Ret in 2s is pretty tedious in the sense that it’s the only melee that is actually impeded by things like Sacrolash’s Dark Strike and that it doesn’t really have any tools to alleviate pressure on itself.
It’s pretty fitting that the defacto melee equivalent of a Destruction Warlock also suffers similar issues.
Nice to hear that rets are this bad in 2v2 while I am gearing it, and here I thought it couldn’t get any worse than dk in that bracket.
At least DK’s are guaranteed to eventually reach their target and are capable of kiting other melee tbh.
Ret does have the anime Blinding Light outplay available to it though.

Ret is better for double dps comps in 2v2 than DK is, it’s only annoying if you play with a healer as ret from what I’ve heard and seen.
imo it’s harder to play double dps to high ratings than with a healer though, if opponents know how to survive and what to target then it’s up to you to get past that and land a kill before you die. Which double dps has fewer options in how to pull it off and isn’t as forgiving.
Double dps is easier vs. opponents that have no clue though, such opponents tend to flop over from the pressure alone this season on ratings where nobody knows what to do in PvP so the PvE from double dps wins pretty easily then.

Several reasons for that:
- Easy kiting in 2s for most classes
- You would be surprised how many times your one shot wombo combo will be stopped and fails
Yes everyone complains about ret dmg and one shots and it is correct, but most people never see that is very often fails and is quite easily disrupted without a good setup.
Ret works fine in the lower brackets, once you get higher you basically want to delete your char.
Reason 2 is amplified by having trash gear queuing into high gear. Hard to one shot 40k HP targets when you only got ilvl 200 or something
