BiS 60 level prot pala dungeon tanking

What would you call BiS gear and talents for protection paladin dungeon tanking at level 60?

It is my understanding, that generally survivability is not an issue with raid-level gear, so one should focus to increase threat generation first and foremost, without sacrificing too much armor and stamina.

So I assume that most slots are T2 or Plate PvP epic gear which have both spell damage and stamina/armor. For cloak, rings, necklaces there are some options with spell damage, mostly for casters.

The most interesting question to me is choice of weapons, shield and trinkets.

I see many paladins using Flurry Axe. With lifestealing it would generate some AoE aggro with procs. Another alternative is to use spell damage weapons, but they are very hard to get, something like Lok’amir is extremely rare drop and contested by actual healers. And no R14 paladin weapons for that. Another alternative is Hand of Edward. Instant proc, holy light, good AoE threat. But lots of mana. Probably best for solo farming, not for groups. For enchants, other than lifestealing, there’s +30 spell power.

For shield, standard choice is Skullflame Shield, but are there better options? What about R14 shield? What about enchants? I tried to use Thorium Spike, but they do so little damage that I’m considering just using stamina instead.

Trinkets are even more interesting. There’s Briarwood as generic Spell Power stat stick. There are tank trinkets like Styleen or Force of Will. There’s thorns trinket from Ragnaros which actually seems not bad. There’s Uther’s Strength which provides absorb shields. So many choices.

Regarding Talents, I won’t delve into minor talents, but I feel that generally the choice is between Holy Shock and Blessing of Sanctuary. Holy Shock is very good snap aggro ability and with Divine Favor it’s almost a taunt. Blessing of Sanctuary along with Holy Shield are good for generic AoE tanking. What do you prefer? For dungeons probably pull more mobs and do AoE, ignoring occasional aggro losses?

The short answer is wait for TBC when the class actually becomes finished.

I had guldie paladin tanking strat with ease.
Idk what build or gear he had. But 1h wep and shield.
He used consecration on each pull and had alot of mobs while doing it. Also Consecration on bosses.

Im working on a paladin now and i cant help you whit bis gear, but much of what you se about protpaladins are for aoe farming and there comes Flury axe and skullflame sheild in.
You need spellpower for holy damage as it gives us the treat we need and you can use blessings of kings to pick upp more.
