BFA and Alts,

Yes there is lot of people with alts but they are ok with how things progress now becouse they think of alts as alts not their new main.

There is only every small audience what feel like they should be able to play multiple mains. And game will not be desinged around them. Alts used to be material gatherers, dungeon runners, for questing and making gold. Not for runing mythic +15 and heroic/mythic raiding.

If that is true, 100% solid fact, then why do we have 50 character slots?

We aren’t allowed to account share so the extra 49 slots aren’t for other people’s characters so why are they there if we are only supposed to have 1 character???

Getting cloak on all 12 of my alts & level it to 5 then call it a day and go farm some gear ^^

1 main character not 5 main charcters. You can have chars as many you want but dont demand game to be butchered becouse you want 5 competttive chars doing high end content. Thats not having alt. Thats owning 5 mains.

Something being an option doesn’t mean you should take it. It’s so that people who play 100 hours a week have something to do. There being 50 character slots doesn’t imply you should have 50 mains.

Well, start with 2 chars. 2 ready to play chars should be nice

Perfectly achievable if you play a lot, and that’s how it should be

Essences killed the alts. Then the cloak killed them a little more.
Changing mains is not fun.

Killing the alts pretty much killed the game… It’s become all chores.

Well I don’t even have 1 character doing high end content :woman_shrugging: but I still don’t like the alt unfriendliness in this expansion - more balance doesn’t necessarily mean butchering anything.

But why? With azerite traits being what they are it makes more sense for someone who wants to play both a healer/tank and a dps to have multiple mains instead of having to reforge traits every spec swap.

He can play however many toons he wants, his main will always be stronger though, and that’s perfectly fine.

Also, nobody reforges traits every spec swap, people carry multiple sets of gear (like they did in the original version of the game)

I know one person.

Ion. Last time his profile was linked, he was still missing the 2 character at 120 achievement IIRC.

yeah im the same. if i choose a healer i play healer only. i level as heal and i do content as heal. might be considerably slower but i dont mind it. (same with tank and dps. got for every spec a separate character x.x")

just wished the whole system was more flexible gear-wise and would offer more options for healer and tanks.

Hell no. Attunements and reps for all heroic dungeons in TBC

As far as attunements and reps for TBC these were not really an issue as it was a relatively short quest chain and once you done it, Thats it you could enter the raid and not having the rep,s was not mandatory like essences and the cloak are.

They did not then award you an item which essentially required you to be farm currencys for it to be useful.

For the people saying “You cant have X number of main characters”, The answer is “Why not?”, If i want to change say from a Shaman to a Hunter in the middle of a raid tier why cant I, I have already spent numerous hours levelling my “main” at the time so then I have to go and respend all that time again just because I want to change, This is all a just a timesink mechanic.

Oh thats right becuase the “alt” will most likely be X number of levels behind and most likely behind on rep.

The simple answer is
1: Make all rep obtained account wide (This already happens once the expansion is old, as my alts are all exalted with the Nightfallen but only my warlock truly done the exalted"

2: Cloaks become more like Heirlooms and can be crafted in the heirloom tabs (Once you have completed the quest X number of times, Or you could make them account bound so characters that can wear the same armor type can swap between cloaks.

3 : This same system can be applied to Necks all necks share AP earned, They can timegate the number of AP you can earn a week to prevent people levelling their necks via alts by doing repeated dailies, They already have systems like this implemented, Just look at EVERY rep grind its timegated.

All of the above solutions do not hurt the player who wants to play 100 hours a week and gather every tiny little piece of AP and every essence in fact it rewards that player because they then have items which they can use across any other character giving them flexibility and choice, If they so decide to change characters.

The ONLY logical reason I can think that they do not implement things like I said above is due to the fact that they “think” that by having these mechanics in place which require EVERY character you own needing either a cloak now (Get cloaks or no ilvl upgrades for that character because you will acquire corrupted gear)

IE… My DK now is running around with nearly 100 corruption and the eye that pops up sometimes with the big circle even if i move instantly to run out of it i take 3 ticks basically takes 50% of my HP so I choose to not have the 25 ivll upgrade ring or go grind cloak and ranks, or farm mementos.

I am under the assumption that just like the essences a lot of the corruption effects will be preferable to run some M+ and or raids (Already seeing people leaning towards Infinite Stars and Twilight Devestation, So to have optimal amounts of this you will need X number of ranks on your cloak to offset the negative effects)

A lot of the problems and what has killed alts purely revolves around the fact that these items require grinding once you have done the quest chains and it could be resolved with account wide progress or interchangeable items. All MMORPG,s MUST have grinding but there is no need to have individual character grinds.
