Would it be possible to have the core gameplay exactly as it is, but with the updated graphics/animations/spell-effects of BFA? As an option for those who would like that of course. As I understand it, animations and spell effects are client based, so what you see will not be the same for other players in case they turn on vanilla settings if it existed.
As an example, the new character models and running animations has been integrated in some TBC/WOTLK private servers and they coop with old models and running animations as well. So why not in classic?
Itâs only a cosmetic option and doesnât change anything for anyone else who just wants to use the old models. We already got the improved water/shadow effects, why not animations, combat effects and character models as well?
It would be so cool to play classic with the updated graphics/animations but with the exact same gameplay.
I donât see why not, likewise I wish retail had the option to use old animations, or even customized animations (MoP had an awesome charge animation they discarded).
Edit: the MoP charge was actually due to the warbringer talent, nevertheless I miss it
No. The updated stuff looks horrible. Classic was made for people that wanted it (blizzard really just wanted to corner the market) and not for stupid retail tourtists.
Yes it is a good argument. It doesnât affect someone elseâs play at all if it is optional. If you canât see that a cosmetic change (not transmogâŚ) doesnât affect anyone elseâs gameplay or game experience then you are missing a braincell im sorry. Done disagreeing with you.
No it isnât. Implimenting whatever the hell you want just because âhurr durr optionalâ is terrible.
Why not transmog? Iâve already said how that can be entirely OPTIONAL too. Why do you draw the line at new models and animations, but not optional-game-wide-only transmog?
Youâre missing a hell of a lot more than a single braincell, buddy.
Your âno changesâ/ changes will bring more change is a terrible argument against it. Give a better reason? There have already been many changes which have even affected gameplay (a big example is layering). âNo changes because no changesâ is a âhurr durrâ response xD
Changes have already brought more changes, so my argument was proven correct.
Nice mention of layering. We wouldnât have needed layering if the server cap hadnât been changed in the first place.
No changes because you muppets donât know where to draw the line, because you muppets donât know what good change and bad change is. No changes because thereâs no point.
Youâre playing a 15 year old game, itâs going to look old and dated. Thatâs the damn point of it. If you want something to look pretty and flashy, then I have three simple words for you. Words used a lot around here:
Stop lumping people that want one change and people that want a completely different one into the same bucket. If you just see people that one a change as all the same then you are very basic indeed.
Also this âgo to retailâ argument is basic too. If i wanted retail Iâd be playing retail. The gameplay and RP experience are better in classic (in my opinion*). We are asking for cosmetic changes that donât affect anyone elses gameplay. I donât want to play retail, I want to play classic with some graphic improvements. Got a problem with it? just ignore these requests then and if the feature is implemented just turn it off? itâs not hard.
Because xmog actually has an impact on playerâs behavior (when it comes to AH and rolling on items), while I donât see how a graphical toggle would really change things for those who donât click it.
I donât use the terrain cluttering option to display grass on the ground. Does it really change things for me that some people do?
Why is this big pain if someone wants to enjoy the game a little different than You? I hate new character models as well but the new spell animations look awesome.
It will be a fantastic experience when we have to participate AQ open event on a 10-12k pop server without layering . Yes, we are playing a 15 years old game. Yes it is a 15 years old game. But the world goes on and we definitely has to use the new potentials what this ânewâ world could offer to us. We can make this game better. Of course with the sense to keep the balance and donât change the main aspects of it.
