either executables or files that have payloads within them for zerodays.
Literally nowhere in the title or your post does it say “standalone curseforge app”, curseforge app means the default one which is with overwolf. Are you a clown irl?
